Hey everyone!

Welcome to the IC! This is officially my first public set design, so without further ado, may I present ePBT Soju!
Obviously, the set was inspired by the Korean alcoholic drink, Soju. With a positive relationship with my love for soju and a negative tolerance level for alcohol, I decided to pay homage to it.

Initially, Version 1 (not my proudest work), included an accent color for most of the flavors; however, this would jack up the prices of the set and make it extremely expensive to produce.
Therefore, the two accents kit will be Green Grape and Peach.
If you do not like the original flavor and do not see your preference of flavor, it is likely that you have poor taste buds, but let’s hope that your tastebuds aren’t as poor as your eyesight

Also, the novelty in accent kits is intentional. I want people to either pick Peach or Green Grape.

Interesting concept. I think it's so close to Royal Alpha that the main differentiators here are the sub-legends and novelties. Could be worth if that's your bag, but otherwise may be tough to compete.

Oops, forgot to address this. After I made the concept, I was told about Royal Alpha. I personally contacted that designer to see if it was okay with them. I tried to make alphas more cream and greens different, but ultimately it does have the light alphas + green mods look

Like you said, I am trying to appeal to a different group with the new tripleshot hangul molds.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the comments and feedback.

Addressing a few concerns that I see coming up a lot:

1. Double consonants on Korean alphas - Unfortunately, this is not up to me. I did design this initially without incorporating them; however, the person that will be tracing the molds is set on the double consonants. Sorry! (BEING DISCUSSED CURRENTLY)

2. Already addressed in the IC, again, I can not make accents for every color; however, I do see that some people may want accents for ALL of the mods, if that's the case, it may be at the expense of being more expensive.

3. Non-hangul legends- depends on demand (but it will take away from the set overall with no longer needing tripleshot)

4. Set compatibility: NorDe and Ortho (and anything else) - Originally, the set was made with full compatibility; however, JTK asked me to cut down the set to match their previous runs. Sorry again here too, it's not up to me!

5. A lot of comments/feedback in full Korean- sorry, I'm not Korean, I'm an aspiring alcoholic

Yeah, I'm trying to resolve the consonants. As for 7741C, it is slightly different in the physical Pantone book, and I'm afraid of going any darker so that it contrasts with the dark accents better. But thank you!

As of now, I have a few ideas in my head to pick between, but nothing to jump on yet. I think I will get someone in graphics design or have worked with deskmats to help me out to ensure it turns out successful!

I think epbt is the way to go. They seem to be making a lot of effort to get better, and as cool as tripleshot is there's a lot of sets in the pipeline that are about to do it. I would hate to see this project go into a sort of "development hell" because you're unable to decide. You have some fantastic kitting and theming already, you're more than halfway there to getting it into people's hands. A set like this not seeing the light of day would be a real shame!

Personally I’d love to see a grapefruit kit, too!
OR if there’s an alternative mods set that’s a mix of peach and grapefruit colors together? It would look great with the green.

And I have a font suggestion for 소주 novelties, inspired from the Cham Iseul soju attached below.
It’d also look fire.

I was imagining a more mature novelty kit given the theme is 20+ (and venting the stresses of life :’)) like detailing the angles of the soju glass (also attached below), but it seems you are interested in a more playful version of the kit with facial expressions on the novelty icons.

I think it’d really depend on how you would develop the set, but if it’s going to be JTK running late next year or something like that, there would be room for many more people (and many of them being Koreans as the interest is definitely rising) to join the community and I think 3,000 may as well be possible!

For sure, the Koreans would love the soju font and the realistic soju glass I’d imagine.

- Font suggestion has been mentioned in feedback of IC, and has now been updated!
- As for mature vs cute novelties, for me, the appeal of the flavors is more cute than it is a mature alcoholic thing. I wanted to stay on theme overall, and I decided to take the cute approach. I am not considering changing novelties to a more realistic/mature feel.

- As for JTK and the rest of my IC...

