Hi all,
The MOQ has been met for the Pink Rosélios (Silent Linear) and will be open on ZealPC on February 1. The GB will be open from February 1 - 14, 2019 and production will start February 15. The link to the GB is here: https://zealpc.net/products/roselios.
The samples have already been made and are on the way to Zeal. He will be providing pictures of two of the sample had had made (189C and 1765C).
I've been in contact with Zeal regarding running a limited buy for a recolored Healio. He has agreed to run a limited GB on his website for an alternative color if I was able to gather enough interest for 20,000 switches (MOQ). Currently, we're at 18,355 and almost to 20,000! Zeal had indicated once we hit 20k, he can start the GB on his website as soon as February 1.
We have narrowed down the colors to 189C and 1765C and he should be getting samples of these:

The price for a switch will be at Zeal's GB pricing which is $0.9/switch and the minimum order of switches you can purchase are 70 switches given the high MOQ. Switches are currently $1.2/switch on Zeal's website, so this GB is slightly cheaper.
The way this GB will work is similar to a GMK buy where payment will be accepted as of February 1 (if we start then) to speed things up and then we will decide on a color. As seen above, we're looking for a more milky pink, but will narrow it down to one after we receive the samples.
Please complete the following if you're interested:

Pink!! Definitely in for this :)

I hope you're good at color matching!

Pink switches! :thumb: I'm in!

Pink!! Definitely in for this :)
-
Depends on how impatient I get before Healio R2 :))
-
this is just the stem recoloured correct?
-
I can just add these to my xeno order, right?
:raughs:
-
In for a few hundred at least.
-
Interested, also would be interested in green if that becomes an option later
-
Interested, I need this for my pink Alice.

I'm in for the amount to cover a Xeno
-
Definitely in. I was going to order some more Healios soon anyway, and these will look much nicer IMO.
-
Count me in :thumb:
-
ya
-
Would be interested in some of these!
-
Interested. I was about to swap some MOD-L stems into Zeal housings so this is perfect. Any chance of doing a more magenta-ish color though?
-
love the color, already have a tkl's worth of mx zilents but may still hop on this for the novelty
-
I'd love some! I probably only want about 10, so if anyone wants 60, 80, or 100, I'll take the other 10!
-
Unfortunately pink is not my color. But nice to see recolored Zeals are possible.
Would love to see Tealios with milky tops.
-
yes yes yes :thumb:
189 C looks good to me. There is also bubblegum 7422 C and its more milky.
-
No chance for an EU vendor then?
-
The recolor market is getting interesting! Good luck with this! :)
-
Would've been so nice if this was for tealios or zealios. Just not a big fan of silent switches. GLW IC though! Looks very promising.
-
Damn, I would be totally in on this if I didn't already have orange Healios.
-
Good luck with this :).
-
definitely interested in this
-
Interesting, a pink silent stem just makes me think of mx silent reds...
-
wish this was in the cherry silent black stem "grey" color...
-
I'd love some! I probably only want about 10, so if anyone wants 60, 80, or 100, I'll take the other 10!
With that attitude we'll be at 20,000 in no time
-
Will a better spring be used in this version?
-
I'm in. Panton 189c, although I'd prefer a "hotter" more neon pink if possible. I need to offend as many people as I can with pink switches.
-
Yes! My major gripe with the healios is that orange colour :-[
I grabbed some but I'd happily get some pink ones for another build.
-
Everyone loves a bit of pink

Orange color is pretty much the only reason I didn't buy Healios. Pink is my fav, so I'm in on this for sure. Would also love the hottest, most neon pink possible. That TKL above is gorgeous.
-
I'm interested, pink is a nice change of colour compared to the original orange. Hot pink or neon pink would be cool
-
you guys are crazy...
-
Almost there guys...!

Almost there guys...!
Will the color be determined once you hit the MOQ for this IC?
-
I mean... I'll still probably buy 100

Once we reach MOQ, Zeal will have the GB started on his website and I will narrow down the colours to 2-3. He'll have samples sent to me and then we will decide on a colour and then move forward to production. He said we can start the GB as soon as February 1 if we reach 20k. I think this way will speed things up similar to a GMK groupbuy where we will do colour matching after payment.

