Oof, US only, that wasn't mentioned in the IC (at least that I saw)... I was really hoping to get one shipped to Canada :(

If you live in Greater Van/Lower mainland you can get it shipped to a place in Point Roberts; it's usually what I do for these kind of situations :/

As a fellow canadian, this also makes me sad :(
Another sad face for US only :( RIP Canada
Enjoy, friends.
PCB is hotswap socket only. Plate and emblem on the Hi-Pro are made out of brass.
If you look at the Pcb photos from the ic thread, this doesn’t support soldering of switches directly. You need to solder the hot swap sockets.
Is shipping $30 no matter how close we live to Phoenix or how much we order?
What do you mean by "PCB (if available)"?
The PCB manufacturer I'm using doesn't let input your own quantity of parts to order so the next step from 50 PCB's would be 75; though I do have control of how many are assembled. If not enough people want an extra PCB the cost to make those extras would be pretty high.
I'll give the option in the group buy, but before sending out the quote I would ask everyone who wanted an extra PCB if the quoted price for the extra PCB's is reasonable.
If you edit your form will it lower your position in the group buy?

Looks like modifying your response will change your position so i would hold off on modifying it till after everything is set.
I turned off the function for now and will enable it later.

Shoot, I hope I didn't lower my position too much.
Oo, since it is a limited run, have you considered serializing?

If Umio1 set up the Google Form correctly, there should be a limit of how many people can fill out the form. If you were able to fill it, in theory you should be good. When your order is done (ETA July 2020), Umio1 or whoever their manufacturer/distributer will send you an email through Paypal with a tracking number.
That's assuming it hits the MOQ or the total number of units set to be sold in this GB.
I think there are at least 2 main reasons why this GB is moving really slowly.
1. Self soldered hotswap sockets
2. Plate mounted stabs
Is there a number of orders that must be hit for this GB to proceed to manufacturing or will it proceed no matter the number of orders just with increased prices?
Is there a big enough difference between Plate mount and PCB mount stabs other than the connection method?
I'll still be going ahead with the GB if we don't hit the 50, I wouldn't expect more than a $10 increase if anything were to happen (or I could allow a small amount of international orders: this would delay the production little bit). We're almost there though, only 10 more people till we hit 50 orders.

Plate mount is more unstable than PCB mount and hence produces more rattle. Also there are more choices of PCB mount stabs.
I saw your PCB layout. It can be hard to redesign it for PCB mount stabs around the USB port and the microcontroller.

If someone drops out I will give some time notice before reopening the google form for someone to take the spot.
If everything goes well with this group buy I will create another for people that missed and internationals after this has ended.

Or, if you like the Nautilus colorway, you could get in on the GMK Nautilus round 2 group buy that's starting on April 2 instead of buying the Tai Hao copy that has much more limited compatibility:Those are nice just wish they were all with yellow lettering

Yes, looks like you're in the canvas group buy, but it's moving fairly slowly while the mahjong is closed as of now.
So were the emails sent? I just want to make sure I didn't miss them or got in my junk mail!
Will the lo-pro people be offered an option for a hi-pro version or are we just out of luck if we don't meet MOQ?
Sounds good! Best of Health Everyone! Hopefully time will allow us an add-on pcb!Yeah and hopefully a board without soldering, I still need to learn how to solder!!

From the amount that I got invoiced, does that mean that extra PCBs are available?
Yep extra PCB's are available!
When will the canvas invoices be sent out? When 25 cases are sold? Or is there a deadline on it?
Did production start? If so, what's the current time table?

Oh my god, I went with the mahjong green bottom white top combo as a sort of meme but holy **** you nailed the colour. It's going to be rough finding feet that look ok and a keycap set to match but I'm excited to see it in person!I went with a black top stainless bottom and now i'm questioning it. That looks so clean. I bet GMK camping would look pretty good on that.

Well, I fell for it. Somehow I missed that while this is a hotswap PCB, we have to solder those hotswap sockets in ourselves. It never even occurred to me that someone would run a GB like that.Given that Umio set the GB at an amazing price with shipping included, soldering the sockets are not bad at all. They're easier mill max imo.

Good news! All the parts I caught doing quality control are being remade and should ship out to me on August 5th.Which parts are those? Did that affect ones that already have shipped?
I'll try to ship them out as soon as I get them!

If you're shipping more of these, you might want to consider putting the sockets in something other than those plastic strips. About half of mine were loose in the box when it got here.

Got my Mahjong in today! Everything arrived in great shape, well packaged (Thanks Umio1!), & the build was a very easy one. The only thing I have yet to figure out is how to reprogram it. In the OP Umio1 said to use the https://kbfirmware.com/ (https://kbfirmware.com/) site to do it, but there is no preset layout for the Mahjong yet. Umio1, can I just make a json with the same layout in KLE then import it to the site for reprogramming mine or will that not work?

Soldering the hotswap sockets is very easy, i can post a tutorial video for people who are concerned or do not have previous solder experience. The video would be nice, but I think I could probably work from written steps as well.
If you've had a non-hotswap PCB where you solder the switches in, it should be pretty trivial.

