Is Dota 2 a video game?
AoE2HD is NOT developed by the original Ensemble Studios staff.
Instead, devs of the Forgotten mod were hired to work on the Forgotten Empires expansion, while trying to maintain basically a fork. The HD edition has been a lackluster, though, with new bugs, multiplayer lag/sync problems etc.
I'm still entirely convinced, that the original AoE2 (that you can buy in a box on Amazon) with community patches and Voobly multiplayer client is a much better game to this day. I've bought the HD only for new campaigns.
Voobly and HD each have their pros and cons it would seem.Actually, I haven't had much time for AoE2 since African Kingdoms came out. Before that, the HD edition had been terrible, and add my dislike for Steam and poor performance in Wine back then. However, I hear, that Wine support has improved and Voobly now works with HD, thus even if you get the modern Steam release, you aren't stuck with its ****ty multiplayer. I believe pros still play the original boxed version though, and I find it much better too. In part thanks to content like Age of Chivalry: Hegemony.

Downwell. It's a Japanese shooter/platformer type thing. Maybe a smidge of Spelunky about it but more arcadey. You fall down a well shooting things with your gunboots. They recharge when you land on a platform or bounce on an enemy (but there are enemies you can't land on). The way to earn lots of extra health and survive past the second level is by combo-ing things on the way down without hitting the ground. Bloody difficult but incredibly fun. If you want something pick-up-and-play for 10 minute blasts every now and then it's spectacularly good.
Also playing Torchlight 2. I didn't like it much for the first half hour but I'm starting to get into it now. The story seems a bit dry and the graphics direction looks a bit middle of the road but the old clicking and leveling stuff is working its magic. I never got around to playing the Diablo games and this was on sale so I said I'd give it a lash.
Unreal goldUT is my favourite arena combat game and one of my all-time favourite games, period. When it first came out my coworkers and I battled over the office intranet after hours. good times! It's the only game that's perpetually installed on all of the computers in my home.Show Image(http://www.mobygames.com/images/covers/large/998984230-00.jpg)
if only it had more quake sounds in it :(
Age of Empires 2 HD: Rise of Rajas expansion just released the other week. Nice to see it getting updates and patches after nearly 18 years.I was suckered into getting the HD version after not playing the game in many years. It looks great and satisfies my need for nostalgia but it's just not the same somehow. Probably because the friends I used to play it with don't play any longer :(
Probably the only game from the 90s still in active development by the original makers.

I really like the house mods, the amount of effort some people put into them is amazing. The Elysium Estate just outside Whiterun is my favourite.

How do you all balance so many games? Every time I play more than two games at once I stop playing them altogether and they go unplayed for months.
I played SUPERHOT in VR at my bud's house the other night. I was in there for about 15 minutes and literally felt a fleeting second or two of slight depression after taking off the headgear. I can totally relate to the Lawnmower Man now. He has HTC brand running under Steam. I was impressed by how responsive and light-weight it was compared to the last time I tried VR (in 1998!).

Don't buy one before you play for 2 hours...
I got serious eye strain.. and vergence/accomodation reflex problems after only 30 minutes..

I had discomfort after about 15 minutes..
Ignored it, then after about 30 minutes.. I just couldn't take it no more, it was this dull pain in the back of my eyes..
This is actually a major problem they're trying to solve with current VR hardware.. Vergence / Accommodation reflex
There is a certain Reflex to your eyes, correlating the inward rotation and the focus of the lens in your eye.
These things are used to moving together in conjunction..
You develop this reflex beginning the day you began to see...
With current vr technology.. it's a fixed focus system.. Which means no matter the perceived distance to object, the lens in your eye has to stay in the same focus distance..
So the problem is, now with vr, you're breaking the reflex, which can have mild to severe consequences..
They're especially worried about this problem for Children, because children are still in the development stage of their ocular circuits and pathways...
A friend of mine recently got me into Ragnarok Online. I'm weirded out by the click-to-move control scheme, but it's fun enough to hold my attention atm.Ragnarok is one of the best MMO I have played.I had played it for 3 years since launch.
I've been on-and-off with gaming recently, mostly sticking to f2p mmos or browsing the good old steam library for something quick and easy. Looking forward to Star Citizen's more complete builds, but haven't checked it out since early 2.4.

My friends are still playing video games all day even though they have jobs. I just don't have the time for it anymore and I don't know what allows them to do it. Probably very little sleep.
They all made it to 65 during the beta I hit around level 19.
Been playing Leisure Suit Larry..
I recently completed INSIDE and now working on a second run-through with alternate ending. What a game! Highly recommend! :thumb:
I loved LIMBO and I was ecstatic when I found out Playdead had a similar game in the works but, man, I didn't expect to be blown away with INSIDE. I kept having to pause the game at certain "milestone" moments to literally keep from laughing and/or crying with excitement and awe (moments like meeting the Mermaid and becoming part of the Huddle)! I can't even imagine what they come up with next.I recently completed INSIDE and now working on a second run-through with alternate ending. What a game! Highly recommend! :thumb:
Inside is probably the best quick indie game I've ever played. Especially after playing through Limbo. I really hope Playdead makes more games, they're brilliant.

I hear you there, same thing happened to me through FFXIV Alpha/Beta. Part of it was due to keeping up with story while everyone else just blew through it, "pfft, story is for release!".

What are the differences between this and Wii U version, in terms of additional features and gameplay?
Ah, okay. Won't get a Switch for a few years, but probably will pick this up when I get the console.

But,, overwatch ?
I suspect the general skill level of people playing FPS has just improved over time. People spending more time on their computer, faster internet and watching of competitive matches on twitch and the like all factor in.
I gave up for the moment. I love FPS but my reflexes are failing me. I guess I need a proper board first. But then back in the day I just played cs1.6 with rubberdomes. I guess I just suck..Sucks when that happens doesn't it? :D I've been dealing with something similar.

It's one of the reasons I've kind of put Overwatch on the shelf and started on Black Desert.
Trying to focus on one single-player title at a time. Finishing up BotW (just need to do Hyrule Castle and kick Ganon's butt), then have P5 and NieR: Automata on the dock.

Good points, solid reasoning, 10/10. But then... I use keyboard as mouse button. But then I have to "slow down" my mouse accelaration from my hand from left to right. This proves to be more difficult than anticipated. When I use mouse button to click, it feels somewhat easier to slow down just at the right moment.

Finally getting around to BOTW bb
I'm late 6 years for Skyrim but I'm glad I picked that game up. TFW CTD so I will have to put that on hold for awhile as I play some Overwatch. I also played some HOTS last weekend because of Blizzard's marketing ploy

Alan Wake. That 90% sale really got me lol. Definitely not into any thriller/horror games but this game is very well done. It's creepy and dark (which I don't enjoy) but it's literally $3.Very good game for that price.
Gonna start P5 and The Surge soon, just gotta get to Ganon in BotW...
Recently reinstalled counter strike 1.6 and am happily surprised that there are still some very active servers on some old familiar maps!Man the old CS was so good. I can't even count the number of hours I've spent on it.
Loading up CS:S after investing any amount of time into CS:GO is so refreshing. Gun skins and bi-monthly steam sales on the game have made CS:GO a haven for toxic players. Some of them are even moving to ESEA now. :(Recently reinstalled counter strike 1.6 and am happily surprised that there are still some very active servers on some old familiar maps!Man the old CS was so good. I think we are well over 1000 hours by now.
I can't play it anymore though, at least no Global Offensive, it's changed too much for my taste I don't like it anymore. Might be time to try and dig out the old CS 1.6.
Is anyone feeling burned out from BotW? I still haven't gotten my hands on a Switch, but at least 2 of my friends who are playing it are saying they've actually put it aside after putting in a TON of hours because all the side quests and whatnot have them burned out. I'm the type that tends to get super obsessed with a game if I like it (case in point: almost 30 hours of Person 5 after only owning the game for a week...and I have a full time job).

I think if you put too much time in one side quest it definitely can burn you out. There is a lot to do in the game, and for the past week I've been dedicated to hunting down Korok seeds. I'm getting a bit burned out, so I'm going to switch it up and go back to the main story for a bit.
The thing about getting Korok seeds, though, is that you have to climb a lot of mountains, glide across a lot of areas, and fight a lot of enemies on the way. Those add to a nice mix from just getting the seeds, and I find that it adds variety.
Also, it may not be for them. If you like to 100% games, and don't have a lot of time, you may get overwhelmed by the sheer size of BotW. Oddly, I don't have a lot of time, I like to 100% games, and I'm having a blast. Easily one of the top five games I've played.

Finally starting this one on The switch, taking a mini Break from Persona 5 which while great just takes so much time plopped in front of a TV to get into, time I frankly don't always have. Sort of wish Persona 5 was on Switch for that reason so I could play it anywhere.
Given how poorly it runs on PS3 I'm not sure how feasible it would be on Vita were Atlus to even consider it.I am Setsuna

Mostly that you will not be able to access the DLC after beating the boss without starting over in New Game+ since the DLC is accessed within the main game. After you beat the final boss, that's it - you start over.
Personally I would recommend doing Ashes right after getting the Lordvessel - then doing Ringed City right before finishing the game. RC is very difficult though, so be ready for that.
So what is everyone picking up in the steam sale? I have Ori, Goatpunks, Transistor, Oxenfree and Another World in my cart right now, already bought my girlfriend Shadows of Mordor. Not sure what I'm getting yet. I will probably not get anything that's not on my wishlist.

Wonderful symmetry with the lotion, mousepad, wild lettuce pipe, and beer. The paper towels really do set the scene, much wow is eminent
Since the English version has dropped, I am getting sucked back into F/GO again. Glad to be able to read it this time, even though the localization has been shoddy so far. Plus, I think I'll be in this longer than I was in the JP version.

