    Background Story

    Blastoise! Hydro Pump!

    GMK Hydro has been a little side project assembled by the Squad

    .

    This set was pumped together with the heart of a Blastoise. The colors were chosen for a splash of blue, with the sleekness of Blastoise's hydro cannons. Note, this is not a Blastoise themed set.

    Note, it's not using Blastoise's colorway (brown, etc).

    Inspirations

    Inspired by Carbon, created by T0mb3ry. I decided to use the way that the Carbon colorway was hinted, and change the colors around. Thanks T0m for making Carbon! I can't wait for it to drop.

    And of course, our main homie, Blastoise.

    Colors & Renders (updated Aug 19)

    GR1 = Alpha Keycaps
    V4 = Alpha Legends

    N5 = Mod Legends
    N9 = Mod Keycaps

    GR1 = White Legends
    N5 = Blue Mod Keycaps

    More

    After going back and forth, I have decided to make all blue keycaps (n5) use the n9 (dark gray)  legend. The novelties are what tie this keyset together imo and I don't think that gr1 will work well with the novelties. The gmk render will be updated to match the renders. (Aug 24 9:50pm pst)

    [/b][/size]

    More
    We'll be adding this as an alt esc :)

    Novelty Keycap Colors + Blue Mod Colors

    N9 = Novelty Legend
    N5 = Novelty Keycap Color

    BR1 = Esc Shell Keycap
    GR1 = ESC

    Novelties & Such

    Updated Novelties - Aug 17th 2016.
    Updated Sticker - Aug 21st 2016.
    Added another Sticker - Aug 24 2016.

    All R4, except for the brown esc shell key.

    Novelty Ideas (outdated).

    More

    Updated News about novelties: After creating the novelties and posting them, I started searching IP law and such things such as "fan art". I will not be moving forward with these current novelties and will be remaking them to exclude explicit images of squirtle, etc. I'm as sad as you about this :(

    UPDATED NOVELTIES: Aug 7 2016

    These will be for FUNCTION ROW, in R1. Will have to double up & ask GMK if this is possible (copyright + limitations of doubleshot molds).

    Function Row Icons & Enter Key (same as Carbon).

      IDEAS:
      • Blastoise Shell Enter Key
      • 4x Turtle Squad Inspired Icon
      • Pokeball Inspired Icon
      • Blastoise Hydro Cannon Design
      • Hydro Pump Design

    With GMK Hydro up & coming in Mid/Late September for GB, I wanted to give everyone a thorough update on what is happening, and what to expect.

    Group Buy Details
    • Launch Date for GB - Sept 17 - 20th . One of these dates.
    • GB will be open for 14 days, or longer if we do not meet 150 sets (per kit) MoQ.
    • 3 Kits total. Base Kit. Novelty Kit. N5 Spacebar Kit.
    • Expected ship date? Somewhere in January.
    • Pricing: TBD. There will be 2 drop points for the base + 1 drop point for the novelty.
    • Extras will be purchased at a flat $35 mark up from its drop point. I intend on including both novelties + base key in each sale. The novelties are the spirit of this set IMO, and I hope you find that to be true. Number of extras TBD, but honestly not that many. No N5 spacebar will be included.
    Keyset Details
    • 165 Keys total
    • Supports: Standard ANSI, ISO, 1800, WKL, HHKB, FC660M, standard 75%, & more.

    • Novelty Pack Colors: N5 + N9 legend. & BR1 + GR1 legend.
    Extra Questions
    • Can I order more than 1 set? Yes, but if it's notably high amount, you may be flagged for potential market flipper and I will cancel your order.
    • Can I order 1 base + 2 novelty? Yes.
    • I want to organize a GB for my country / local mech community. I have a GB setup for China destination so you get it without mailing issues.
    • Trays or Bags? Pricing includes trays for all sets.
    • Who will sort it? GMK
    • How do I get stickers? They come with every set included. I.E. Base + Novelty = 2 stickers.
    • Will there be extra stickers? Yeah. You can order extra stickers.
    • How can you handle this GB? If it gets out of hand within the first 3 days, I'll hire someone to help me finish it. I don't intend to fail.
    • Will there be a R2? Yes. Possibly GMK, but possibly SP DSA.
    • When will R2 be? When I see a consistent unsatisfactory after market value.

    Really like this, basically GMK Eve and Eve is low key one of my favorite colorways. I'd love to see beige mods as an option and also white text on blue instead of black.