Id be in for some milky pinks :D

...the minimum order of switches you can purchase are 70 switches given the high MOQ....
Out of curiosity, since I am still relatively new to this hobby compared to many who have been here for multiple years on, I was curious as to why there often does not seem to be an option that allows for you to buy a 'sample pack' of these switches instead of having to sink into the wallet to buy 70/90/110. The reason I am saying this, is that I and I'm sure a relative minority of the community are switch collectors who would love to have one of these for our collections, though don't see the justification in buying that many when I/we in reality only need maybe 1 or 2.
To the possible responses this conversation may garner:
1. Why don't you just buy them, take a couple, and then re-sell them on r/mm? -
While this is a completely valid option, the idea of growing my switch collection rather than my boards at the moment is because I'm in classes and not trying to spend *that* much money. Additionally, there is hassle with this option including listing, shipping, and hoping that someone purchases them. Albeit probably a safe route, I'm not sure I want to take the risk in sitting on switches I don't need out of collection's interest.
2. It's a pain for them to ship out orders of 10 where as 70/90/110 are easier to deal with from stock?
This is often a very valid point that gets brought up in regards to these switches. However, many sites including Zeal, Novelkeys, and KBDFans allow you to purchase switches they currently have in stock in quantities of 10, and several others have allowed me to purchase quantities of 10 in groupbuys (Linjar, YOK Red Pandas, GSUS Pandas, etc). If the one doing the purchasing is willing to pay the price, and hell maybe even a couple cents more a switch for a 'tester' option, as well as shipping, I see no reason why this shouldn't be offered more so than it is.
3. Why don't you just buy them off of r/mm?
This is typically what I/others have to resort to if they can't/don't want to meet this minimum order amount, especially if they are relatively high such as with the FEI Matcha Linears (MOQ was around 200/person I think)
4. Why don't you wait until they are on mechbox?
US Shipping :-[ .
I don't mean to drum up any controversy here by any means, I was simply wondering why GBs are done in this fashion, when it could and probably does exclude a couple of orders from being placed from individuals who would have no other easy means of doing such. I love zeal, and I'd gladly support them all the way down if I had the money to go in for 110. That being said, I simply can't afford to/don't think its reasonable given my rationale for wanting to purchase.

I'm talking about specifically for this group buy how the minimum order quantity for individuals is 70 where as I/other switch collectors only need 10. The nature of the switch collection only dictates I need maybe 1-2 but I am willing to buy 10 since that seems to be the accepted minimum for the sites selling stock switches I listed in my previous responses (Zeal / Novelkeys / KBDFans). Additionally, since this is a limited drop, it's unlikely that Zeal will put these into the switch tester, and if they do, I would hate to have to buy an entire tester over ($40 shipped) for a singular switch.
I already have their other stuff by buying testers just like that :D! (For the record I do like the Healios, but I am much more a fan of the 78 g Zilents)

The main reason why it's a minimum order of 70 is because we're trying to meet a MOQ of 20,000 switches. If I leave it open ended to allow someone to only purchase a minimum of 10, it will be more difficult to meet the MOQ given this is a limited drop for a custom colour.