Just got the DLC for Zelda BotW. Absolutely love that game! Worth buying a switch for.
I think this'll end up a likely black Friday purchase for me. I can't really justify a console for one game but so many rave reviews!Just got the DLC for Zelda BotW. Absolutely love that game! Worth buying a switch for.
that game is big enough without a dlc. jeez.
Definitely worth it, plus there are loads of other good games coming out. Been playing it for the Wii U. I seriously can't get enough of it. It's become a daily thing that I remind myself that at some point I'll be done with the game. It makes me sad, but there are a bunch of games I've put on the back burner because of it this.Yeah I agree. I've been playing for hours and "completed" it but there's so much still to do. The new thing that maps your last 200 hours was a real eye opener as to how much I still haven't done.
After 110+ hours, it's hotly contending for my favorite game of all time.

I'm not even into the DLC yet, but I own it!
Well, I did the Hero's Quest and it was funny. Didn't realize I warped to shrines so much.
I definitely want to 100% this game.
Black desert online
But honestly, if there's a better mmorpg out there I would switch immediately

I tried to get into it but I wasn't a fan. I played Blade & Soul for awhile and a couple friends have switched back to FFXIV now.

I've been playing Black Desert Online for a few months and I'm enjoying it. I really like the sandbox elements. In a way, it kind of reminds me of a Rune Factory game.

I've been playing through Black Mesa and just bought BeamNG.drive which is lots of fun and I've barely scratched the surface.
I also dug out Midtown Madness off an old external hard drive and have been multiplayer-LAN-game testing it to see if I can make something work via Hamachi for some friends to get together for some old game time (the answer looks to be 'yes').Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/mUSOyMF.png)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/dFmuRMn.png)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/Oaoyl7t.png)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/NogHoan.png)
I'm not having nearly as much luck with Midtown Madness 2, ironically. It absolutely won't get along with the graphics drivers for either my Intel HD3000 or Quadro 2000M.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/38AiprF.png)

Oh man! My workmates and I used to play Midtown Madness after-hours when it first came out. I ran across the disc just the other day while cleaning. Cops n Robbers on the San Francisco map was the best!
I'm not sure if I still have a rig that could run it....
I've been replaying Symphony Of The Night for PS1 again. Last time I played the game it was a digital release, and I have to say that playing directly off the disc the response times seem quicker. I think they slightly ****ed up the input response time in the digital translation to create a fraction of a second of lag during input.
At any rate, the game totally holds up. It's much shorter than I remember (especially since the second half of the game is just the first half upside-down) and only gets me wondering what more they could have done with a 2D Castlevania had it been on a DVD or BR disc. The 2D effects are top-****ing-notch and I would argue that SotN has perhaps the best sprite-work on the PS1. Fun little fact - I ran the disc on the PS3 and on a PS1 and playing on the PS1 actually made some of the effects look better(transparency effect, for example,) which really goes to show how specifically tailored to the system this game was.
There is a fair amount of backtracking, which is a valid criticism people have of this game, but where to go next is never convoluted and the music and enemy placement make backtracking withstandable, and even sometimes pleasurable.
There are two or three sections of the game which are designed in cheap ways so as to **** the player over forcing them to retrace a fair amount, and yeah they pissed me off, but they are few and far between and eventually you get powerful enough to bypass most of these situations.
All in all, Symphony Of The Night is a testament of what Konami used to represent and is a worthwhile investment of time. Now I just wish they would release a collection of all the GBA and DS Castlevania games.
Woah, that's quite a classic fleet you have there. That test video brings back some good memories! "More tea, vicar?"
That whole gaming era of the mid-late '90s/very early 2000s, when 3D engines were coming into their own, might be my favorite time for gaming. Mostly because I had a LOT of fun with the new (at the time) online capabilities of playing with friends and not having to be in the same room. Games like Ultima Online, Starcraft, Midtown Madness, Unreal Tournament, Age of Empires, etc....
good times, good times.
Started playing Stardew Valley a few days ago.. might be a few days.. or weeks.... It's hard to tell, it's addictive :))

I'm playing the same thing. It's a fun game. I really like how you're not entirely pigeon holed into doing anything. I'm a bit, just a bit, Type-A when I play games like this though so I find myself mapping out growth times versus cost/profit and such to maximize gains. So, I've got a large strawberry farm right now since it's Year 3 Spring.

Yeah, I've got too much old tech...this is an ongoing problem, and the post you quoted is nothing compared to some of the insanity.
W520 is my daily driver so-to-speak. Toughbook CF-52 is my auto repair software laptop. CF-51 was supposed to be flipped but the interested party backed down. Dell 630m I've had for ages, was bought in 2010 to be a family member's first computer but that got sidelined so it sat on a shelf for years. The Acer was picked up for ~$1 for the hard drive and RAM within, but it ended up being a working laptop so I may try to sell it.
The ThinkPad T21 was given to me by a friend, the backlight wouldn't turn on. Fixed it and now have a neat retro ThinkPad, and since it's a P3 it's somewhat usable which is a bonus.
Completely agree about the games of that time period. The burst of new technology that came out of that window in history is really significant. The prevalence of 3D acceleration being included out of the box for a new machine or video card was (this pun wasn't intentional) a game changer.
I posted some musings/ramblings specific to MM1/MM2 here (http://kishy.ca/?p=1334).
That being said, I dug out my steering wheel and have been spending some quality time with BeamNG.drive and it's incredible. To run smoothly I had to drop the quality settings but the experience isn't hurt any meaningful amount by having done that.
DEAD CELLS

PS: anyone got good suggestions for a local coop (couchtime, same screen, same PC) RPG? (my gf is looking for one to play together, but none of the ones we tried seem to be good enough (went through Victor Vrad, Dungeon Sieges, Magica, etc. etc.)...

looks pretty cool on utube.
iffy of early access...
They should enforce a due by date, if a quantity of content does not arrive by such date.. refunds..
Early access is really the wrong type of incentive, because they'd drag it out as long as possible doing the minimum, because they've already got your money.
World of Warcrack.Oh man that stuff can get pretty bad.

The first 5-7 years of that games life I was addicted. Sacrificed every social connection I had because I just couldn't get off the game.
It finally changed too much for my tastes so I doubt I'll be back now.
But it remains to this day the most addictive game I have ever played. Blizzard made something special there, and I don't regret the money I spent on it.
I made some friends that are still friends to this day and I made some enemies too. Great ****in' game.

Been stuck on Fortnite for the past couple of weeks
I was just talking to a co-worker about WoW. We said that we both made accounts but refrained from playing it. I think he made it a whole month and quit, and I quit after about an hour after making the character. We both agreed that, if we got into it, we would be sucked into it. We both have the addictive personalities.
I just started playing Alien vs Predator 2 [PC] again (publishing date circa 2001ish).
So far the largest server I've been on has had 6 players. Those who say any modern game is "dead" have no idea what they are talking about.
Did anyone start on PoE again?
I have a low-level ranger I'm just ****ing around with atm.

If you like WipeOut or F Zero, definitely check this out, it looks stunning, super fun to play and runs like a dream. 3440 x 1440, everything maxed, 100fps no sweat. It's more GPU intensive than CPU intensive which I generally prefer. Less than Ł10 on Bundlestars right now :D

I just finished The Elder Scrolls: Arena main quest and now I'm considering beginning The Walking Dead: Season 2.
Yes. I LOVE Daggerfall! I played it a year after it was released. It was my first CRPG that I played on my first computer I ever owned. At the time I had only played JRPGs on consoles. Mmm, as a grown man I'm ashamed to say but I'm just too addicted at this point to care... I LOVE Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Can't stop playing it and I'm looking for some friends to play with from time to time (Europe/Australia).I haven't had a Nintendo console or handheld in a while but this is the game that might be my tipping point when a switch version comes out. Just started playing the phone version and it's nice so far. Doesn't seem to in your face about microtransactions.
Haven't played any games in about three years so this got me hooked out of the gate. Is Animal Crossing: New Leaf on 3DS even more fun?!

Had a 1155 socket cpu and DDR3 ram, so I picked up an i5 7600k, 16gb of Ripjaws (goddamn DDR4 is expensive) and putting it all on an EVGA Stinger z270 and in a CM Elite 130 (front is kinda ugly imo, especially coming from a Corsair, but seemed like the best functionality and size otherwise). Only things I'm bringing over is my gtx770 and PSU.
Super excited to do what's basically my first full new build since I built a few friends' a few years back.

Finished Witcher 3 main story yesterday. I've loved the general challenge the highest difficulty level has given me, but for the final boss fights it was boring AF. The Eredin fight was 10 minutes of "dodge when he teleports, slash him after, run towards him in an arc when he's casting abilities". I wouldn't have minded a fight that changed at specific health stages (like different abilities or whatever).
I got the "good" ending for Ciri.

now its time to start modding the game!

Or beginning the expansions :)
The thing to be mindful for with mods is warnings in the mod description or from users about save file corruption. A number of mods (off my head for example the one that displays all PoIs on the map, and another that affected Triss) caused some players I know to get stuck and not be able to progress. Most aren't like that though.
Just an FYI Grim Fandango Remastered is free on GOG and it's super good.

Bought more games from the Steam sale... Probably gonna sit there like the rest because I've been playing games like Destiny 2 with the little downtime I feel like I have.
Destiny 2 is fun, but it gets old quick after you complete the weeklies and aren't playing with other people. They really need to add more chat options because locking it down to fire team and personal chat makes you feel like you're in a bubble.

I wanted to like that game more than I eventually did. I had a lot of hope and fun when it came out. Definitely got my moneys worth.. However, I just uninstalled it a couple days ago after having not played for some weeks. I put an embarrassing amount of time into the first one and I'm super bummed I feel this way about the second, I didn't even bother to buy the dlc. I'm hoping this game turns around cause it was a blast. I am glad someone is enjoying it though.
My wife is making me play VR The Diner Duo with her. It's a silly VR game where one person sits at the PC and takes orders in a hamburger restaurant and the other person wears the Vive and makes the orders... We both suck at remembering the orders so whoever is "cooking" always ends up frustrated that orders are getting jumbled...