    That white text on blue does sound like an amazing idea. I guess I'll have to play with renders to see how it looks like!

    Using CR (black), CP (white) and V4 (blue). All keys here are identical to GMK Hyperfuse, the best in my opinion.

    Dont really like the blue f-row tho, if you could include white or grey extras as carbon did, it would be awsome.

    Btw, you can make a "similar" set on uniqey designer, so, yay, free render. Well, more or less.

    Filled out the survey. Some thoughts:
    Add R5. I love that row.
    Maybe a 6u space bar? I think GMK makes them now.

    How firm is the color choice? I've always preferred N5 over V4, but not sure how that would look with colors for the mod caps; Electric Bluegaloo is great, so maybe you want to keep it different.

    How would the alpha legends look with black instead of blue?

    I remember EVE was one of the first keycap sets I really lusted after. Stopped wanting it after I lost interest in DSA, but that color combo is still my fave. So glad to see it being worked on as a possible GMK set.

    I really do like the look of it, but I think you're missing out on not using the brown of his turtle shell. I think it'd look very nice as an accent on the enter key, escape, or perhaps the FN key, and you could just do one custom key, have the FN key be like a turtle shell. I think that'd be real cool.

    Am I the only one that think its similar to GMK Olivetti to some degree?
    I mean no offense,but at first glance,I think its just a combination of GMK Olivetti and GMK Electric Bluegaloo Mod Set. :p :p
    I know there're some differences,but I am afraid thats not enough to appeal to enough people to make this happen.
    Good luck,man.

    EB is N5; this uses V4 for the mods. But yeah, I'm still not sure about the alpha legend color.

    Interested! And I agree with crovax3000, a blue space bar could be a nice addition.

    A blue spacebar was actually added to this set and I'm considering adding it to the universal kit.

    Issued with that are that it costs a lot more to add the two spacebars.

    I'll look at the keys included I'm this versus the set I proposed.

    Mind linking a KLE so I can compare and move things around?

    The kit I put together was based off carbon and existing gmk full sets I looked at.

    wauuu looks awesome!

    Oh what? Where is this? I initially had the Grey function keys, so we'll see what it ends at.  I don't want to add too many keys as that just adds cost and I liked the splash :)

    Will be included if we do this!

    Hmm interesting. I don't think so at all. The colors are very much different.

    I really do like the look of it, but I think you're missing out on not using the brown of his turtle shell. I think it'd look very nice as an accent on the enter key, escape, or perhaps the FN key, and you could just do one custom key, have the FN key be like a turtle shell. I think that'd be real cool.

    I was actually thinking about the brown enter key! I thought it'd be a nice change. But maybe we can do that as an optional color pack with the blue spacebar. Don't want to add too many keys and have people not using keys but paying extra for just more colors of the same key.

    Am I the only one that think its similar to GMK Olivetti to some degree?

    I can see the similarities for the alphas, but also consider that mods contribute to the look of a set :)

    I 'm a Blastoise fan, so I'm interested in seeing a turtle elements. A render in brown instead black may apppeal more to me. Though the v4 blue is sharp.

    lighter green or lighter yellow is more adequent for alpha with darker blue legend
    but GMK penumbra with lighter yellow as alpha is being done in GMK and lighter green as alpha is new and novel and is inspired by your picture.
     that is why i prefer to put darker blue(V4 on GMK color card) legend on lighter green(3A on GMK color card) .

    I have indicated the two color which could be proper for alpha keycaps

    Sounds like you want to make a green version of penumbra? I'm not really sure what you mean with the color changes. I'd prefer white mods because of the contrast with the blue.

    OP states this isn't a Blastoise themed set. I really like this so far, and with some sensible key choices I'm sure it'll be a hit. If rather the alpha base color want a pure white, but nothing I've seen yet is a deal breaker for me.

    What a wonderful set.
    I would like to suggest something new for me: bars on f and j, plus 1800 support.

    Thanks  :thumb:

    I thought about 1800 support, but I think that adding those keys adds much cost for this when not that many users use it as much as other layouts.

    I want bars.

    We're getting bars.

    Nice, i dig the colors.

    From my POV N5/GR1/N9 is great combo. However i'd like to ask why making Alpha legends V4? If i look at my new/updated GMK color chain: N5 legends on GR1 will be very distinctive btw. clear and sharp.

    Guess you went ahead with my idea of the white text on blue mods :p

    I think the additional keys could be improved though.

    Btw, I just noticed

    GMK Carbon + GMK Hydro = GMK Eve
