I hate to say I told you so but if this had been a regular length group buy with regular amount of time for payments then these kinds of things probably wouldn't happen. That being said I'll ask my friends if any of them are interested in picking something up but they are all keyboard nooblets and are holding out for Toxic as their one replacement set of caps.
It is also possible that because of the awesome fancy order form people just filled it out to test how it worked and never deleted their test order. This does seem like a really high number of unpaid items.
Actually the number of orders paid was high, but a few vendor/large orders impacted the order volume quite significantly. In particular this impacted the tier for non-plum mods, albeit only by $4 per set of mods.
The one-keyset orders, the low dollar orders, and the new-member orders all got paid promptly. At the end of the day, there were only two of those that remain unpaid. Those two were replaced by 21 new orders of similar size within three hours this afternoon. And Asia and Europe are still to come.
I now have really good data, and the demographics and timing of orders and payments are interesting.
Many things to improve about the process (as always) but neither speed nor new buyers were problems.