I blame FFXI (Final Fantasy 11) for ruining a lot of single player games for me and steering me towards looking for similar experiences, haha. The grind to level and then farm gear at end-game was almost masochistic, even with a good group and preparation (pre-ToAU nerf fest) it forced you to become more knowledgeable about your class, group, and enemies. It's definitely a case of rose-colored glasses, because what really made it so memorable was struggling to accomplish goals with other people and facilitating bonds by working through those hardships; that's just not something you really find anymore with how many new games aim to make things ridiculously rewarding and/or overly scripted to the point that accomplishing anything doesn't feel like an accomplishment, but more of an entitlement.
There's a lot of problems with Destiny2 that stem from Bungie's/Activision's decisions; the gameplay is fun, but it's not really enough to keep it going. So I understand how anyone can get tired of it after playing through the story and touching base with what's left to do.
There aren't any plans for a Dark Souls Online (may be with the masochism scaled down? Haha!), is there?

StickyBlueJuice watched an intruding male from the living room door. He deeply disapproved of this inferior specimen. However, this is america, and he must accept that there are individual freedoms which old-world patriarchy can not impede.
Little while later, the male-intruder disappeared leaving only an uninteresting goodbye text.
StickyBlueJuice feigns sympathetic grief, and inserts himself as a comforting presence among the sister and family.
Years after, he discusses the subject on any occasion in order to absolve himself as a suspect in the mysterious disappearance.

Not so sure about what it's called because I'm playing chinese version, but it's more or less the same as Majima's "Nightlife Island" in Yakuza 0.

I started playing They Are Billions. It is so hard but so fun. I have had it close to a week and still can not beat the first map. This game, They Are Billions, intrigues me. Steampunk Starcraft, anyone?...what else could one ask for? I'm hesitant to get into another RTS due to having to learn and memorize new controls. Even the wizard character from the newest Gauntlet discouraged me. I'll probably just stick to the classics like Starcraft and Age of Empires, cuz I'm old and junk. :p I do enjoy making maps for these games, though.
The only foreign released game I own is the Initial D extra stage from Hongkong on the PS3..
I thought about getting the ROTK official discs as well.. but it's too late and I can't find any officials.. mostly counterfeits.

it is so much easier to just get them on Steam for games like ROTK and Nobunaga's ambition
This may be a bit off topic to this thread, but does anyone here do game streaming? I was looking at Parsec, and I'd really be interested to see if this stuff works. It'd be nice to rack-mount a monster gaming rig, and play from various places around the house.

I didn't really get to into pillars of eternity when it came out, but I picked it up again this week and I am LOVING it. I'm not even that far in and it has completely consumed my week. I felt like getting into some more RPG stuff since my dnd group can't get together very often due to conflicting schedules and poe totally scratches that itch so to speak.yeah I got it and couldn't get into it either. Have you tried to Divinity OS I or II?. Both are pretty great.

Also got PoE and couldn't get into it. The combat system was just way too clunky and slow for my tastes, so combat started to feel like a chore and I lost interest.

Day of Defeat? No, though I think I have it in my library. I have the same name on PC/Xbox/etc. though so there's a chance you may have seen me somewhere else.
Finally got around to picking up Witcher 3. Very hesitant due to how much I disliked Witcher 2, but it seems the formula's been reworked and everyone seems to love it.Some must have mods I would say are Absolute Camera(freedom to set the way you want how the camera behaves during battle and out of battle), Skip Movies(skips the usual annoying movies at the game's startup), Friendly HUD(can help clean up the HUD if preferable to just take in this beautiful game), Better Torches(makes traversing the nights easier), All Quest Objectives On Map(makes it easier to plan out your routes in finishing quests) and finally the HD Reworked Project(improves models and textures, may have a very slight performance hit).
Anyone got any mod suggestions before I get started?
Cuphead has stolen my heart as well as my ability to keep calm. That game is so damn hard.

I still play Day of Defeat from time to time. Pretty good game, even to this day, and the playerbase seems decent still.
Currently playing D3 after the more or less recent update.
I haven't played D3 since 2015 I think... Whenever the expansion came out. I always wanted to go back and play it but I'm just so busy these days that I haven't had the time to.
Just got a free copy of Vermintide II. Anybody played it or the first one and have any opinions of it they'd like to share?I too got a free copy of it, I've got it downloaded but haven't booted it up yet.
My first experience with an Oculus was also back in 2014 or 2015. One of my coworkers brought in his dev kit and I played Dread Halls - by far the most terrifying game I've ever played. I couldn't play it for more than 10-15 minutes before I quit. :))

Yea I couldn't justify the price back then, but they lowered the price to $400 with the touch controllers.
I'll check out that Dread Halls game too. I'm looking into getting Doom 3 working with VR as well. Seems to have a lot of positive feedback for it.
I have the samsungearvr for my fone, I only played with it for a few days.. Severe eyeball pain..
It's unfortunate Tp4 am incompatible with VR xperience.. sigh....

Full VR is definitely nothing like phone VR. Phone VR gives me a headache after about 30 minutes but I was comfortable for a couple of hours with the Oculus.Yea I couldn't justify the price back then, but they lowered the price to $400 with the touch controllers.

I'm definitely not one for immersive horror games, but the one thing I know I would spend a lot of time on would be Skyrim VR.

i found mario 64 really confusing. never got through it myself..
CDs are better than cartridges in my opinion, because reliability wise a CD doesn't degrade much over the years. Cartridges oxidize much more rapidly when left to their own devices.
Some ~20yrs later I now know that I can clean the oxidization off cartridge contacts, but I can't clean the oxidization from the metal in a CD.
I should check out Ocarina Of Time or perhaps some of the older Zelda games tho. I feel like mario 64 was just the beginning. Maybe grab a console instead of slumming it with the NDS.

check the internals, make sure nothing corroded i think the batteries might be able to do that given enough time.

Do N64 carts have batteries for saves? I can't remember.
I know NES and GB/C/A cartridges do. Those can be replaced, and there are even things you can solder onto the PCB so that, in the future, to replace the battery all you have to do is swap them out instead of having to desolder and solder every time.
For cleaning, I open them up and use rubbing alcohol on the inside of the shell and contacts. Here's the guide I follow: http://retrorgb.com/cleangames.html.

The Brasso should be done only in extreme cases. I had to use it once on a Kirby cartridge. Would not play before; after the Brasso it worked, but the colors were wrong. Don't know what the heck the previous owner did to it.
As for preserving saves, you can invest in cart dumpers. I got a GB/C one off Tindie for about $20.

packed it up.. never picked it up again. hahahahaha
Civ 5 bingeing for the past week, but looking for a new 4x game to whet my fancy. Preferably something fantasy flavored, but cannot decide between picking up Age Of Wonders III or Endless Legend.
Started playing FFXV on PC... OMG, THE CLOTHING FLIES EVERYWHERE!! Trying to fix the bug w/o capping at 30 fps, lol.

This is what you deserve for playing games with nekkid jap girlz..
Just got a free copy of Vermintide II. Anybody played it or the first one and have any opinions of it they'd like to share?
Been sucked into Fork Knife. Hoping to start a new Path of Exile toon after vacation though!
cave in and bought Mario Odyssey. fun but i still miss the 2D MarioHave you played much? If so how is it? Picked up a switch and looking to buy some games. Also I've been playing way too much Rainbow Six and its great :) Hype for the new season!
I've been on the fence for a while now for picking up a playstation for god of war and the upcoming kingdom hearts game.
Was just gonna wait it out to see if they go on sale anytime soon. So excited!
I've slowly been getting back into Destiny 2 following the mass exodus that Curse of Osiris created. Warmind is a baby step in the right direction, but it'll be a long time before Bungie can even come close to regaining the trust of its playerbase considering how much better the first game was. For now I'll be playing a bit more casually, maybe raiding once or twice a week with some PVP sprinkled in, but that's about it. I'll be keeping a close eye on any Forsaken-related news because I sure as hell won't be getting it when it comes out, let alone pre-ordering it (learned my lesson the hard way from the season pass).
Nothing at the moment, but hoping to get back in Breath of the Wild. :thumb:
Started Witcher 3 now that I got a new PC to play it properly. A few hours in and I like it so far.

The world is so immersive. Easily my most favorite game.
I just booted the game and I was running everything at the same rez and values as usual but at a RIDICULOUS 300-400fps. Lasted two 1 hour sessions, then I was back to the 120 average.
Any idea what happened?

I haven't heard user reports even on a 1080ti of 300-400fps. No idea, other than perhaps it was being misreported. Do you have any framerate limiting options enabled either in-game or externally like V-Sync or RivaTuner's framerate capper? As if so you should only be ever getting the max framerate your monitor can support.
Dead Cells, Subnautica, Narcosis, and Resident Evil 5 have been taking up most of my endless spare time.
I just started playing Witcher 3. Don't know why I took so long to pick it up. So good.at least I guess you got a good deal now ;)
at least I guess you got a good deal now ;)
and you're not that late compared to me just recently starting diablo III. Had it for some time now, but never started it :D
trying to get my StreetFighter game back up on the Switch currently though.
I played a lot of Diablo III when it came out, but haven't touched it since probably 2015. Nothing beats raiding with friends though.

Been playing Warframe for the past couple months. If you like Destiny 2 then you'll prolly like it.
It's free to play, but I like how everything in the game can be attained without spending a dime. There are cosmetics that are locked behind the premium currency (platinum), but you can sell in game items to other players for platinum to buy them. I spent ~$60 so far, but don't think I'll ever need to buy more when I can just sell items. I figure that's about the price of a premium game anyway, so I'll get a bit of a head start as well.
It's honestly a great system, and I hope more free to play games follow this model in the future. There is a lot of grinding, but that's kind of expected from a game like this.

