Hahaha funny thread. I've actually been getting freaky with one of the other bartenders (yep, a woman) from work but she's off on a school function for the week. That being said I'm going to use the break to get some Mass Effect 2 in. I want to beat insanity mode and get the platinum trophy before ME3 is released. I'll also likely watch that ep of TNG where Tasha and Data get it on. Always makes me laugh.

Imagine how she would feel if you approach her with 5 roses, a little To:/From: card, a smile, and a "Happy Valentines Day" and 'I've had a crush on you since I first met you". :)

That's just poor thinking, buddy. If such a nice, honest, and sweet gesture can go bad, it's only because she would react very negatively, right? Because it certainly wouldn't be YOU that would ruin it. If she were to be less than appreciative, then that's a total reflection on her, and why would you have a crush on THAT??? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh I know, I have a habit of negative thinking. And you are 100% correct. Without exposing how truly pathetic I am with women I'll just say that my inexperience with women + how much I actually like this girl and don't want to screw that up = scared.

You are what you think 100% of the time.

Fear is a useless emotion, it only holds you back, it never benefits you.

You get experience by doing. If you don't do, you don't get the experience. It's either up front positive results, or back end experience which ultimately yields positive results. Either way, that's the flawless argument for just doing it. You have nothing to lose.

Have game plan #1 ("flowers" see above) and be a forward thinker and have plan #2 versions A and B depending on how it goes. That's impressive, AND it's just smart.

I look forward to hearing what happened:
-she was shocked that shy demik actually came out and flirted with her
-she swats you across the face with the flowers (have friend video in case this might happen)
-she takes off her face mask to reveal she's actually your long-lost brother from the war (again, have friend video this)
-you pee in pants (PLEASE have a video!!!!)

HINT---Treat her as a person, not a woman.

You can do it demik!

Edit: I have to agree with input. You have to try to both learn about yourself and to see what can become of it. Nothing happens if you don't try, and you won't gain experience from sitting around. There is no loss.

Remember, you will always have your lovely geekhack community to run back to if you need consolation! :)

I used to be attracted to hot heads. They are exciting, vivacious, active, outspoken, constantly moving, fun to do things with. But, as I came to find out, they are horrible to date long term. Too much drama, all the time. Let your guard down for an instant and they are eating your spleen for breakfast.

Now, I'm attracted to the nicest people I can find. Hardly anything is as attractive as a smart, educated, intellectual and beautiful girl that is humble, human, understanding, compassionate, and thinks I'm the greatest thing that ever happened. I like having that standard to live up to every day. I'm turned off by people that complain or say nasty things. Shrinks my weenie every time.

If you're worried she is going to bite your head off, then run the other direction, there are too many out there to share your valuable time with. Unfortunately it's a numbers game, you need to know that, but try not to let that jade you. Each person deserves your attention and respect to see if there is anything to pursue.

In the basement of the court house (One of the first buildings you go into), there is the "Calendar Man" in one of the holding cells.
If you go down there, you may talk to him. However on holidays (listed on the wall beside his cell), if you talk to him he will tell you a story.
There is an achievement for hearing all his stories.

With all those anime dolls, I can't imagine why you're single. Kidding hehe

On a serious note, be confident and be yourself. In fact, skip that first part. The right girl will make you feel confident. And will have you doing stuf you wouldn't normally do. I'm not talking about love struck, I'm talking good ol fashion confidence. She should make you want her. If things don't work out, keep looking. I was divorced at 26, and before I could feel bad about myself, I started dating again. It works out that you know you're awesome. Girls love confidence.

Bwahahaha!  I was just about to mention that there was a lot of Anime going on in this thread.

I would mention that ItlnStln's top dating tip is to meet people in situations/locations that you find enjoyable or interesting, but I don't think Anime clubs are going to work out too well for you, though.

Try hiking, book signings, or even church if you're so inclined.

@Those trying to score girls.

Anime/Gaming clubs are great for meeting people with similar interest, but there usually very few girls. (Maybe not anime club). Girls just tend to stay away from these clubs. Its like expecting to find someone on geekhack...Its possible, but don't expect it. (I'm not in an anime club...I'm to affraid to see what the people are like there...)