2. ePBT allowed for a lot of the changes that people requested. For example, JTK would not allow me to remove the top hangul legends nor have a 40s kit.
3. It is not the issue of easy or not, it's the reassurance that my set will be able to run and if it fails, it'll be on me and not factors that I had no control over.

3. Why would it be better to fail on your own, rather than trying to put out a top quality product that could be centerpieces to a lot of people’s collections? Maybe it’s just an opinion thing.
Oh and are there still Peach F Keys? I saw a render with them but didn’t see them in the kits

Well I'm not a huge fan of constantly bumping up my own thread, so I apologize!
Anyways...
1. Finding designers who want to work with JTK tripleshot Hangul is not as easy as you think. I do not have a say in their designs. Realistically, I can wait until maybe 5-6 designs are up and we easily reach the 3000; however, that will push back manufacturing time to probably late 2022, and GB run mid 2021. Personally, for my first set, that is quite absurd.
2. Hangul sublegends are still there, but I had a ton of feedback on removing the top sublegends on the keys due to cluster and most Koreans not preferring it. Realistically, my original design did not include the top sublegends as I agree with them; however, JTK molds restricted me to include them.
3. What makes ePBT not as "high quality" as JTK? I'd argue it's much more popular and can still be part of people's collections... This is definitely an opinion thing as the feedback I received on my 2nd IC form resulted in this:

If majority of the people preferred JTK, I would not have switched it. IC forms are there for a reason.

And the F-keys as in F5-F8 are still there in the accent kits, top row.

I think it's a great set and ePBT is fine. I'm not sure why everyone is making a point of letting you know they don't like it. It's literally kinder and easier to just move on and not put a set down.

Regarding this change, this was definitely taken into consideration, but ultimately, I decided that the dark green looks much better as an accents kit. If I explored the route of having more kits that were oriented around the peach colorway (alphas/mods), I would have went with this; however, as an accent, I decided to ultimately stick with the dark green to have the accent pop out more.

Hey! So pre-IC, I had a few people who knew about it reach out to me to remove it after I added it. When IC started, my first IC form had a very large amount of people provide feedback on removing them (even though I addressed I couldn't). On my 2nd IC form, I was spammed with feedback regarding those legends again. Afterward, I asked vendors/Hangul users in the hobby on their thoughts on it, and in the end, it seems that it was a make-or-break for some Koreans or Hangul enthusiasts whilst not being make-or-break for others.

As someone who does not use Hangul, it seemed right to respond to their feedback in this way.

Yeah, so when I first designed it, I had all the flavors, but obviously it wasn’t reasonable either due to manu cost or MOQ for each one. Green Grape is my favorite flavor, and Peach seemingly was the most popular overall. Flavors that I considered in the running were grapefruit, Yakult, and Fresh, but ultimately settled with 2 accents. If the run goes well, I will most definitely consider a R2!

Although I/they may be wrong, if warping is the main issue why ePBT is driven away, I contacted them and obviously there’s a chance of it’s just PR, but they said warping should be fixed from Ivory and on. So when Ivory fully ships, we’ll all see if warping is an issue! If it is true, it’ll be very reassuring for me.

Also, based on the results I got, it does seem that going with JTK would have encouraged less buyers than ePBT would. So regardless of which manufacturer I went with, I’d be technically “losing” buyers. Impossible to please everyone.

The last I saw from them they were telling people that they got new molds for their mods not even realizing that their 1u keys were warping as well. It would be great if they did actually fix their issues, but I'd have to see it for myself to purchase any epbt.

As far as I’m concerned from my conversation with them and what I said, their newest molds will be apparent in Ivory which hasn’t shipped yet, right? How can you be so set on their warping on something that hasn’t been in-hand. But I guess we’ll both see! Hopefully the production of the next few ePBT sets come out successful to help you give ePBT another chance!