Eh not really into mobile games. I only play games when I'm at home anyway.
Currently I am playing dead space, pretty tight game.Yeah it's a great game. One of the few horror titles that actually had my heart rate up in a few places.

I think the worst thing about Warframe is the initial start-up, to be honest. Without someone to mentor you, it's pretty tough to get into. Too many mechanics to learn, everybody too far ahead of you, not being able to get decent weapons as they're all MR locked. You have to spend about 50 hours in-game until you're at the point where you can keep up with other players.
Once you're at that point though; I agree, it's a fantastic game.
1200 hours wasted and counting.
(Also Fortuna hype).

Arena of Valor !!!
Best game in the History of Mankind..
These days when I play simple games I ask myself how the developers done did did it. The shear wizardry I tell ya.

Play Arena of Valor, the programming behind it is an art-form..
It is incredibly battery efficient, despite great graphics..
The control latency, engine syncing, social engineering, all extremely elevated..
I agree that there is alot of good OLD stuff.
Warcraft 3 Dota epitomized Gaming. Moba gamestyle that kids take for grant these days, IS in fact the ultimate interactive entertainment, perfectly tuned for human engagement.
It has the perfect blend of action and strategy..
AOV, is the most Polished Moba ever, finally removing the tediously bulky elements.
AOV is like 100% pure cocaine, vs LeagueOL which is at best 25% .
I'm just not the type for MOBAs. When I'm in the mode for newer games I prefer action based combat MMOPRGs/rpgs (probably said this before.. like Tera--even tho the NEET factor is off the chart).
I'm cool with researching dungeons, planning out what weapon/gear drops to look for, enemy weaknesses, damage cycles, etc.
Wish I had more time for them to be honest. When I find a new one the first thing I do is turn off (mouse) click to move.. :-[

Many people have trouble getting into MOBA, because Dota2, LeagueOL, Dota OG, are all very long and has tedious item tree.
Arena of Valor and Mobile legends are very different, they're simplified and work much better as moba entries..
They're also much shorter games 10-15 minutes vs 45minutes to 1hr on D2, LOL, D1
Dota 2 has since received a "Turbo" mode; which generally cuts the games down to 25-35min, doubles gold and generally is wayyy more forgiving than normal. It's not bad; It was a little off putting at first; but definitely pretty nice compared to the 45-1hr games if you don't have much time to spare.

You speak the truth hahaha; Turns it back into regular Dota with bonus gold -_-. Seems like alot of team comps that I played against were built around ratting comps too. Not exactly the most fun way to play imo, but it wins I guess

U guys need to play AOV, I've tried original Dota, Dota 2, LOL, they're all slow as mollasses compared to Mobile Legend or Arena of Valor.
Can't stop playing Dota. Everytime i try to quit and play other games but i always come back. No other game offers nearly the depth/responsiveness to obsession. I've been playing dota for like 10 years now and I still learn new mechanics/interactions all the time.

You can't get in easily because they are less likely to install unknown software to their person PCs.
So, you make a pc game.. all the young people install it, NOW you have your attack platform as it runs on their house wifi..

idk I feel like the games chosen for the Playstation Classic are all C and D tier PS1 games. The only two main attractions on there are MGS and FF7, maybe Sony blew the entire licencing budget on those two. This list of games ****ing sucks compared to what the PS1 library has to offer, sorry Sony. Most people will only get this for MGS and FF7, both you could get legit versions for much less than $100

I don't play much these days, but a few minutes of "Unreal Tournament 2004" from time to time is quite fun.

Yes! Or any time you need to expel pent-up anxiety. Coffee before an interview works too but not too much. There's about a quarter cup difference between being confidently alert and getting the sweats and tremors. I've restarted Neverwinter Nights recently, since GOG released the EE version (Enhanced Edition, or something).Never got to play Neverwinter Nights it's a regret of mine. I just haven't had the time. How are you finding it?
I usually play as a human fighter (most options to hit things with sharp bits of metal), but this time I'm playing as a dwarf fighter.
I don't know if there's any different options for a dwarf, but it's been sufficiently long since I played it that I can't remember all of the quests.
I play League occasionally, and have been getting back into the Dark Souls games lately.

Gotta love league, I have personally been trying to play other games as well. Been wanting to take some time to try and play through The witcher 3 properly... and also Bayonetta!

Same! I feel like I'll never play through The Witcher 3 properly... there's just so much in that game. I downloaded Destiny 2 (PC) yesterday since it's free right now. Haven't played it yet, but I've heard mixed reviews. I'll be playing that sometime today :)

Oh I downloaded that myself, and played through the intro. Seems like a decent shooter, but I can see why people criticize it as it does seem like they want to squeeze your money out of you. :))

Lego Harry Potter. Reminds me of why I hate the Lego games so much, god they are so tedious. So creatively executed, yet so boring to play.

That sums up my assessment from watching some play-through videos. Nice to look at, but repetitive to play. Thank you for confirming and saving me a little money.
Finished the story in Red Dead Redemption II.I got RDR2 as an early Xmas gift. The graphics on this thing! I zoomed in on a postcard I was holding and was mesmerized by the detail in Arthur's glove--the textures, loose fibers, stains--amazing!
Fantastic game. I hope the rumors are true and it comes out on PC. Would love to see what kind of fps my rig could potentially pump out. :D
I agree with you. I am lousy at aiming with a controller. But you actually get kinda used to it if you play enough. :DFinished the story in Red Dead Redemption II.I got RDR2 as an early Xmas gift. I was hoping for a pc release but I got it for Xbox1. I loathe using a modern controller. I think there's something wrong with my thumb, too, 'cause it takes me forever to fine-tune a target in FPSs. If a controller has more than, say, 6 buttons I have to think before doing stuff and that can take me out of the game.
*grrrrrr...grumpy middle-aged anger...grrrrrr*
Maybe you're right. I've been playing Halo games with xbox controllers since the beginning of Halo and I was actually pretty good at it (especially against my friends). Then I went through a time when I played a lot more PC games than console ones and I fell out of touch, so to speak. Once my 7-year-old nephew began pwning me in multiplayer, I knew there was problem. :confused:I agree with you. I am lousy at aiming with a controller. Just doesn't take much for you to 'lose form' so to speak.
I've been having a lot of fun playing the first RDR game for the first time ever(since I aint got no PS4)Hmmm...that's an interesting bit about the game seemingly reading your thoughts. If games were indeed scripted based on player input then every characters I've ever played in a RPG would be saying "Now, where did I leave my car keys?" because I wander around a lot admiring graphics details.
Out of everything, the writing and character dialogue were very well-handled and impressive. Many times during the game I would think something out loud and John would immediately voice the same opinion I just had, which is very interesting psychologically. I think this idea could be further harnessed by adjusting the prescripted dialogue based upon player action, perhaps it actually is idk. Miles ahead of almost anything GTA. Unfortunately as with any Rockstar sandbox game the mission design is extremely restrictive and repetitive sometimes, although it was a last-gen title so there were some understandable technical limitations. But I'm trying to play this more for the atmosphere and story, as opposed to running around causing random destruction, so I am a little more OK with the hand holding with this title.

Two questions: Do I need to download MUGEN ahead of time? Or can I just download the game and play?
There are a few MUGEN-based fighting games I've been wanting to play but I always assumed I needed to download and configure MUGEN ahead of time--kind of like downloading an emulator, configuring all the settings, and then playing the ROM.

In terms of the HD remake the first one was so good, but it felt like the second two were rushed or had a different asset team. Especially 3, there were a lot of poor decisions made with that one.
Skater XL has been wilin, once the devs clean up the animations it will easily surpass Skate 3 in terms of raw game play imo.

Dey got injected Digi-film grain just for connoisseurs such as yourself.
In all seriousness though a lot of the Netflix shows have a somewhat similar “clinical” look, probably because they followed the same production guideline (which doesn’t look bad at all, they have really really high requirements). Thanks to Netflix we have some of the most eye pleasing shots of food porn (Chef’s Table) and the most expensive looking TV ever (The Crown).
Digi film grain also looks great in Stranger Things.

Quite a few "aha!" moments.
Limbo is freaking great, I loved it:)
I finsihed it two times.
Graphics are amazing, giving the whole spirit and aura of that place.
Little Nightmares were similar, also I suggest you to try it, really good one, similar to Limbo. Play of colors and light, really cool.
Now, I played Soma for about 2 minutes and cannot do it anymore. It is SO scary... Last time I almost s*** my pants during game was like 13 years ago plyaing Fear.
Soma is a kind of game that you don't want to play alone. You need to have somebody sitting next to you:D
How replayable is Limbo? For me the best part is working out the solutions to the puzzles. Once you've done that, it would pretty much be just eye candy on a re-run.
Little Nightmares noted for future reference, thanks :)
Started Limbo.

Limbo wore thin for me. It got a bit repetitive the first go around, and it severely lacks replayability unless you are one to go for clear times, because every puzzle pretty much just has the one solution,
I'd recommend a game called Inside. It improves on every single facet of Limbo while remaining faithful to that feel, play style, and aesthetic. Although again there is not much in the way of replay due to the nature of the game, but there is much more of it and it is done better than Limbo is. So if you're looking for an indie faceless shadow child dying brutally game, try Inside instead.

I don't remember the "faceless shadow child dying brutally" genre of games cropping up in any game awards :))

Got to finish Limbo first, which means finding the time ...
More Sekiro, getting better. Tomorrow getting Yoshi for switch. Perhaps grabbing risk of rain 2 for me and a bud.Sekiro is so good. Without spoiling for anyone, how far in are you?
Hmmm maybe some risk of rain 2 stream tomorrow night for my birthday drunken evening.

I forget how many hours I’m in, spent a good chunk of time farming yesterday. I’ve explored the best I can and left many of the hard parts to come back to, I’ve even made a list and going through it slowly. So far I’ve done two strength upgrades and four vit/post upgrades, as well as 8 gourd seeds found.

