Thanks for the quick feedback.
Clearly most want steel/black, so it will be black-galvanizing/steel.

Btw, we can only do the black-galvanizing because we have so many orders. They only offer the galvanizing for a minimum of 120 parts.

Awesome, I’m really loving the transparency of this gb

Easily the best prepared and most real samples proof I've seen of any GB during my time in the hobby! I can think of some GBs where nothing more than incorrect renders and vague response from the runner was enough to meet MOQ, among other worse horror stories of failure.

Oh shoot, I just realized the GB was supposed to close two days ago. Not sure if I made it in, in time or not.

I think he extended it because the 75% has a little delay or something? I’m not sure, but I submitted my order yesterday and the form was still open. Fingers crossed!

Yep, hopefully invoicing starts next week. At least until then I'll take orders. Sorry, just haven't updated the start-post regarding this jet.

And yes, still don't have that final sample.

Dope! I get paid on wednesday, so if you invoice us around that day this won't hurt my wallet too much. Hahaha

I would prefer to pick up the cases myself instead of shipping, is that possible?

Of course! Already noticed that you're from frankfurt as well. When the time comes you'll get it directly from me.  :thumb:

Btw, when I prepare shipping I'll look if city names pop up more than once and pm those who live in the same city. This may be a chance for some to save a few more bucks on shipping.

I'm curious to see what the spread is on countries ordering the SKBxx - wonder how hard that is to pull from the existing order list, or if that will be an option to see once invoices are sent out and paid? Last account was that USA was over 1/2 the orders, or something there abouts.

UPDATE (regarding prices):

Just wanted to let you all know, that there are over 100 orders now (⁓110). That means the lowest price point is unlocked. We are past 100 since some time now already but the reason I didn't let you know this until now was because I didn't ever expect to reach this number and therefore the prices for 100+ were a rough estimate. So I had to get new prices in order to check if I can actually keep the announced prices for 100+. This took time. Now I can tell you, that the prices for 100+ are correct! So we are now at:
128€ for all SKB60 versions
145€ for the SKB75

The SKB65 will be 138€, I still need some more time before I can add it to the order form (checking out if it's possible to offer you a PCB along with it).

Also good news for everyone who ordered an extra plate. They are 30€ right now but they will get cheaper. I'll try to offer extra plates as cheap as possible, closer to 20€. Next week I will be able to name the exact price and then update it in the order form.

Just to be prepared I will calculate another price point for 150+ units. Will take me at least another week before I can update you on that.

...
btw, will post an updated order list soon because many of you switched to a different version and some new orders.

Just wondering, is there still going to be a drop at 160+ units? :D

Not speaking for PlastikSchnittstelle but I'm assuming that he will be divulging 150+ MOQ price relatively soon. From what I've kept track of, these are the "last steps" before he closes ordering and completes invoicing:

1) Receive final coated plate (Galvanized Black Steel is what I believe was agreed on)
2) Receive/build sample of SKB75 (planned PCB is KBD75v2)
3) One last full update to complete GB post with completed pics of sample SKB75 & plate, and possibly updated pricing for current MOQ (presumably 150+ by now between GH and DT).
4) Cross-list GB on ye olde r/mk and r/mm with full/final details to capture the short attention span over there, for one last surge of orders before closing the ordering phase
5) Potentially hit new MOQ with reddit/final surge and new price break?
6) Final invoicing

The scale of this GB is an enormous undertaking, and the time PlastikSchnittstelle is taking to make sure all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed is much appreciated from my end. I know a lot of GB's try to close up their ordering timeline to avoid losing buyers from attrition and impatience, but I (and presumably others) are really happy that this extra time is being taken to get physical samples built and displayed to avoid any avoidable issues for the full run.

Let's also appreciate that +150 orders with combinations of 5 plates and 6 cases is a ton of logistics to prepare for, with even more orders to come after the above final steps!

Yes, this is still planned. Due to small changes (like the plate material and finish), I need to get a new quote. Was supposed to get it this week, but now it is already Friday and I still didn't got the email. So I'll take this weekend to figure out how the whole Paypal invoicing works smoothly and next week will start it after I have the quote thus can name the last drop.

Yes, still possible to get in. Basically as long as the Google form is open, you can join.
Like Zuology said, you can get another YAS PCB with the order.
I found desoldering not problematic. You just need time, some skill and the right tools. Depends on you and your equipment.

Really sorry for the delay, detailed update on monday.

I'm sure many here don't have the time or interest to keep up on internal GH drama, but there's recently been a serious of concerning events regarding the owner of the site (iMav) essentially running a firesale off to highest bidder (who at this time appears to be a foreign private 3rd party marketing/ad-revenue operation). There's some concern about future of site, previous posts, compliance with GDPR, etc.

