Viva's Dating Advice Thread
« on: Thu, 21 May 2015, 09:25:43 »
Hey guys.  You used to know me as prdlm2009.  I always thought that was a lackluster username and it did not roll off the tongue very well, so I went with this username that I have for a couple other places on the Internet.  "Vivalarevolución" rolls off the tongue, but now I'm self conscious about being mistaken for a Che Guevara admirer (which I am not).  Oops.  Oh well, we shall suffer the consequences of our decisions.

In this thread, I would like field questions and provide advice for any Geekhackers seeking to improve their dating life.  I have no credentials or qualifications, and my dating record is not that extensive beyond generally making a fool of myself.

Also, If you had the chance to read my Keycon 2015 Love Letters, you will know that I can write a sappy and heartfelt letter for that special someone in your life (or someone you hope to make special).  Will take requests for letters.

Okay, fire away with your troubles of the heart.  Advice available for all genders, and those pursuing any gender, not just males seeking females.

With all that in mind, I would like to say:

The following statements are my personal opinion.  Should you choose to take any action or refrain from action based upon your perceived meaning of my statements, I am not liable for any consequences.

hello. i am a 45 years old strong, independent, confident woman. i live with my 9 cats.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Maybe there are a few gay guys around

~2% of the population is gay.

43,108 Members

1,400 females..  28 lesbians
41,708 males..  834 gay

But I don't see how this influences the  2-active female posters dilemma.. 2..   Also we don't even know if they're single.

That should be in the profile..  relationship status...

It's my dating thread.  I don't see it as the official dating thread.  And I do not discriminate my advice based on gender.

Since you have a new username you need a new avatar!

vivalarevolución, avatar of an el camino...I think the avatar fits better than ever.

hello. i am a 45 years old strong, independent, confident woman. i live with my 9 cats.

You should consider if you are replacing human contact with a small army of pets.

Should I walk the dog?

If we are talking about the pet, yes, it needs exercise.

If we are talking about the other meaning of this phrase, yes, it needs exercise.  But not too often.  Once a week is my recommendation.

I do not agree.  If you need alcohol to connect with others, I recommend working on being less self conscious.  And don't get people drunk just to loosen their inhibitions so you can sleep with them.

Korean customs with heavy metal cases or homemade customs generally strike me as the type of keyboards that attract the most men.

In my experience, my ergonomic keyboards and beamsprings also are men magnets.
