Model F XT $80 after shipping
« on: Wed, 17 January 2018, 18:46:24 »
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-IBM-Model-F-PC-AT-Buckling-Spring-Mechanical-Keyboard-PARTS-REPAIR/152857382698

Missing some caps, but otherwise solid price. Seller mistook it for an AT board.

There's another for about the same price, but missing the space bar:

Yeah, nice. A few missing keys, but it even has all the cork feet.

BTW, dude, when you paste an eBay URL, you don't need all the stuff that starts with the question mark—those are all parameters referring to your particular computer and browsing session.

That's an oops, fixed it. I'd hop on it if I didn't have a 122 in the mail already.

You are likely to be much happier with an F-122, and if you follow my ANSI guide you will have a magnificent beast.

Also those missing keys are oddballs and may be rather hard to find.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

I made a trade with DFJ, so I have faith it will come properly done.  :thumb: Those XT keys are weird, but seeing that people are charging upwards of $150-200 for even XTs I figure it might be worth it to hunt for keys.

Thanks for not taking offense. It's actually something many people don't realize here.

No kidding! And the best part is the look of amazement when people see it. You'll instantly be considered an IT god.  :?)

The real winners are the peeps who were buying them a year ago, when they were still around $35.

You just have to take what you can get, at this point. Wish that was still the case, cause then I'd have a pile of them.

Another for about $70 shipped, this one's only missing F9, which is a much easier key to find. Plate looks like it's seen better days, though.

Interesting, but significantly less of a deal - There's also an F Bigfoot that has a 100% incorrect sticker on even the seller is confused about: https://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Model-F-M-AT-Mechanical-Keyboard-Part-No-139750/132457557501

I'm guessing it was indeed an M—especially since it was made in '96 by Lexmark, who wouldn't have been tooled to make F's—that was made for a customer who was replacing a bunch of F's, and who wanted the same type of case and layout, which their workers were probably used to.

Another of these (NIB!) appeared here on eBay a couple years ago:

186960-0

186962-1

186964-2

186966-3

...and inspired this GH thread. A very odd and rare board indeed! I'd buy it myself if it weren't quite so much dough.

there is absolutely zero chance that is an M, lexmark slapped these stickers on model Fs left right and centre. i have an unsaver with one.
