Since so many of us love getting our doubleshots from SP, I thought to myself there must be decent demand for some blank keys which fit the same profile.

So here I am running an interest check on this. Keep in mind that by replying interested (and in how many sets) you aren't committing to buying anything.

The eventual group buy also won't happen unless we get at least 50 sets. The price of the base kit at 50 sets will be ~$40. If we have the interest I plan on having the base kit, the 10 keypad add-on kit and the Tsangan add-on kit available to order.

If you have any suggestions for changes, please also voice them in this thread. I guess this would include stuff like wanting a stepped caps lock, 0/00 keys for the 10 keypad add-on, etc.

One last thing: I live in Australia so if this does happen, I don't mind organizing everything but it would probably be best for everyone if we had a US proxy.

Let the interest check begin!

Just to be clear, I don't think SP's profile is the same for ABS as it is for DCS. I might be wrong but the blue dye-sub PBT keys we got from them were much shorter than the normal DCS profile we get for thei ABS double-shots.

Thanks, I'll make sure I check that up with Melissa again. When I first contacted her this is what she said, "the profile to match most of the 2-shot keys is DCS". So I followed up by asking "would it be possible to have black blank PBT keycaps in the DCS profile produced?". Her reply was "Yes we can produce the blanks in PBT".

Sadly (or not so sadly) this is the truth.  Why buy from SP when WASD will have 1.3mm thick PBTs at the same price point?

the only reason would be profile.  I'm pretty sure WASD isn't going to be cherry profile, but rather filco/costar profile keys.

Yeah the sole purpose is to have all your keys in the same profile. I'll leave this for a few days but it seems like no one is interested. Kind of surprising that so many people don't mind having mismatched profile keycaps on their board. Maybe blanks just aren't popular enough.

I sent an email to Melissa asking exactly this. I kind of did before too, but I made the question completely explicit this time. Will post back when she replies.

I'm sure if we got over 75 orders the price will be the same if not cheaper than WASD, but keep in mind the reason for this is for matching profiles. Either way, I'm still being hopeful this buy can happen ;)

i think it's more to the point that we know that SP wants a bit of a premium for their blanks, and it's simply not worth it knowing we've got them coming from at least 2 other sources within the next month.

Alright! Just got the reply from Melissa, they are definitely the same profile.

By the way how similar is the Cherry profile to SPs? They look very similar from in the wiki.