Reason I am bringing this up is that I know PlastikSchnitstelle will be invoicing soon and planning on doing some final round updates in the very near future, and wanted to give a head's up that there may need to be a backup system to communicate with buyers. I'd suggest that once final list of invoiced/paid is confirmed, that mass e-mail or shared Google Doc/Sheet would be good way to keep everyone looped in on updates, should GH operations go south (or east, as the case may be). I'm not a DT user, but I believe the GB is also mirrored over there in its own thread.

There's other existing threads here to discuss out what may or may not be occurring, lot of unconfirmed speculation still. Out of respect for the gb, let's keep this thread on topic.

UPDATE!

TLDR;
The reason for the many delays is that the last samples showed fractures at the edges. A lot of testing with different alloys, radiuses, tool setups and material thickness had to be done. The issue is now resolved, we found the right recipe to avoid any fractures without altering the design too much. If you are not happy with the changes - pm me to cancel your order. It's also cheaper now.

The whole story:
First SORRY for the constant delays! Now let me explain to you why. I mentioned a few times before that I wanted to ensure that there won't be any quality issues when we go to production. Behind this was one specific issue that was very difficult to control. If you bend aluminium you sometimes get fractures at the edge. This wasn't happening with my first prototype and therefore I had no reason to believe this might become a problem. But the last samples (which you saw many pictures of) all had fractures at the edges. The reason none of you realized those fractures in the pictures is probably because of the file compression and also because the bead blasting reduces the effect to a certain extent. Regardless if you spot it or not - there is now way I would have ever been fine with this. The manufacturer first told me we would just have to use a different alloy but still the fractures appeared. I had to adapt the design a few times and the manufacturer tried different tooling. The most noticeable change that had to be made was to reduce the material thickness. 3mm was insanely thick for an object of this size. We tried 2.5mm but it was still too thick. 2mm thickness combined with a slightly bigger radius turned out to be good. Now maybe some of you will be disappointed and think that going from 3 to 2 mm is a bad thing but let me put this into perspective. Sheet metal enclosures for electronics of comparable size usually use a thickness of 0.5mm. Even bigger enclosures like PC cases go with 0.5mm, sometimes 1mm. Only very expensive PC cases use a thickness of 1.5mm but not 2mm. So with 2mm thickness at this small scale we are still at level overkill. The 3mm was just insane and with the knowledge I have now, I can say that 3mm would have only work when bending it over a huge radius - something that just doesn't fit in the design scale of a keyboard.

This gave me sleepless nights. At some point I thought I would have to cancel the whole damn GB but working on a solution turned out to be successful.
I hope you understand that this took time, especially because in between changes I had to wait an annoyingly long time for results. The manufacturer is jam-full of orders and my one is comparably insignificant.
So this was the reason why I had to delay the invoicing for so many times. Collecting the money before I'm not sure that all works out, is something I just wouldn't be comfortable with.

I made new renderings, illustrations and updated the links in the start post. The overall appearance is still the same imo. The frame is now 1mm wider on each side and the outer radius ended up slightly bigger. The weight of the finished build was a bit heavier than a poker3, now it will be roughly the same weight. I decided to make the frame a bit higher so now the caps sink in a bit deeper, while at the same time I managed to keep the very low height of the lowest row. IchiBalzac kindly sent me a PCB with hot-swap sockets. Now that I have all the dimensions I can say that even at the lowest 6 degree you won't have any problem fitting them in. You also have the freedom to use different sized standoffs or spacers to raise or even lower the plate further.

The sample is almost finished - just the bead-blasting and then the anodizing isn't done jet. I'll get it at the end of next week and can then make another build and pictures. After that the invoicing will start - for real this time!

If you feel that you don't want to participate in the GB anymore due to the changes, please pm me.

Last thing to mention is the new price point. The current order quantity (almost 170) combined with the slightly thinner aluminium make the following prices possible:
SKB60: 115€ (was before 128€)
SKB65: 125€ (was before 136€)
SKB75: 135€ (was before 145€)
Extra plate: 20€ (was before 25€)

Thank you very much for your understanding and patience!

This is how it looks now:

@PlastikSchnittstelle

Please don't be sleepless - you have been doing a very good job in trying to make sure everything is in order, which is the most important thing.
Your design has multiple unique features advantage and plus a competitive price setting strategy - I cannot see any competition even from the Chinese. And all along we can see that you are responsive and diligent for this GB.
I have more money to pay for my order at the end of the month (plus I am still looking for a job!), so I am fine waiting a bit more for some products that I will be satisfied and do not have to return because of issues.
Wishlist: 1) nice thick Alps caps; 2) Cherry profile POM;
More
Wishful-list: 1) We order from keyboard-layout-editor.com; 2) usable Trackpoint module for all keyboards
IBM M13 black
NeXT non-ADB keyboard (AAE)
HHKB Pro 2 HasuBT