I have a dumb question then: Doesn't making the minimum cut off at 70 likely exclude more people who don't want to purchase 70 than goad people in to buying more? I mean if you consider anyone who is building a board with less than 70 switches that doesn't want to pay for a full 70, you've lost out on those people wanting to buy switches. However, if you really are so worried about reaching MOQ, you can charge say $0.XX more/switch under 70 switches. Which basically would mean that if people are wanting less switches, you could still charge more money to help cover for the total cost of the 20,000 MOQ as well as reach that user base that won't purchase otherwise.
Hell, you could even fix it at 10/70/90/110 packs. You either are buying 10 for a switch tester, and maybe at a premium as outlined above, or you are buying 70+ to cover a full board. This caters finely to both sides of the want here for switches.
Slightly pedantic, I realize, but if I were able to purchase 10, your current MOQ would be 10 counts higher than it is now, and that's why I am confused that it is not catered to more?
Edit: Also worth noting is that it's not as if a precedent hasn't been set prior. For example, the Linjar switches (which are literally just Gat. Yellow recolors for all intents and purposes) slammed home 20k MOQ with forcing any minimum on their Google Form. I would imagine that Zeal brand anything, especially recolored Helios will easily smash that goal regardless of what you set personal MOQs to. Additionally, and not altogether unworthy, Novelkeys has set a great example by charging only in packs of 10 and never seeming to have any issue with ordering a quantity of switches that are interesting/nice and then sitting on stock forever.
-
You are one person. Generally, anyone building a 60% buys a couple extra switches in case anything goes south whilst shipping or soldering etc - hence 70 units being the lowest quantity makes the most sense, given there are very few people using anything under 60%.
This is just a recolour, it's generally for people that have tried healios and/or know they want healios and rather a different colour - it's not marketed towards people who are new to the hobby, which if nothing else is indicated by the fact these are priced at 90 cents a switch (about the highest you can find for stock switches), offering packs of 10 makes very little sense as has been explained prior. Your extra 10 purchased counting toward MOQ do not justify a change of approach, even if you were not alone in wanting to buy less than the proposed minimum quantity.
Charging .xx extra per switch under 70 would just complicate things for everybody, especially Zeal. Which brings forth another point, sorting and pricing logistics become a nightmare once you need to go and package orders of 1 switch per to China from Canada (where Zeal is located) as opposed to the standard 70/90/120 bags.
TLDR: sucks for you but it's not worth it (I mean no snark or irony with this).

Who build a board with less than 7 packs of 10x switches ? the amount of people using SOLELY 40% is much much less than 60% and up, which by 60% needs around at least 62 keys, so 7 packs.
And no one would to ship 9$ worth of merchandise, then add shipping cost to one individual buyer, and that's just 10 out of 20000 the amount needed.

And I understand that, to a point. The thing that confuses me is why some people choose to allow whatever quantities purchased (Supervan's GSUS were shipped from China in however many you wanted), while some don't. Especially confusing to me, in all of this, is that on Zeal's website you have to buy switches in 10 packs. It's not as if they have never filled an order of 10, and giving the option via normal website purchasing but not a group buy of the same type of items, from the same vendor, via the same route seems strange to me.
And no one would to ship 9$ worth of merchandise, then add shipping cost to one individual buyer, and that's just 10 out of 20000 the amount needed.
This is literally how I have been buying the new switches. (GSUS Pandas / Linjar / YOK Red Pandas / Gat Glows / Cream V2s). All sets of 10 for my switch collection.

... thus clearly people do these things. Additionally in my quote above yours that I edited in after your response - Zeal literally sells 10 packs on their website. I could go buy $12 worth of product now and have it on the shipping route here. Why the same products, sold by the same company, using the same vendor don't offer the same purchasing methods is beyond me, as it excludes a customer base that they already have and will continue to cater to with packs of 10.

You realize you're being unreasonable right ?
If you want to have a try at Healios, feel free and order the normal ones like you just said, that's fine. But this is a group buy, Dreamre is an individual running it, he's not a vendor. I don't understand why you would explode when a gb for switches doesn't have a 10 pack. If you can't stand the color orange from the normal healios and just want to have it in pink, let alone just 10, then you best better off buying leftovers in /r/mm or at meetups. Linjär doesn't even sell 10 packs in the EU vendor even though the main consumer of the gb is from EU/Sweden. Deal with it. So to get back to your reply, why don't you just get 10 of these switches on zeal then ? literally the same switch except for the color.
Dreamre's groupbuy, Dreamre's rules, that's all there is to it

Dreamre's groupbuy, Dreamre's rules, that's all there is to it
1. I am not exploding by any means, rather I am simply trying to understand a lapse in my own rational of the situation.
2. While Dreamre has petitioned for this GB, as far I am to understand the original post it is being run as a GB on Zeal's website, and thus I would assume it would operate in normal, standard purchasing practices for Zeal. (I don't know why this makes me the villain to assume this?)
3. I have Healios, and as stated, this is to further a switch collection, not just out of a desire to try Healios. The point of the collection is to have '1 of everything' much like an ultimate switch tester. While it is not functionally different, it was sold as stock and thus I feel it should be a part of my collection.
4. Linjar can be bought on Novelkeys in packs of 10 with no issue.