Likely not due to this set's theme of Soju, hangul in Colemak layout simple does not exist (to my knowledge), and Colemak Latin legends alone would end up disregarding the sublegend idea. Also out of all the responses I received for IC, the demand is not there; I believe your comment was the first to ask for it

I would say it's closest to the darker U80 render (top-down view). The main render with the fireplace has warm light reflecting in that one, and the Eclipse render/kit renders have a harsh white light on it. If you have GMK Cafe or knows what that set looks like, it SHOULD be the same color as the alphas (given it is a GMK color and it is being color matched by ePBT), but from my knowledge, recent ePBT sets have color-matched relatively well.

Please read this in-depth

I am insanely sorry for how last second this is with it being literally 1-2 days before GB. I've been asking for quotes for quite a while, and I received them officially yesterday. Realistically, I was not too keen on the prices that were set for the base kit, but I have reached a price that I am definitely more happy with. I would prefer to update this when all of my vendors have replied, but this post will only include the prices of KBDFans for now and will be updated tomorrow (literally the last day).

When I was given the quotes, I knew I had to cut down the cost of the base kit. Every other kit is amazingly priced (in my opinion), but the base kit was far too expensive -- especially in a GMK hype market. That being said, I have decided to move ISO kitting + ISO-UK to international kit and Numpad kit was also removed from the base kit. Hopefully, with the prices of the child kits, it is still relatively affordable if you do use international/ISO/numpad. Again, I do apologize and know that making a last-minute decision like this does not look too good

. However, with numpads being generally less popular in the community, this was the course of action that I decided was best to get a relatively cheaper base kit.

Do note that KBDFans (manufacturer of ePBT) has only recently picked up on reverse dye-sub, so sets like BIIP X DarkWraith and this set cost relatively higher than a normal ePBT set. Compared to Dark Wraith, this does not have Numpad, but it has more accent keys and some other compatibility keys.

These are likely to be the pricing for KBDFans (just for precaution, I'll just add "prices are not finalized and are subject to change" just in case, but I'm at least 1% sure these are going to be the prices:

However, with numpads being generally less popular in the community, this was the course of action that I decided was best to get a relatively cheaper base kit.

Do note that KBDFans (manufacturer of ePBT) has only recently picked up on reverse dye-sub, so sets like BIIP X DarkWraith and this set cost relatively higher than a normal ePBT set. Compared to Dark Wraith, this does not have Numpad, but it has more accent keys and some other compatibility keys.

These are likely to be the pricing for KBDFans (just for precaution, I'll just add "prices are not finalized and are subject to change" just in case, but I'm at least 1% sure these are going to be the prices:

Well, it's the addition of accents (spacebars, arrows, even F-row keys) that is pushing it to that price. Also, the MOQ for GMK sets vary, ePBT relatively stays the same and is unchanged with MOQ quantities. I am aware that I made it less appealing to basic ISO users (I feel terrible, I swear), but I had to cut something. Additionally, I wanted to make pricing for the base kit as low as possible. From recent GBs, (ePBT Skadi, Dark Wraith), this is around the same pricing except I prioritized accents over basic ISO.

Also again, I'd just like to reiterate that reverse dye-sub pricing from ePBT is relatively higher, so I apologize for that.

Honestly, $99 for a base and $18 for international is a great price! Regardless of the fact that it’s ePBT and not GMK. As an ISO user, i don’t mind there not being ISO keys in the base kit, as long as the int. kit doesn’t cost $50+. Usually i’d have to pay a bunch just for an extra ISO enter and a few international keys. This way, those who don’t need ISO get a fairly priced base kit! Nice work

Yep! All prices SHOULD be public before GB starts (1/29 PST time zone). I am waiting for all vendors to get back to me. Dye sub novelties seems very cheap compared to double-shot. This is new to me, I asked Melisssa from Signature Plastic once about pricing at high MOQ between Pbt dye sub and doubleshot abs. The price for the latter is only half of the former.

That shift is usually used in place of the 2.25 shift with the <> or \| key next to it in ISO, so that's why it is now in that kit (goal was to get price tag under 100). As for the AltGr, that was in one of my IC forms a while back, and the demand for it was close to none, and as GB already started, that change will not happen, sorry.