Yeah, I played a little Sekiro today and I don't like it. Too finicky and specific with it's mechanics, and the older I get the less patience I have for doing the same thing over and over and over again because I didn't do something within a fraction of a second. I don't have the patience or want to improve for this kind of game, it's just not fun to me. The parry mechanic has always been my absolute least favorite part of Souls games, and this entire game is built around just that. Done with it.

She was definitely the hardest fight for me still.
The game in general has been a steep difficulty for me, even though I love the souls games. Regardless of the game I never use parry or block, so focusing on deflecting has been interesting haha

It's always surprising to see how different people's experiences are with From's games. For me she was easily the most relaxed fight, granted I died on 1st attempt but I took her down with ease the second time. The 1st miniboss (General something) gave me so much more trouble and later on the dude on the watchtower nearly broke me mentally.
Yup, it’s always neat to see which characters we have a harder or easier time with. Can’t believe you did her so easy though haha
I killed a couple mini bosses first try today and then one took me a good hour or so. Guess it’s good I don’t have any real subscribers on twitch yet haha

I guess it's because her perilous attacks were pretty easy to tell and not very fast or I was just lucky haha.
One mini boss with a long spear (Seven Ashina Spears) is kicking my butt so hard that I honestly don't want to bother with him for now... the minibosses in this game are super tough.
And you can't say that without linking your twitch : P.

Mikiri Counter is the key imo, if you're not using it already. Just a half-second after seeing the Perilous symbol for the lunge (and when locked onto his position) press forward + dodge and Sekiro will slam his spear onto the ground dealing a chunk of posture damage. Apart from that deflecting the attacks and getting in some hits here and there without leaving too much room for him to regain posture and it's over fairly quickly. Took a while to get it all right though, *wew*.
Picked up Earth Defense Force 2025 which is super fun, despite it's flaws. A pretty ambitious game for the PS3. Wish I had a PS4 to play the updated version that still has online going, but playing as the Wing Diver class is a blast.

What a coincidence, Tp4 playing Kingdom Rush Origins, now on Steam.
I don't understand the configuration of those words. And if it doesn't have stick figures adventuring in an RPG fashion, I'm pretty sure it won't be worth my time anyway.
Been gettin' into Grim Dawn lately. It's great mindless fun, just killing swarms and amassing tons of loot which hits specific pleasure centers in my brain. Been in my library for years and just started to play it now. Some games are designed around how to stimulate those pleasure centers that hook their users. Why, just yesterday my gf said she's addicted to Word Blitz because of the tactile and aural feedback it provides. And I must concur, it is extremely satisfying.
Coworkers convinced me to play Apex Legends last night...
I was terrible...
I've been playing Mordhau lately. Absolutely love it.I am über crap at that game. I play with friends only, because I don't mind embarrassing myself in front of them. :D
I'm pretty crap, but sometimes do alright. Usually play with two of my friends who are Chiv vets so they are great to learn from. I'm a sucker for cosmetics too so getting to dress up my characters in cool outfits is 10/10.
I'm playing Word Blitz on Facebook. :-[

Can't remember the movie, but it was about a couple where the guy got the girl into drugs. The guy went to prison, got clean, then lead a regular life, while the girl would peer in around a dark corner.
Her internal struggle is of course, while she is happy for her former partner rising above street life, she is saddened and resentful over having been abandoned.
At the end of the movie, she dies, and it cuts to the guy celebrating his child's first birthday w/ the new wife.

Yeah, i thought so. Shovel knight was the best indie game i've ever played besides minecraft.
Had a mini lan party with some friends last weekend and started playing GTA Online again. Great fun with friends online.

I scanned that sentence too quickly and thought it was a "man party". Sorry about that.

Got burned from Pokemon after White. Well, I mean I played White for about an hour and realized it's just the same formula over and over and over. I like RPGs, but the story has to keep me engaged.to be fair, it is a pretty good formula. It definitely wears on you though
But with Sword and Shield coming out I decided to give White a second chance.

Yup, that's why I cannot understand how Pokemon lasted so long as a franchise. it's the exact same **** over and over and over. The peak was Ruby and Sapphire imo, it was all downhill/or should I say the same hill from that point on. That was the last one that really felt like a true sequel and upgrade to the series.

You're a 10-year-old kid with one/no parent(s). You begin by getting your first Pokemon from the main professor of the town. Mom kisses you goodbye and you leave.
You meet one/two main friends who help you throughout the game. You catch weak Pokemon, level them up, battle six gyms, then the Elite Four. All the while an evil/misguided gang is trying to capture/use Pokemon for their evil/misguided ways.
And throw in some gimmick to change the appearance of the older 'mon to make it seem "new."
All of the games I've played are like this. The other mainstream RPGs I played (e.g., Dragon Quest, FF, etc.) at least have different storylines and different kinds of characters. True, you start weak and grind up like any other RPG, but, as I mentioned, it's the story that keeps me engaged (and the attacks with flashy effects).
I started to feel the same way for TLoZ during Skyward Sword. In one of the levels, I even asked myself (alone in my living room), "Why am I even playing this game?" Didn't play a game in the franchise after that until BotW. I wasn't even excited for BotW until I started seeing streams of it after release. What a breath of fresh air for that series.

Did a few 10k+ farming sessions to spawn world boss for a 1-in-4 chance of cosmetic drop some years ago. Can confirm; very racket.
Been playing Remnant: From the Ashes since yesterday; really fun so far. Pretty difficult; while I have played souls-like games, I am by no means great, even good at them. This one has a good mix of melee/ranged combat, neat world and aesthetic; and is procedurally generated, even the first bosses friends and I have encountered solo have been different. I could be understanding it incorrectly. The game kind of reminds me of The Secret World, except without abysmal gameplay.

Remnant has been awesome. Co-op is so well done where friends can drop in and out and experience different fights each time.
There's a certain running GB that inspired me to pick up the Shadowrun Humble Bundle.
Can be retro/modern/PC/mobile/Tiger Electronics/etc.
Currently playing Chrono Trigger. Been putting it off for so long. Now that I have a bit of a break from studies I’ve been hunkering down when the rest of the family is asleep and trying to play as much as I can until school starts again.

Not far into it (about maybe a fourth, if that), but so far I really like it. The story and characters are a bit cliche by today's standards, but they are colorful and relatable. The battle system is very good, and I can see myself tweaking it soon to fit my needs. Playing on the DS Lite made me realize how small the screens are (been used to the 3DS XL screens), but it's definitely manageable.
I'm sure it has been mentioned here already, but I've been playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses on the Switch. This is my first Fire Emblem game and I'm really enjoying it. I will say the game gets a little repetitive but the various mechanics of the game keep it interesting.
Anyone else playing it? What are your thoughts?

Playing Blasphemous. It's good but far from great, or even being a flawed masterpiece. The game does seem to be on the short side, and ultimately it feels like a bunch of planned features were cut in the interest of time. I'm not a big fan of the soundtrack either, it is forgettable at best. There is a fair amount of backtracking, and it seems like the level designer has not worked on a Metroidvania game before due to how poorly areas flow together. The controls are tight and the combat is fun. I am always excited to encounter a new enemy type and see what they do. The art direction is amazing at times, but weirdly bland at others. I dunno, the game is good, but just feels rushed. There could've been so much more polish that would've elevated this from good to great. I like it much better than some similar offerings like Dark Devotion, Death's Gambit, and Slain. Honestly the aesthetic and story could've gone even darker. I think if we ever see a sequel it will come together as something really great, but this is still worth playing.

I think this just help me decide to wait awhile before getting Blasphemous. At least until there's a better sale. The atmosphere really resemble Dark Souls, of which I'm a huge fan of. But I'm already in the middle of playing Hollow Knight and my usual multiplayer games Rocket league and Rainbow Six Siege.

KOTOR 1 and 2.Classics! It's been 10+ years since I've played those and I still think about them from time to time. For me, they are the gold standard of what makes a great SW game....well, next to the Dark Forces series, that is. You can't beat Kyle Katarn!
After not touching it for a while, started a new Minecraft world. Last I played was 1.9, so there's a ton of content I've never seen.

Is there something more than just farming sim?I need to try this Stardew...
I've been playing a lot of Satisfactory and Factorio before that. I miss the automation part in Stardew Valley (unless I haven't played long enough). But it's so relaxing.

Been hooked on old school Runescape.
My buddy pulled me into Fortnite. Decided to see what the hype was about.
Division 2 and Borderlands 3, because I am a sucker for buggy looter shooters.Started playing Division 2 with some friends as well. I like it.

I bought Sonic Mania a week or so ago for a few bucks. I've only played it once, but it was pretty fun. I kept having a weird issue in which my Xbox 360 controller would lock in an input until I unplugged it. I haven't figured out how to play with my iBuffalo SNES controller yet (if it's even possible).Yup, it's the Friends-Not-Included Sydrome.
I've been playing Apex Legends lately too. It's fun if I can get matched with team members that aren't completely morons, which is actually quite rare. I'm almost always the one with the most kills or damage dealt when we inevitably lose. I've made it to second place twice, but usually my squad is one of the first to get eliminated.

Animal Crossing
There was an article saying people are starting AFK pandemic gardens, buying up everything at the plant nursery.
You can play animal crossing4real
Lots of Grim Dawn. Right now leveling a 2H melee acid Dervish build, at around lv50. Feel free to join in Looting and Leveling if you play GD, it's always better with more people.
If you're not playing Terraria 1.4 you are a loser
The Outer Worlds
Just league of legends :( although ive been feeling really nostalgic and got into FF7 and sped through it. Now I miss playing PS1-2 games.
Did they keep that effect in MCC where you can switch between the old and hd textures on the fly? I remember playing it on XBO and being blown away by that little feature.Yeah, they kept it in the port. I believe it is the tab key. I would use it every once in awhile to get a better view of where enemies were, as some levels were a lot darker in the H2 Anniversary edition.
There’s something about it that really speaks to my interests...Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/k7NknlS.jpg?1)

New one, Contracts 2 coming out end of this year, so more missions coming up:)
Now finishing Desperados 3, 3 missions to go.

