I didn't notice this before but it seems to run parallel to the plate after the bend. 🤔

It kinda reminds me of the unikorn gasket design with the gasket sitting in between the pcb and the plate.

Partly true, yeah. They stop happening once there isn’t an interested party. if the market stops paying insane markups, then less people will be willing to flip since margins would barely make it worth it considering turnaround time is a few months at best for a quality board.

I'm afraid that would only happen when designs stop going out in limited quantities, which practically means never.

Interesting. I’ve never seen a gasket that easing running along the outside of the board and sandwiched.

Reckon it could be something like a dampener?

Kind of hoping it features some kind of gasket! I don't even know the mounting, just assuming it is top mount based on photos.

I throw my money at yuktsi without even knowing these basic things about the board - and I'm happy to do it. :D

yuksti could just do same as LZ that he doesn't reveal the design until the boards are ready to ship and they would still be sold out in seconds  :))

I think it's slightly different and more akin to the 356mini. Could be wrong.

Both wraps around the switches, but how it's kept in place is different:
  • Unikorn - downward compression is handled by the o-ring as it rests on posts on the bottom, and it's held from going "too high" by screws like a tray mount
  • 356mini - downward compression is the same, however the plate has tabs which extend into the top piece, stopping it from going higher

The tabs are the 4 wider sections as shown here. Imagine they are smaller and there are 10 of them...with screw holes in too.

v2 CE is traditionally a top mount board, so I think if you remove the screws, and add the o-ring, the tabs meant for top mount will become the tabs like the 356mini.

If JaCE with gasket mount feel anything like UNIKORN then I am very excited. I think it is awesome that we might be getting the opportunity to build this board in a couple different ways.

afaik yuktsi said it's meant to be top mount, but there are standoffs that would make a gasket possible.

- personal reference

It does not, however the Git Base Kit has a Git Text and Git Icon key to use on Esc and F13 positions.