Its tough for me. I don't like the kind of girls that go to clubs and stuff and clubbing ain't my kind of stuff. Yet for people going to Uni, that is pretty much THE way to meet people. How does one introvert meet another?

We are in the same boat. I'm not a club/going out person. VERY introvert. That's one of the things I'd love to change about myself and I know only way to do so is go out. I just need a little push lil

chances are she knows you like her, and she's not avoiding you at this point... NOT telling her you're interested is only going to make her think you're weak.

I figured that much. She's extremely nice, even took care of my dog when I was out of town (for free at that) and recently even bought her(the dog) a gift for her bday. But part of me thinks I'm reading into it too much like I've done before and the best just to disappoint myself.

Too much negative talk!

I know it's hard but you gotta take some risks, easier said then done of course. But if you never get past that you'll never know.

The reality is to not have unrealistic expectations. Do yourself a favor and keep it simple. Get her a few flowers, not too many, so it's a friendly gesture, not hard core romantic (sounds like that's too much stress for you), and a small card. Build a baby step on what you have. Show appreciation for her "insert actions here". A smile and a few heartfelt nice words go a long way. Jokes are good diffusers. Admit to being shy (but she already knows this). Offer: "I really admire you a lot to get over my shyness and give you Valentines Day flowers, silly, huh?". Use the tools you have. Make her feel special without pressure so it's enjoyable. If it's happy, fun, and makes her feel good, safe, and special....she will want more. Everyone feels the same way, it's not a mystery. :)

Go get her, tiger!!!!!

I'd be your wingman today if I could, but I'm 350 miles away....

I figured out the fail of not asking out a girl you like. I used to talk alot to this cute shy girl (we were like 13). And We actually really liked each other. I didn't have the guts to go ask out her out until like a year later, and by then it was way too late. I learned from that and just go for it instead of waiting. The worse is a bit of rejection, nothing as bad as regret.

Since then I've gone for it, and have gotten rejected. But that's how it works. You lose nothing when you try.

DEMIK GO GET HER, SHE SOUNDS LIKE A VERY NICE PERSON!

Also, even though to this day I don't really fully understand it....girls are much more receptive to 'advances' on Valentines Day....it's like it's supposed to happen, and they are crushed if it doesn't happen.

Most important: Be the best of who you are. Show the happy demik, the interested demik, the "I show nice people consideration, because I appreciate them" demik.
DON'T show the insecure demik (everyone has this in them), the negative thinking demik (your goal is to change this buddy!), and the demik that is getting advice on a keyboard forum :)

Do something about her today. V-day is a huge opportunity. It doesn't matter what the outcome of today is. Any relationship is not built on an incident or a day, it's cumulative over time. What I'm really saying is that this is about YOU, not her. She is a vehicle for you to move forward with your life. There was a time you couldn't walk or talk, but look at you now....this really is no different. View this from the outside to put it into perspective. And, you can't make anyone like you, but you can make yourself more likable, and who doesn't want to be more likable? Be happy with yourself, it radiates outward to others.

Yeah, show the confident you. Nothing worse than going out with a wuss ; p. I've been a giant wuss my whole life. I used to be unable to give speeches in front of people without panicking. But the more you do it, the more confidence you get. Just go for it. **** happens, sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't. I swear a good part of why I got dumped was cos I was such a wuss. Oh well. You don't have to do it today demik, but you better do it before it's too late.

In the good 3 years I've been at uni, I've learned a lot about confidence. I went someone who you had almost no presence to the president + alternate captain of our Uni's 2nd Ice hockey team.

GL demik and other guys. I'd be out there too, but there are almost no girls at my Uni. It's a real sausage fest here.

I have gone the card route with her before, and it was well received. I don't know why it's such a huge deal now tbh
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

I'm not single unfortunately, but I don't care for February the 14th either.

Edit: Sorry, I just realised that comic is very mildly NSFW (one frame cartoon nudity, not very noticeable).

you need to know that Francis is a caricature, and that it's all an act.  alot of the video is based on some historical videos he's done with this character.  it's funny ****.

should read his comments, it's actually really awesome.

I could tell it wasn't real and just acting. But man...