Hey tp. What do you mean a camper? :)
Any other Path of Exile players on geekhack? I think I remember Sifo played, but who knows if he's around anymore...
I'm still relatively new (<300 hours) but I'm getting excited for my third league start with Heist in just over a week!

A friend just gifted me Among Us, so this should be interesting.
Is RDR2 online actually decent? I finished the campaign and didn't really give it a chance. May have to return.
I've finished Cyberpunk (the main story) and was looking into starting Control, since I've never played it and sales!
Still hades.
I need to add Hades to my collection, heard the soundtrack and that sold me buy itself.

How long did it take you to finish it?
I heard people saying its pretty short when you do main quests only.

If you're the type to only do the main quests, Cyberpunk is not for you. That being said, the main story is short, but only in the context of open world RPGs. It's maybe 15 hours.
Mostly Runes of Magic as a filthy casual. I'm not a compulsive spender, which can be a costly for some that get sucked into the PVP or hardcore PVE aspects of the game ($100-150/month+). I recently picked up DOOM IV, Fallout 4, and Skyrim remastered, and yet I'm still playing some goofy MMORPG WoW clone that is just as buggy as it was in 2009.

Man that was late to the party on both. Haha. I couldn't finish Doom 3 because the game was too scary.

Same here! Couldn't finish Doom 3, all those weird bold dead guys coming out of nowhere, doggy-style mosters... I liked that shotgun though...
However, now I kinda want to try it again, play that Doom 3: BFG Edition version.

Quick note on the BFG edition, it kinda split a lot of the people who liked Doom 3, because while on one hand it was updated a little bit and used some higher-res textures, on the other they messed with the lighting effects (the selling point of the original for a lot of people) to make them a bit more diffused, which led to fewer stark differences in lighting and fewer moments where you felt it was harder to see a monster.
Also, they made it so you can use both a gun and your flashlight at the same time, which kinda ruins some of the more suspenseful moments imo.

BFG is the only way to play D3 honestly. Lighting can be fixed and adjusted, but bad controls cannot (I mean literally the flashlight mod I guess)
Doom3 was designed in the CRT era. So to get authentic DARK FEELS you gotta have either OLED or CRT.
Have fun with it! I may not prefer BFG edition myself, but it is in no way an inferior version. Like keebs, it's kinda up to preference!
As for myself, I've just been crashing after work the past few nights, but I've gotten into a bit of a gaming mood. Not sure if I'm going to play Monster Hunter, Halo, or Doom Eternal just yet though... Maybe even some Octopath Traveller, but I want to get my speakers replaced first so I don't have to use headphones to hear the voice acting when running it through my monitor. Probably going to stick to PC stuff over my Switch until I can get that taken care of.

What speakers are you after?
I'm also in the middle of changing my speakers.
Selling my HK soundsticks and probably getting Kanto YU2.
OLED you're saying...
Well, so I'm in.
Now I definitely want to play it.
BFG of course.
See, just started to play Splinter Cell Blacklist for like 5th time, only this time I really noticed advantage of my new OLED screen. Those black areas in this game look totally different than on my previous VA panel.
Ok guys, will try BFG tonight and let you know😊
I bet I will fail, ****ting my pants after 10 minutes.
Like years ago playing F.E.A.R.😁
Damn that looks great. Might try it myself if I ever get an OLED monitor...

wtf are we seeing the same images? Shadows are not black voids that absorb all light, that's not how things work. Your monitor needs serious adjustment bc those shadows are way the **** off. Like a poorly programmed .io game where they just made the shadows solid black.

Its a mobile photo you silly, you can't take a good photo of monitor with mobile camera :p
You should see it in person, makes huge difference.

S10 is a pretty good camera, so alot of the fault is on Phinix n00bing it up.
Not playing anything right now, the games I've played most recently are League of Legends (support / mid), Agar.io, and that's pretty much it. I've also tested Camelot Unchained and Crowfall for some minutes before my laptop shut down / refuses to load the map.
Look how spook this is. u jus dun' know if dat monster is a few feet ahead.
If you chk the pixel value, it's RGB 0, 0, 0
Tp4 games @ 115nits, which corresponds to 0.017 nit blacks on VA-lcd
On CRT or OLED that black is even m0ar scary

So far, I've beaten Ultimate Doom, Sigil, Romero's E1M4b and E1M8b (holy crap this was hard), Doom II, Master Levels for Doom II, and most of TNT Evilution. Next, I'll play The Plutonia Experiment and then maybe some community mega wads if I'm not entirely sick of the games by then. So far the only one I really haven't enjoyed is the Master Levels. Doom II's base levels were a little annoying at times and not visually appealing as well, but not terrible.
Daikitana ?
I know this is either bait or a meme, but it's just bringing back memories of the one time I tried emulating Daikatana out of morbid curiosity...

Daikitana ?
It's not the worst thing ever, but dated of course by modern standards.
I kept reading that Daikatana has been greatly improved over the years, so I bought it a while back and played the first couple hours, and I did not enjoy it. All I remember is constantly stepping in poison or getting shot by poison and having to shoot very small flying enemies. Maybe I'll give it another shot someday.
Fifteen years ago or so, I bought the N64 version for my friend, which is considered even worse, and he actually rather enjoyed it. I, on the other hand, got stuck in the first or second level because I couldn't figure out where to go (I think it was something as simple as needing to crouch, but it wasn't obvious because the button combo for crouching was not intuitive IIRC).
Been getting back in to Vermintide 2 with the new Kerillian class (because Kerillian is my favorite character in that game), and because the Chaos Wastes are immensely fun. They added what is essentially infinite replay value to a game that used to be much more limited in that aspect, even with the content-focused DLC released for it. Makes it an even better way to scratch that itch for a game that feels kinda like Left 4 Dead, but with a twist, until Warhammer 40K Darktide comes out. Which looks like it's going to be just as fun as Vermintide when it releases!
You might like the upcoming Back 4 Blood
I love seeing Guilty Gear Strive doing so well, it warms my heart to see a fighting game getting such great numbers. Top selling game on Steam for the week is a fighting game! So rad. Also the game looks freakin beautiful.
It is well known that in video games, most of the actions that virtual characters take are acts of violence. Whether we're talking about firing a gun, wielding a sharp weapon, or jumping on Mario's enemies, we have to admit that "eliminating" opponents is not a very peaceful practice. To play a regular game, you need to find more information (https://lavicheats.com/league-of-legends-hacks-script-comboes/) to not have the trauma of that violence or what can happen during the game XD. But already, everyone does what he wants with his life and what he wants to play.
What video game is pippagray currently playing (that is the point of the thread ...)?(the link leads to a lol hack site, so none, it is a bot, look at the address)

and personally i play everspace (FTL but in 1st person i think is a good way to describe it) and a bit of payday 2 and factorio when in the mood for multiplayer/playing with friends
So, apparently to fuel my addiction to grind-heavy, huge time investment games, a friend of mine introduced me to Spacelords. I now have yet another addiction.Only way to top it is as Vampire Ninja Pirates. .
Also, my sister convinced me to grab Total War: Warhammer II during the Summer Sale (to play with her and a mutual friend of ours), and I figured I should also grab the DLC for the vampire pirate faction because they're vampire pirates! Can't get much better than that imo for cool fantasy factions. Have yet to play the game, but since I'm not a fan of RTS I'll probably have battles on auto while mainly focusing on the turn-based main game, which is more my speed for strategy games (though I'm still not a fan of grand strategy games. I'd rather play WH40K tabletop lol).
Been playing the diagnostic game w/ getting New World to run properly on my rig - ran fine in the Alpha but now get random crashes (full system power cut) in certain areas in the beginning. Don't want to chance frying my GPU which fortunately has maxed out at 55-60c (benefits of a full cover waterblock on my GPU). So far this is the only title to cause this out of my large backlog of games.
Just got my PS5 for a month but only been playing PS4 titles except for FIFA21 :p
Been playing Inscryption lately. A good mind-**** game, decent mechanics but not without it's flaws (sometimes mechanics take a backseat to story.) Definitely a unique and engaging atmospheric experience with a lot more going on than the game initially lets on. If you plan on playing this one DO NOT LOOK UP ANY PLAY THROUGHS OR WIKIS, this is a very spoiler-heavy game so going in blind is the best way. Then when you play it again you're almost guaranteed to get a different experience due to the way the game is structured, and I don't mean the 2nd time you will know everything, things will change.
Would recommend

Finished Inscryption last night. What an absolute mind ****. What a unique story and presentation. I have honestly never played anything like it, and it was beautiful.
Even though it is an amalgamation of ideas coming together to form one cohesive presentation, everything worked well together and the consistent refreshing of play mechanics and space kept me very engaged.
I have not played a game that I kept thinking about when bnot playing, and kept thinking about after finishing, for a very long time. And Inscryption gives you a lot to think about.
I'll steal the top review on Steam for this game, because it really sums up the feeling:
"The only bad thing about Inscryption is that you can only ever play it for the first time once."
I would very highly recommend this game. Do not watch a play through or stream. Go in blind and experience Inscryption for yourself. It took me about 20 hrs to play through the first time.

Currently going back to play through Dead Space 1 & 2.
The Cuphead DLC is incredible. Hand-drawn animation, and a ton of love went into the boss designs and mechanics.
So good, and only $8! This is how DLC should be(I don't mind it took 2 years to make)

I would like to play them again. Wondering which one I should play, 1 or 2?
anyone playing OSRS? There should be a Geekhack clan! Anyways if anybody plays, hit me up, my username is SlurmSoda420I lack the time and energy these days for MMOs. Back in the day I played Ultima Online but once my friends stopped playing...what was the point anymore.