ThereminGoat fam just buy a switch off someone after the GB for like shipping cost instead of complaining it'll be cheaper than buying 10 it ain't the runner's fault you chose a niche within a niche.

Obviously this appears to be what I am going to have to do. I just simply was hoping for some clarification to the same thing I've outlined above several times: Why same product, same vendor, same everything doesn't have same purchasing quantities.
The fact that people here think that I am complaining by any means scares me, as I simply trying to find a valid answer to these things and I have yet to.
-
i'm not going to even bother anymore
Feel free to buy from someone else after the gb or not, have a nice day

Besides that whole debate, how are we doing Dreamre?? I hope we have reached the MOQ :p

Nobody has yet explained to me why Zeal, a company that sells Helios in packs of 10, is not facilitating a group buy for a re-color of Helios with the ability to buy 10, and rather instead is opting for a minimum of 70.

To ensure that this GB meets the MOQ, rules have to be made so they can be met. Healios is part of Zeal's line up of switches and already have been manufactured so they can ship out in packs of ten. This GB is not part of Zeal's lineup of switches and if Dreamre can't guarantee or show that x amount of switches will be bought, they will not waste their time in making it and continue selling the switch that does sell. And this is a one time thing.
Like many mentioned, wait till people sell it oh /mm. That is what many did for the Fei Switch when the minimum quantity a person could buy was 200...
-
Nice to see the surge of interest in this one, looking good for the impending GB.
-
Another pink? isn't holly panda pink?
-
Another pink? isn't holly panda pink?
No, Yok switch housings are more of a beetroot color. Which almost gives it a hot pink color.
I assume this switch will be along the lines of light pink/double bubble gum pink.
-
I prefer 189C, but wouldn't mind an even more vibrant pink. Either way I'm in for at least a board's worth.
-
I'm arranging samples being made for 189C and 1765C. I should have them made and in my hands before end of the month. If everything is ok Dreamre and I will pick one colour. GB will launch Feb 1st, and open for 14 days. Valentines LE switch, closing Feb 14. Any extras will be put on sale for retail until OOS.
Need to think of a name. Open to suggestions :)

Shealios. For the "She" counter to the "He" of Healios.
Or if you want to keep gender out of it, Rozealios or maybe Rozilents. Rose/Roze either way.

super into the idea of recolored switches! especially when it's pink. i personally prefer 1765 C, but i would buy it regardless!
for suggestions, i'd say Romeos (Romeios? Romios?) or Julients!
already in for 70!

Samples done, got a preview. They look nice. Shipping to me tomorrow. :) Should receive Monday or Tuesday where I'll take better pics.

Why not just keep it simple and call it pink Healios?
-
Helios was the Sun personified, and his mother's name was the titaness Theia.
So maybe Theilios? Or Thelios. None of his consorts had cool names IMO.
Failing that I like Shelios.

Rosélios?

If it’s going to be a 1 time group buy (or occasional) I don’t think they need a special name. They are special Helios so... Healios (Valentines edition)

The MOQ has been met, pictures of the samples will be posted when they're in Zeal's hands.

The fact that people here think that I am complaining by any means scares me, as I simply trying to find a valid answer to these things and I have yet to.
maybe this will help clear it up this is unique in the fact its a group buy designed to be run one time with no extra stock produced after the sale. Zeal's typical switches are a on going group buy with extra stock to sell on the website with the understanding that in 2-6 months he will run another.
Most other places buy in large bulk they will get 10-20k+ switches then sell them in sets of 10 on websites. Most GB switches thought do have a minimal which is typically 60-70 switches. This helps to make sure that GB terms are meet and the GB runner isn't stuck having to source money from other places or refund everyone. Please don't think of the buy from Supervan it was unique. Supervan bought switches and then turned around and held a "GB" which was really a sale for them as they were already produced and shipping out almost next day.
