So true......the postal workers work to time. Hence they need to push through as much packages as they can in a given time period. They will most likely be on casual rates meaning if they fall behind the others they won't get re-hired.
The Postal Companies now strive to push as much postal items through the supply chain as possible. Because the items are fast becoming large and heavy (Packages) they still adhere to the original delivery standards of sending letters (80gms many years ago).
Hence they will throw your item around to meet the deadlines of shipment. The ONLY possible guarantee in avoiding any damage is that the original seller needs to insulate the item fairly well. Lot's and lot's of bubblewrap/foam around the object placed inside of a heavy set cardboard box.
That is were the customer pays the weight and size of the packaging, which plenty here on Geekhack still complain about.
I don't care what it costs as long as the item is protected against shock and pressure, then it's worth receiving the item totally intact.