2 for sure. Huge amount of side story stuff in that game, endless dialogue, decent writing and ideas in FO2 as well that still hold up and are still being used by modern devs narrative-wise. If you liked Planescape Torment or Disco Elysium, you'll dig Fallout 2.
Be sure to install the Restoration Project mod, it makes everything much better and modernized. Fixes a ton of stuff, adds in a lot of cut/unfinished content.
Playing RDR2 story mode...
Not sure if it's epic or just okay with pretty visuals and a decent story.
One thing I will say is I am tired of the game dictating what weapons to use at times and when you can run just to build drama. Or worse, get off the horse and find the game left your weapons on the horse when you got off while chasing an animal. I had them when I stepped off, reach for a shotgun and only finding a pistol to fend off 7 wolves. Gee, thanks.
It's Maddening.
It does get better.
Took a bit and the intro was far too long (sort of like GTA), then it kind of slow burns.
I've read you're supposed to just sit back and enjoy the slower pace, unfortunately the pacing is horrible. You no sooner get into a slow casual pace only for it to do something stupid. It's stupid slow when it needs to be faster and fast when it doesn't need to be. And then a cougar jumps out of a bush and you die. There's almost nothing to this game except the primary mission, nothing on the side enhances the main story and nothing on the side tells much of anything. For such an open world, it's extremely desolate, predictable and linear.
I look forward to the end but I can't ever see playing it again.
The Witcher looks good but supernatural stuff just turns me off immediately.
Just finished RE7. Amazing. Felt like playing a grimy, dirty, splatter horror movie. The cage fight definitely reminded me of Texas Chainsaw 2. Playing RE:Village now and I gotta say I love the selection of out of there guns they choose. Between the M37 Ithaca and the 1897 in this game (Not to mention the automag in 7) RE has the strangest way of picking out my favorite guns.
Ethan in Village seems a lot more relatable than he was in 7. In 7 he was kinda a massive prick only interested in his wife. NGL tho this definitely feels a bit like a different genre. Less splatter and more of a "Susperia meets Hostel" situation. Also, the baby is adorable. My 5'5.5" ass would go toe to toe with a 10 foot milf vampire to make sure she's safe. (I'd totally get stomped, but then again I don't have a fungus keeping me alive after I got my head stomped in.

Spiderman, Spiderman, Radioactive Spiderman! Seriously the game slaps & looks gorgeous on PC with the graphics all pumped up. They have a few kinks to still work out, namely a nasty memory leak that'll eat your VRAM in a few hours necessitating a restart. Overall a pretty fun game & I'm confident Nixxes will work all the kinks out sooner than later. Well worth a buy if you haven't played it on PS4/5 yet!Bro. That theme song. It brings me back to my childhood :D
I just turned my gaming PC on (Last Night) after 3-4 years.
Been playing:

Destiny 2 (Never played before)
Predator: Hunting Grounds

Been playing GTA 4 on PC. I've tried many times to play it, but it's finally clicking. I've been trying to play all of the most popular games from the last 20 or so years that I haven't played yet. Any recommendations are welcome!

Just finished Kathy Rain. If you are into point and click adventure games, try it, really nice game. Great story, characters, hand drew locations, great music and dialogs.I got that free on steam ages ago. Never had any luck with free detective games on steam. Last one I played was Backbone, which had raccoons, noire detective stuff, and a halfway decent hook. Basically everything I love in a game... I ****ing hated it. Even the demo was just complete raccoon ****, and from what I heard the full game was even worse.

Point being, I hope you're right lol
Mario Sunshine is the worst Mario game ever made, and I hate almost everything about it.
I can't even play it because of the absolute garbage camera, but there is so much more to hate about this game.
Blackthorne.

It's an Éric Chahi game from the 90s that really pushed the Genesis to its max. But it plays similar to Blackthorne.

Why, if I may ask, do you find Blackthorne to be brilliant?
I toyed around with it a bit, but I just found it to be somewhat generic, albeit with its own gimmicks. Maybe I just never gave it a chance.
Out of This World, BTW was a sensation when it came out. The pseudo-3D-animated cutscenes and vector-like rotoscoped graphics were almost unheard of on the 16-bit systems of the era, including much of the hardware in DOS PCs. It has been remastered quite well for modern computers, the 15th anniversary edition IIRC.
Someone even remade the introduction for the Commodore 64 in 2019, which is amazing. The gameplay of OOTW isn't that revolutionary, though. It does have some similarities to Blackthorne.
I have Heart of the Alien, the sequel to Out of this World (I'm American, okay!) for Sega CD. The disc also had the original OOTW. My CD player died before I was able to play the sequel. :(Blackthorne.

Oh for f** sake... you Americans... ;)
It's ANOTHER WORLD!
Of course I know this game, jeez, its one of the most important and greatest games ever made. Why titles always have to be changed for America I will never understand....
Regarding Blackthorne - when it came out, people loved it for being another platform game released on PC. Everyone loved Prince of Persia and Blackthorne was very similar, simplistic platform game with similar mechanics. I remember how huge it was in PC environment, everyone was playing it, we were sharing codes to show where we we went etc
I remember playing it with different sound - on PC speaker, using Covox, then on Adlib card, it was fun :)

I agree that the classic graphics mode looks better than the enhanced, even though there was more detail and texture in the enhanced mode. I'm so used to seeing the game in the classic style, I found myself turning on the enhanced mode just for a few seconds to see what the scenes looked like, before turning it back off. I think the absence of detail creates a richer experience. It's the way our minds fill in those blank areas, subconsciously. It's why I ofttimes prefer late mid'90s–early 2000s 3D FPS games over modern ones.Oh for f** sake... you Americans... ;)

Funny. I was actually thinking of also listing it as Another World, particularly when I was going to link to it on GOG.com
I received a demo disk of it a few years after it came out for PC. That was the American version, but the later GOG.com special edition retains the universal "Another World" title, I think.
The 15th Anniversary remaster is actually pretty neat. Chahi was able to simple scale the graphics 2x or so from 640x480, to 1280x960 I think. So it's the same models. But there's the option to use 'enhanced' graphics with those models, which are more colourful and detailed.
I prefer the classic mode, as those graphics were impressive in its time, and it's historically-important. But the enhanced graphics are very tasteful, as they are thematically-appropriate and developer-approved.
Blackthorne is similar to Another World in that there is a strong 'shoot/avoid' mechanic throughout the game, and the tossing of grenades. [Although only opponents do that in Another World]. They both are this weird mix of modern and medieval also, I think.
I didn't like how Blackthorne used such large sprites, given the limited screen-size and resolution of a 90s-era DOS PC. But it did look different and richer, kind of like the Lost Vikings from the same developer. I just thought that games with smaller sprites were more appropriate. Today, it would be awesome if some retro developer made a 1080p game with Blackthorne-like graphics and 120 fps. It was just too confined and clunky for me, even years ago.

Brown and red are all you'll see in that game, but it was so damn fun.HROT
The Brown Game
brownest color pallet of any game I ever seen't
I had to research that game because you guys had me intrigued by its brownness. The look of it reminds me of Return to Castle Worfenstein or Medal of Honor, but with more pixels and sharp edges. Is it story-based or is it more run-n-gun and debrief later?Brown and red are all you'll see in that game, but it was so damn fun.HROT

so i've recently been playing a bit of dome keeper and some TF2 with friendsDome keeper was really fun, but once I beat it once I pretty much lost interest, which is odd for a roguelite.
Out of all the games I got during this Steam Sale, The Caribbean Sail has been the one I had the most fun with so far.
It's an Oregon Trail-like survival boat captain sim that takes place in the 1700's with some fantasy elements.
Took me a while to get a hang of the navel battles, but now I'm an undefeated Red Flag Pirate hated and feared by every faction in the game and win every one. Success!
8/10 - would betray The Crown again.

Excited to play Moon, got the physical translated version coming on the Switch this week. I've been interested in playing this game since I was a kid, as it seems like a unique off-beat RPG akin to things like Earthbound. The developer has a huge catalogue of very weird games to their name.
Not huge into RPGs as I get older, so hoping it will hold my attention.

There isn't really an overarching story for the game. Different characters have their own little stories, and the story of the player is whatever you make it.I finally started playing Stardew Valley a few days ago, so far it's been a lot of fun.

Wonder how long new players will keep up with Baldur's gate 3, 14 yr old Tp4 might have had the kind of patience for it, but not today, and it'd be really interesting to see whether young people has longevity with this type of game.
Tp4 watched the youtube for 3 minutes and was already bored.
Just started Fallout 76.
Not too sure about playing with the public, I prefer single player stuff.
Thief Gold.
Trying to finish what I started a long time ago.

Aah, back to basics - fantastic game, I played it a lot back in a days. Is it playable now on modern PCs?
I may try it.
Also, look up something called "The Dark Mod:"
It's a recreation of Thief 1 in a more modern engine. [Not to be confused with the semi-official "New Dark" engine for canonical Thief 1.]

Same here, I dont like multiplayer, always played singles my whole life (apart from Duke Nukem 3D in high school with friends on lunch breaks).
I always wanted to play and finish first and second Fallout, never finished it back then.

Vegas is a bit long in the tooth but has a great story, 4 is more modern but not as well written.
As for 76,
It is open world multi player but unlike GTA you are penalized for trying to kill other players and little incentive to do so. I've got several hours in now and only one person took a single pot shot at me to try and get me to play but due to how the game mechanics work it did nothing. In default mode, players can shoot each other but the damage is super low unless you shoot back, shooting back triggers pvp and you can kill each other without penalty. If you do not shoot back they will need to dump a ton of ammo to kill you and if they do they're dubbed a murderer and a bounty is placed on them and everyone goes on a hunt for them. It's quite a breath of fresh air from that perspective, I'm just not sure it's a good game yet.
Your gun is severely nerfed when shooting someone who refuses to go PVP with you, I'm not sure there's enough money or ammo to make serial killing possible unless you grind away for a few thousand hours first.Try Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4.Just started Fallout 76.

