Post your LEGO!
« on: Fri, 11 July 2014, 23:05:39 »
Hello, LEGO Fans.

It seems there is no topic about only Lego(maybe there are some topic about like toys now), so I decide to start new topic.
I'm very newbie of Lego, I just started to collect STARWARS collection from last year
and keep to buy more hehe.

Ok, here is my STARWARS Republic Gunship with added several troopers  ;)

Enjoy them!

And please share your awesome legos  :thumb:

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Duplicate thread!

It seems some thread has the duplicated thread?

EX.
Post Your BroBots!
Brobot Therapy

:)

Post your ... is supposed to be pictures of ones that you have.

... Therapy is supposed to be to console those who missed out on a sale, or who do not have a particular keycap.

This being Geekhack, there is an unhealthy amount of overlap between the two.

Not very, according to my gf, as she was the one putting the stickers on while I assembled the container chunks as fast as I could. Fingers were rather sore afterwards.

I had to buy the instructions on eBay, then use about 2400 of my parts and buy about 2200 more.  The parts in this set are very rare and expensive.  This thing was a lot.  I'd consider selling it if you really want it since they are almost never brought up for sale.  Parts had to be ordered from 10 different countries.
wow that's some dedication. is it R/C?

Yeah it's a pain to dust them all (thus they are a little dusty at the moment). I have to take them all down every other month or so and give them a good cleaning. Then I usually rearrange them.

I've always wanted one of the original deathstar's! Nice stuff.

Thanks! I had the Imperial Star Destroyer too, but my brother broke it years ago.

At the time the Deathstar was the largest LEGO set, but nooooooo. They couldn't let it hold that title. Now I've outgrown LEGOs and there's a new super-set: the Taj Mahal.

God, I love Legos.  And yet another topic/interest I'm finding myself subscribing too. ;)

Seems like I have more in common here on GH than with any of the 100+ forums I'm registered on.

That's a lot of forums to watch. XD Have some more LEGO pictures!

Email thread subscriptions are my friend. :D

Lovely Star Wars stuff!  My brother actually has one of the largest private Star Wars collections in the world.  I think he had every Star Wars lego set made up until the time he bought his condo.  It was absolutely crazy awesome--he had a 2000 sq ft house stuffed to the gills--walls of lifesize models, ALL of the master's replicas stuff, rooms of bookcases full of unopened star wars lego boxes.  He's actually going to be selling off a lot of it in the next year or so.

That's the only downside to Lego. So much cool stuff, so little room.

And dust. All of my models are currently in my closet until I can find a suitable display case for them. Maintaining them if left out is not fun.

Nice. They are indeed still the best part.

I received the newest Star Wars Imperial Shuttle as a gift this year. Being that the UCS version is one of my dream models, having this one is fantastic.  :D

I got a Ferrari F40 kit as a gift from a friend of mine. It took a few hours to build, and it was pretty fun for my first lego kit in a really long time.

It is so nice in person. I am a Ferrari fan and this will make a nice addition to my small collection of Ferrari licensed model cars. Hopefully my photos do some justice. Build log after the "more" section!

Super cool!  I like how it's built using a lot of the 'traditional' shaped pieces.  To me it feels like cheating with all the specialized pieces that are pretty much only for a single application (like the mini's front fenders).

Thanks, I think many of the specialized sets are amazing looking but I tend to prefer the more traditional sets as they'll hopefully mix together better when my kids are old enough to play with them. I never had any LEGO growing up so don't want to make that same mistake with my kids.

I'm digging the number of right-angle connecty bits you get in the new sets. Never had (so many of) those when I was a kid.

I always loved those 'windshield' pieces.  You could always put one of those on a small plate, add some doors right behind the windshield and have a low profile car.

That's cool that they're adding more right angle connectivity--helps to foster thinking in 3d.  The older sets were very 2d in thought in terms of connectivity.

That's awesome.  :D  If you have the pieces for it, making the whole Space Invader section out of 1x1 pieces would make the design a little cleaner (symmetrical) IMO.  Still a sweet rest though.  :thumb:

I completely agree. When I originally ordered the parts it wasn't supposed to be a space invades wrist rest so I made do. Probably gonna get some more and clean up the design. Thanks though!

Do you run a BrickLink store by any chance?

Going to be soon

Nice. I'm working on a new MOC in LDD so I'll be all over BL soon.  :D

I wouldn't have thought there was a market for legos like there is for keyboards...but I wouldn't have thought there was a market for keyboards either!

Looks like the Mustang, correct?  Those A-pillars looked like they were pretty tough!

Yes it's a mustang gt500 designed by sheep on youtube.  Hardest part was the functioning brake pedals.  Very complex and hard to get just right, took almost an hour

It's techinc!  Haha!  I love them!  Easier to work with with less pieces, better pricing, mechanics!

Wow. That's awesome; working pedals! I'm quickly changing my mind...

OMG I LOVE TECHNICS!  Do you have a pic/vid of the functioning brake pedals?

I have this set--I think it was the only Technics set my dad would let me buy:

I absolutely loved building it!  You had to build the engine block, crankshaft, the pistons, the timing chain, and the steering rack.  In fact, I remember I even have one of the power modules that looks like a long stick (hope it doesn't have batteries in it still ) and even connected it to the dragster as you could to make it powered.  When it moved, the pistons move up and down like a real engine.  I was always captivated by how things work and this kit was my only exposure to that.  Who knows what I would have done in life if I would have had all the Technics sets I wanted...

This was my dream set back in the day:

And now that I'm older and my birthday is coming up, I need to get myself that toy I always wanted...

There is even an RC version, but that would have put it in the 1000 range YIKES!
WOW!  But that's actually not a bad price considering any decent RC car was $150+ back in the day (I have no idea how much they are now.)

These are some of the earlier Lego Star Wars sets. Not as detailed as the newer sets, but with a lot of charisma.

My dad has spent 23k+ on lego, mainly older trains and train-related sets, we have 20+ in total. We have a few duplicates among the older stuffs and some really nice sealed sets, like horizon express x4, metroliner, club car, sydney opera house, haunted house and the dirt crusher. I don't have any pictures so hopefully this link will do. http://brickset.com/sets/ownedby-niklasgustaf

The inside is awesome, full bucket seats, working steering and the best, working Tiptronic (the yellow things) with a dual clutch gearbox. You have the six-cylinder boxer in the back, although thats covered with a black plate for whatever reason. Even the gear selector works, in neutral you have no engine movement, in drive everything works and in reverse it changes.

Yeah, it's a new one (from EP VII - you can tell cuz the rectangular antenna dish). The classic one I want costs a pretty penny - the ultimate collector's series. A NIB is $6,000 US on Amazon, but if you're patient you can put together the pieces for a bit over $500

no thanks.

Theres a video on the page alienman posted :D
And yeah, $230 is way overpriced. I bricklinked mine for a little over $100. There are no real rare parts involved so you shouldn't have any issues finding them!
