I've been struggling to find a black text on white key set.
SP has given me the following quote on a 104 key black on white key, dye sub, PBT.
Text would be 8 pt Arial, or Helvetica, upper left key justified. no capitial letters, all lowercase keyboard wide.
10 sets $149.20 / set
15 sets $124.23 / set
25 sets $104.25 / set
50 sets $89.27 / set
75 sets $84.28 / set
+ $40 setup fee.
add $5.00 per order for post.
It's a lot, is anyone interested?

MODERATOR: please make title [Interest Check] black on white dye sub PBT
thx.

I'm not too interested at these prices even if you hit 50+ = / Sorry bout that. I would pay like 30 for a 37 set or even for a TKL set at around 60?
-
I was wondering why it was so expensive, then I noticed it's PBT
-
With those prices you'll need something a little more unique than black on white.
-
Just realized the PBT. Makes it more appealing, on the expensive side. Find a "special" style and I'll consider.
-
- I'd want to know that the spacebar was going to be PBT (this is ****ing 2012, get your **** together SP!)
SP will require a $500 set up fee, issue has been discussed
Titanium spacebar > PBT spacebar
-
Price is pretty high for this, and doesn't even include a PBT spacebar. imsto's group buy is offering THICK pbt caps, but I asked if they can come in blank print, and he said no. I'm sure if enough people pull his strings, he can get them in black letter printing. If color printing is offered, there should be no reason he can't get it in black printing.
-
I'd be interested, but the keys would have to be a really bright white.
-
Somewhat interested but not at those prices.

Is that even an answer
That is SP prices and it's not going to go lower so it's either you're interested or not lol
Side note, \KL had a hell of a time getting 25 sets in his GB and seeing as this is just a plain white and nothing special it'll probably drop the interest even more

Your right I retract my lame post lol. Not interested.

Yeah, and it only happened, because someone took the last 10 upfront.
That said, SP's PBT is excellent.
-
but their attention to detail sucks chode. they need to recognize that there's competition in the market making keys with thicker material, more consistent results, and PBT space bars.
Their target market isn't us keyboard enthusiasts, I really doubt they care too much about our business. With that being said, SP is still the only place to do doubleshot/dyesub layout to order, their so called "competition" has set designs that they do and that is it.
That's why you see even OTD, and KBDmania go to SP for doubleshot even if they have to deal with the less then stellar quality and ridiculous international shipping
-
The problem is that I wanted something classy and not showy with high quality print. Black on white with a unique, but not custom, print (no caps) should be a nice understated, subdued custom look. I'd consider going with a two tone with choc brown or light gray, too.
I am disappointed with the price points that she offered me, but it is what it is. I feel that SP prices have risen a lot since this summer and a lot of us won't be able to give them our business in the future.
I will consider this idea dead in the water. Pricing is too high.

I know some members have mentioned that there is competition out there for SP and others have replied that in fact there isn't any real competition in the market. My guess is that they've realized there isn't and have adjusted accordingly.
-
There is competition in the sense that I will have to go out a just buy PBT sets from imsto or qtan. They won't have the exact print I want, but when you consider that a PBT set from them is $50, or $86 with what ever dyesub colour is available at the time.
Nobody in their right mind is going to pay $125-150 for a key set when you can do 90% of the same job for $86.
It's just sad that they aren't even the ballpark anymore. From what I can tell from the initial round of R4 pricing, SP used to have pretty reasonable pricing considering you were getting something to your specs.

Americans are funny. So patriotic until they find something cheaper from china.

Who said it's just an american thing? Also, the quality of the PBT keys people are buying from qtan & imsto are better than SP's.
-
Most of my keycaps were manufactured in the USA, as far as I know, but I'm not patriotic at all. As much as I love America, it's not perfect, and certainly not God's gift to the world.
---
I'm not really worried about the price. If it's right, I'll get another keycap set (I wanted one in Dvorak anyway) If not, I'll pass. It's a pretty simple equation for me. At the end of the month, I have more money then when I started, so it's not a big deal for me.
Also, PBT may be expensive, but it's pretty awesome.

I am not an American.

Are we sure the Leopolds aren't going to get a price hike when the new ones come out? Not that what you said still won't be true.
-
Wait for the new Leopolds. For Signature Plastic pricing you get thick PBT keys and the keyboard comes for free.
Who wants to bet they won't come in Dvorak? No I have plenty of QWERTY as it is.