What is the best way to solder hotswaps? Tin the contacts on the PCB, seat a socket and then heat to reflow? Or seat the socket, then solder?
Just got mine today! Looks great. Only question I have is what method am I supposed to use to secure the emblem? It's just a loose piece. Am I supposed to glue it?

How do you flash this puppy anyhow? I've never done one that isn't loaded up in QMK.
I grabbed the .json, mapped the keys and exported the .hex. Is this the part where you load it into the toolbox? Cause I don't have any HID recognized.

yep, you'll want to have QMK toolbox and upload the file "flash".
QMK Toolbox will only recognize the micro-controller once you hit the reset button on the bottom of the PCB.

Sorry, I'm fairly new to this, what exactly is flashing and how would I do it when I get the board?
It refers to writing the flash memory in the microcontroller on the board. In this case, we build a custom firmware using a codebase called QMK and write that to the keyboard. This is so you can define custom macros or any other behavior or just redefine the key mapping. How do you flash this puppy anyhow? I've never done one that isn't loaded up in QMK.

If I don't need any macros and don't want to change anything with this board's layout, does that mean I don't need to flash? Or does the board not have anything programmed onto it yet?

I programmed all the boards so you shouldn't have to worry about anything software wise unless you want to add some more functionality when you press the FN key.
or you want to adjust a lot of the layout.
Another Quick Update: The remade parts will be coming in this week; I should be able to ship the last 6 that had quality issues this weekend!

What size is the hex key required for the smallest screw? Is it a 1mm hex?
Theyre M2 screws, a quick search says a 1.5mm hex is the recommended size; i just kept trying different sizes until i found the largest one that fit.
Finally got the board from usps! i don't think the smallest screws (plate to top) are 1.5mm, they're super small and i'm trying to find a keyset for them. The M2 screws for the bottom piece are 1.5mm. I wish these were phillips lmao, hate hex

Got mine in over the weekend! Everything looked great except for a small chip or missing paint. Maybe its where they hung it, too. It's small enough that I can just touch it up with paint, I think. Thanks for the GB! Are you going to have B/C-Stocks of cases/plates/pcbs?
Is yours on the mating surface? I tried to make sure there were no visible defects when assembled.
Yeah i'll have a couple extra defective/unfinished bottoms and tops that I can't really do anything with for people to do their own finishing. not sure how I would select people though.

It’ll prob be covered up and not seen during use. It’s very tiny, gonna grab the closest green car touch-up paint at the store whenever I’m out next time. Should make it invisible.

EDIT: pic is rotated 90deg CCW, no idea why it's rotated since it looks different on my phone.
Maybe use a raffle for b/c stock that are full-kits? The piece parts are likely harder as you’re only pool are people who already own it. Personally, I’m interested in (2) plates and (1) top+bottom piece.

I had a small chip, but mine was on the bottom side thankfully. Also some splotching around the screw holes, but again nothing visible when built. Just waiting on a few more things and I can finally build my first custom!

Update to the Update: Got a callback, there was a delay but he said the last couple cases should be ready for pickup this week and then shipping this weekend!
I need a new PCB. 23-26 are not working.
Check the diodes right under the socket holes. Mine had one missing. Had to jerryrig a throughhole diode to actually test the PCB and it works. I don't know what vendor assembled these PCBs but yikes.
Hi, I still haven't finished the keyboard because of 23-26 still not working. I think the diodes are dead. Where can I buy some extra diodes? Also, I need a couple more hot-swap sockets.
I'll ship you some diodes and hot-swap sockets as soon as I get back from my business trip no problem at all! estimated amount you need?
I probably need 8 of each. I will probably need some help once I get them. Just want to make sure that I am doing what I need to do. Also, another one of my switches only works sometimes and I need help with that. Thank you so much.

That switch issue could be due to the switch, or loose contacts in the hotswap socket. Have you tried swapping that switch with another that you know works?

Is there any way to modify the layout with QMK Configurator vs KBFirmware?
Got my polished-bottom Mahjong yesterday. I can't wait to build it!
Is there any way to modify the layout with QMK Configurator vs KBFirmware?
Yes just download the Json File I provide here:https://github.com/Neil-de-grass-eating-Bisson/Canvas-Mahjong-Keyboards/tree/master/Mahjong%20Firmware (https://github.com/Neil-de-grass-eating-Bisson/Canvas-Mahjong-Keyboards/tree/master/Mahjong%20Firmware)
Upload it to https://kbfirmware.com/ (https://kbfirmware.com/) and you should be able to adjust the key layout and function layers.
Then you can use QMK configurator to upload the .Hex file you created to the keyboard.

Oh I was talking about creating the .hex with QMK configurator instead of Kbfirmware. I feel the interface is slightly more flexible.

Borrowed these caps from my TKL for now. And please excuse the photo quality, just took a quick snap right after building it.
Here's mine - made for my wife. She's very happy with the final product. Thanks for the hard work Umio!Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201105/ccbadaaca4a5f0dc3f203636a18f5010.jpg)

Diodes and Sockets have been mailed!
These are fantastic, do you still have a spare PCB or two? Otherwise, since they are open source would it be okay if no PCBs are available if I used a service like PCBway to order one?
Looks fresh! is that a DMed esc key?
