I was originally hoping to have something is February, but I do not think that is enough notice for most people.  Maybe something towards the end of March.

I'm still interested in coming out. I'll be AFK in early March so end of March/beginning of April would work best for me. Just floating that out there :D.

I had to look up the meaning of AFK.

Anyways, I will look at some dates this week and nail something down.  I would like to schedule something that works around the spring breaks for the local colleges in case any of the college kids are interested, and it seems March 29 or April 5 would work best.  Purdue and IU are still on spring break on March 22.

So how about March 29th or April 5th?  Both are Saturdays, by the way.

Here is what I am gonna do:

I will try to find a place to meet in the downtown area for March 29.  I will look for a meeting/conference space in the area will be close to hotels for anybody may stay overnight.  I will look for some place that might be a little bit interesting and near some place that have a good bite to eat.

Should be a decent time.

Yea, that's what I was thinking.  Sorry I did not make that clear.  Turns out that downtown has lots of spaces i in hotels that I can book for the day.

Why insecure?  Because it's small?   I have some things that are small, but I post them all over the Internet.  What's more important is how you use these small things.

For anybody that is interested in attending, I am wondering how much they would mind having to pay for parking, because having the meetup in a sleek downtown hotel means that you will have to pay for parking, most likely.

I could secure a location more on the outskirts of town with ample parking, but it will not be as central or as close to good eats or entertainment and such.

I think $20 is a reasonable maximum. But the last time we paid for parking in Indy it was really cheap. Hopefully that's still the case here?

You do not have to pay $20 to park on the weekend anywhere in Indianapolis, except maybe an overnight deal at a swanky hotel.  For an interesting venue near decent food, pay parking is almost a given.

I'm probably gonna find a historic downtown location, even though the tranquil option of a meetup in a city park is mighty appealing to me.

Gosh, no, I would not have the meetup in a picnic shelter.  I would rent out a conference or meeting room at a city park.   But I already nixed that idea in my head because I want to be closer to grub.

The idea of having a cookout at the city park crossed my mind.  But that would require more planning than I am willing to put forth.  And weather could be an issue.

Let's start adding the people to the OP that are coming to the meet. It'll entice more people to come if they know who or how many people are coming.

Yea,  I think that I did, but I was such a noob then that I did not even remember if I liked it or not.  Back then, I thought Model M's were too heavy, among other preferences that have changed.

I think I have some loose Quiet switches you can play with. My Alpsulator has the Tactile/Clicky Matias switches.

This is still happening on March 29th right? Just double checking. I'm really excited for that vacation slideshow and to see a toonie.

Yea, definitely happening.  I was going to update with some photos and such, maybe take suggestions if anybody wants to do a presentation or two.  I was thinking of throw together a slideshow of how to refurb and bolt mod a Model M.  And maybe something on this Model F refurb that I'm doing.   This thing was like a rusty, stale dustball when I got it in the mail, and I'm hoping it will look like a smooth running sports car when I'm done.

I could always do the Q&A session I wanted to do last year on basics of plastic manufacturing/metals processing. That is if there's interest. Think that's the only thing I'd really want to present on.

Plastic manufacturing be great, considering it's the backbone of our keycaps obsession.

What about some pictures of keyboards in Hong Kong???

My favorite shop was one that had most of the higher end stock keyboards. So Leopolds, Realforces, and Filcos. That was cool. But it wasn't anything so special that I instantly had to buy something cool. I did try a Filco Minila Air and I kind of want one know.

Can you post where we're actually meeting up at prdlm2009? And maybe update the OP with times and maybe parking or if we have to pay you anything for renting a spot?

Yea, I was just about to do that.  It will be in this building called the Fountain Square Theatre.  It's a pretty interesting multi-use space with a couple restaurants, bars, some hotel on the top floors, duckpin bowling, a theatre, and they had a few meeting spaces inside.  It was a close race between that Theatre, the Alexander Hotel (a new-agey boutique hotel), or a German-style beer hall.
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing
