Keyboard of the Month 2016 - February - Nominations!
« on: Tue, 16 February 2016, 14:06:46 »
Sorry it is late, but here it is! The nominations thread for February's Keyboard of the Month competition!

Last month's winner was idollar's FSSK

We had great participation last month! Lots of interest in the new year of boards! So let's hope the shortest month of the year gets just as much love :)

Remember, the rules have changed slightly, so please read the announcement thread, but other than that, happy nominating!
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

I'd like to nominate Hoff's GON. You just don't see enough green around here, very elegant lighting on it as well.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

One of my all time favorite threads. The board was recently reposted after the GMK Cyan set came out but the board was worked on a while back. Dunno if it meets the rules or whatever.

Haha usually you don't see restoration threads for kustom boards.
Definitely like this board. The commitment to revive such a precious and beautiful board.

EDIT:

I want to nominate lolpes' "RS96 with dyesub royal alpha keycaps, F row and numpad mods are OG dyesub cherry, greens and yellow mods from GMK." (taken straight from his/her post)

And here is where I saw it: link.

I personally prefer blue to green, but this is undeniably nice.

Ellipse's F62 and F77 project has reached GB stage. Prototypes are in hand. He essentially worked to recreate the Kishsavers in the 62 and 77 key layouts. They're new buckling spring keyboards; maybe the first modern BS boards made besides Unicomps. More info here and here.

jdcarpe has come out with his new JD45 keyboards which are manufactured by TEX. Like matt30's Whitefox, it's great to see a keyboard that started as a hobbyist DIY kit and end up being produced by a keyboard OEM. More info here and here.

Lastly, codingcpa is restoring a IBM 6019284 Kishsaver and it look's really nice. I'm not sure if it's done yet but it's always fun to see them being restored.