Any game done by a small indie team that has AAA studios complaining about how it sets a bad precedent for the gaming industry because of how much content and production value their game has, I am happy to support at full-price.
Oh my god, Starfield is possibly the most boring AAA game I have ever played. I played 3 hours of what was basically a visual novel. People just talking at me endlessly for 3hrs straight.
Refunded.
and people are saying it 'gets good' 100hrs in, **** THAT!
Most boring game of 2023

People keep downvoting the hell out of me in r/games because i say that it's not as good as you remember playing it and i keep getting proven right. I will never play any skyrim or bethesda open world game . The only one that i like is Spider man and that's mainly because of the web slinging and the spider man fantasy

That was me with fallout 4, played for a bit and found it so uninteresting, maybe it gets better later on but not invested enough to play again. Never understood why people loved it so much. I will probably check out new vegas eventually and maybe skyrim but 4 really put me off playing Bethesda open world games.

I've played Fallout 3, NV, 4 and 76, after multiple play throughs I've noticed it's hit or miss, not per game, but even play through.
You can have a great experience one time through and next time just get super bogged down and get nowhere and just become disinterested all because of how you start. On 3, which I hated, I had no idea what I was doing and stumbled into some of the most difficult areas on the map and kept dying (I've never played it again), on a second run through New Vegas, thinking I had it figured out I spent a long time grinding levels right from the start, got bored and made a beeline to Vegas only to die and get bored again. You can over think them, you can take a wrong turn or just get so tied up in all the side quests you forget to make progress on the main story, 76 is especially bad for this.
It's great these games are so open and not run on rails but at the same time it leaves a lot of room for you to fall off the rails or stuck deciding what to do.
It is, my point is that it's also open for you completely screw up the story and have it fall flat.People keep downvoting the hell out of me in r/games because i say that it's not as good as you remember playing it and i keep getting proven right. have u ever tried Hunt: Showdown?
Super Mario Wonder, despite all odds and everything I've disliked in the past, is actually a really great game. It is the level design and constant tweaks on mechanics it uses to actually build up the player's skill in each subsequent level that kept me playing. Very fun and creative level design.
The graphics are still uninspired dog****, like every other New Mario game where everything just looks like an asset the level designers grabbed out a file folder, and the price is absurd. But other than those factors, SMW is a lovingly crafted and creative game with fun and engaging mechanics and level design that will keep you wanting to see what the next level will throw at you.
I do hate those stupid positivity flowers that serve zero purpose other than to almost snidely cheer you on. That's some baby ****.
I broke down a got Skyrim: Special Edition. The enhanced textures are rather impressive and it has a built-in mods menu that's makes it super easy to **** up your experience :thumb:
I bought the DVD on opening day in 2011 but never got farther than 20ish hours into it. It ain't no Daggerfall but it's part of the Elder Scrolls lore, so I have to play it.

seriously though don't use their dumb built-in mods, spend some time learning Mod Organizer 2 and it'll be worth your while. for your first play through i recommend just using the unofficial patch or one of those Essentials style modlists

I cannot go through this one, too boring, running around with boxes and keep falling into black oily puddles with whales...what kind of fallout came up with this idea... oh yeah, Japanese guy, why I'm not surprised... ;)
I personally don't see any pleasure playing games like Spider-man, or even watching those movies, like that or Avengers. I cannot explain why but those movies are totally stupid for me.
I like Batman movies, but not a huge fan.
I think I'm just getting old :(

Bought the Night-Runners Demo/Prologue for $10. The game is awesome and I can already tell it's gonna change the racing game market when the full version is out. It's already better than Forza and it only has 1 playable car. What other game lets you directly change your car's CONTROL ARMS and FLOOR MATS? The graphics has visible influence from the games it references (Midnight Club, Juiced, etc) but updated to 2024 standards and it just looks amazing. The soundtrack is currently limited at what seems like 4 songs but they are all bangers and hit hard when you're doing 240 km/h in your Sannis Livisa 180RS (game's version of the Nissan Silvia 180SX).
Another cool thing is the gauges show on your screen in third person actually matching the gauges in your car, so the color and design and everything. Whatever aftermarket gauges you bolt onto your dashboard also show up in the same part with the faces matching.
Def gonna be no-life'ing this game for a while.

Is this more arcade than simulation? Looking at what I can find on youtube looks up my alley. I want a Sim-ish style racer (think Forza 4), open world, and car customization. I have literally no interest in driving these exotics that have taken over games like FH5.
I see it more and more where the car scene is shifting from building up what you love and everyone just lusts after stock super/hyper cars. These are engineer feats like no other and 99% of them sit in a garage and move less than a mile a year under their own power.
I want the car scene and games to focus back on grassroots. Even if you take street racing out to appease car manufactures, a story line like NFS Prostreet where the cars were cars you'd see down the street not trailered to a fancy car show. Let me start with a used stock 86, WRX, Civic, etc and put on coils/wheels/air intake, etc. Driving realistic speeds that the car would achieve, etc.
I dunno if its considered arcade or sim, probably more arcade im guessing? it is open world in a skyrim kind of way where there are some sections cut off with loading screens but you can still roam around. map isn't even near its full size yet since its a demo.
customization is better than any other car game I've played by far. realistic speeds are definitely there as going 180 kmh feels like you're going pretty fast and there's not really anyone going over 160 mph for the beginning of the game but it still feels like ur zooming (because even driving 160 mph irl feels much more terrifying than video games portray lol)
the one exotic that I know WILL be in the game at full release is the Porsche 911 (or korshek or whatever the game's version is)
in the full version cars will be more exclusive (gas, price, maintenance etc) so you will definitely be able to build a relationship with whatever ****box you end up with rebuilding the engine and modifying it to whatever you like. like I said there is only one car right now (well there are 2, the 180SX and the 200SX but they are nearly the same) but the AI drivers have different cars like a Chaser, GT-R etc so its not like you'll get bored of the AI cars too quickly
I personally started with a car that had an oil leak and like 280k km on it, now I'm up to over 500 horsepower and a fully customized interior with custom gauges, wheel, seats, roll cage, big ass turbocharger and underglow + full custom aero kit
oh yeah you crash at full speed and there's not even a scratch, since they're going for realistic maintenance and stuff in the future i assume this is a temporary thing

Please give me an S15 Silvia and a GC Impreza coupe and you got a deal.

You could buy a cheap fun (real) car for less.

Agreed. You have to create your own fun. Living in the Midwest means I don't get windy roads nor canyons to play in so a lower HP, but great handling car doesn't have many places to shine. The only way to play with a cars performance is in the occasional roundabout or merging onto the off ramp/backroad.
The Miata is a track weapon, but not something that can be a every season driver in the great white north, doubly so as a parent. (NC Miata is best Miata IMO)They make hard tops and they now have hard top convertible models.
Half the year we are covered in a mix of salt, sand, and ice so any vehicle driven during those 6 months are being sacrificed to the rust gods.Just part of why I left the midwest.
I was at one point looking at Z3s because there are like 3-4 2 seat coupes that are attainable for most people (Miata, Z3, MR2, and maybe a Boxter. I could be missing some). The only other car that catches my eye is a post facelift SN95 Mustang because that is one of the best looking cars ever. When I was looking for something fun with 4 doors (kids) and AWD (cuz snow), I was looking at Bajas, but that's another car that has a cult tax and decent examples start over 10k for a auto/turbo and if you can find a manual turbo you can expect closer to 15k unless it has mega milesHonestly, I HATED my Subie.
We are sadly in a much different era of project car than we were 5-10 years ago. I remember in 2015-2016 looking at stateside, imported R32 GTRs for 16-20k. Now you can't even look at an R32 GTR for under 30 and most are closer to 35. Hell, I looked into getting a GTST and doing an LS swap and those went from 10k to closer to 20k.When Covid drove up new car prices it also drove up used, which also drove up classic prices.

you google "fun cars under $5000" and there's articles from 2014 talking about miatas, s13s, civics etc... you cant even get a car that drives for under $6000 these days most of the timeSure you can.
Started up Bugsnax (https://store.steampowered.com/app/674140/Bugsnax/). So far it's fantastic. A blend of childlike imagination and creative puzzle solving to capture these Bugsnax. It gives the same vibes as Viva Pinata and I am glad to have found a creature collection game that isn't about enslaving them to fight...thought they are eaten by the residents.
Gonna do a Fallout 4 playthrough with Life in the Ruins modlist, never actually finished the game.Golden rule of the wasteland...
I'd also recommend getting Nuka World and Far Harbor expansions. Many prefer Far Harbor but I really like Nuke a World.

"Thou shalt get sidetracked by bullsh*t every goddamn time."
Took me a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time to finish Fallout 4 for that reason, the main story is so meh that after a while I forgot there was an actual main quest to complete until I got bored and came back to it. It's actually a rug-pull and you have to get over that hump but the end is actually pretty good and there's multiple way s to finish it, it's just that they failed to make you really bond with the family and make you chase it. An alternate point of view though is that the real point of Fallout 4 is the side quests, not the main story, which kind of makes sense in a way.

Everybody NEEDS TO PLAY HADES 2 PLEASE
Hades 2, $29.99 pretty spensive.. wroth?

I'd pay $40 for the actual full game because the first one was great and I know the quality and time I get will be worth, but an early access that's over a year away from completion $30 is a bit steep.
assetto corsa no hesi has become soo addicting so run, been on it for a while and also been looking for a good steering wheel to use. does anyone have any good options? another good racing game ive recently been enjoying is night runners, its pretty much assetto but retro vibes.i have a fanatec csl elite. cant comment on value for dollar since my uncle gave it to me for free but its really good, super smooth cuz direct drive as opposed to the cheaper logitech wheel (that my uncle also gave me lmao) but the logitech wheel is good if u dont wanna spend a lot. anyways i usually get advice from sim racing discord servers there are some really friendly and helpful ones out there
bought The Last of Us Part 1 because i couldnt resist and i like to make myself sad
