Mounts difference?
« on: Tue, 18 February 2014, 18:12:39 »
Both of this keycaps are cherry mx compatible.

However, they are slightly different.

What's the difference for? Its just terms of quality? What mount is better? Does using any of them instead of the other generate some problem on the switches?

I've seen this before, but couldn't find it again.

No practical difference.  I wonder if that right cap might have some trouble with switches that have LEDs.  The left mount would be the safest for all purposes.

I believe it might have. Now im curious about how backlight keycaps are in its structure.
However, the right keycap has 8 "sticks" and the left just four, and feels a bit more solid when you try to bend it.

They are completely different keycaps in profile and height, too. Specially the funciton and esc row.

I'm doing a keycap mix between BTC-53 and Chicony KB-5161 (or 5161-like kb, don't fully know yet).
The base keyboard is the 5161, because it feels so much better to type on.
I'm gonna buy another BTC-53 for $5 and use it's keycaps too.

Maybe a keycap white paintjob may be involved, altough some don't recommend it.
