Filco Majestouch 1 - Cherry MX clear
« on: Sat, 08 June 2013, 06:16:48 »
Here is my Filco Majestouch 1.
I changed the switches to Cherry MX Clear.
I think the PCB of Filco Majestouch 1 has only 1 layer (unlike Majestouch 2 with dual layer)
However, the quality of Majestouch is good, the plate is heavy, solid and thick.
Therefore, I'm quite happy with the sound, the quality keyboard after modded.
Here are some pictures, just for someone are looking for a cheap board to mod.
Enjoy.  ;)

Stock stiff springs? It's going to be a pain to change out springs if you ever wanted to switch.

Is that a stock plate?

I really like the feeling of the tickle tickle ... Clear.

Is that a stock plate?

Yes, it is the original plate

Yes, but I lubed springs with oil and the stems with grease, so for me the feeling is great.
Indeed, it's quite heavy in the feeling if I do the bottom out a lot  :))

May I ask where you got the modifiers from?

Are they doubleshot?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I got the modifier keys and function keys from Qwerkeys :
http://www.qwerkeys.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=59_72
They are not double shot but absolutely I have no trouble with the keys.
They have a good quality of plastic, nice colour and thick layer.
