Need an option in the form for just 1 case! :P
But at that price point, I'm highly interested.
Any chance for a split spacebar option in the PCB/plate?
For the case, will there be an option for different colors on each layer?
And I'd like to see hex screws instead of philips head.

Different colors may be available, but that would understandably increase the cost of the case. And yes, I'm aiming for allen head screws as well since they're very nice on my wkl case.
Split spacebar is highly unlikely since I'm dealing with a preexisting design and the manu will most likely be unwilling to adjust their design.
So the response on the form looks pretty good, so I'll be getting ahold of my case maker later this week and seeing if we can't get this moving some time next week or early Feb.
That's great news! Purple or red pcb would be pretty cool
Is it possible to cut the case layers out of different colors? Like maybe a sandwich of matte black, opaque acrylic, matte black?
I've bought stuff from this manu before, it's good stuff.
Can we get those SMD LEDs for caps and num to be a neutral color like white?
This is probably going to be my first and only 96 key board, so lets make this happen captain.

Prototype plates are here! Now to just wait for the PCBs, which seem to be delayed :\
Purple was going really strong, but it looks like matte black is currently in the lead by quite a bit

I'll probably leave the form open until after I'm back from the San Antonio meetup and see where it's at then if I finally have the sample PCBs on hand to check over.

Oh =[ but black is so boring!
It does go nicely with everything. Though, I do wish people were open to more "out there" colors.
If some of the last few buys I've seen are representative of anything people perfer getting colorful cases whenever a "big" keyset drops (Laser) and generally they get one that matches one of the main colors for that set. Otherwise they go for more muted options as they have a higher chance of matching something that comes out in the future.Purple was going really strong, but it looks like matte black is currently in the lead by quite a bit

I voted for purple because I never see those and I think they look the best, black was the backup color. Black and gold pads looks too good to me not to like but purple beats it hands down.

This is for the color of the PCB itself, not the case. For the case I'll probably go with black or white as a neutral color, but I may open the choice for a additional color.

All clear, or frosted would be my choice if that's an option.

We're most likely doing FR4 plates, so we'll have to use what coppermask colors we have available. Note that these colors will be more restrictive than the colors for the PCB since it's through a different manu.
Shucks. Was really hoping to get a case like the one that you posted in OPMoreShow Image(https://i.imgur.com/wqpz2fi.jpg)
Good news lads, there's a lovely stack of PCBs on my desk right now
(https://i.imgur.com/mpwBIKx.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/mpwBIKx.jpg)
Haven't had a chance for advanced testing, but they seem to function correctly from simple testing, and there's even more good news with some adjustments to the design:
- Numpad Enter and + switches have been oriented 90° to the others. They used the be the same as the others, causing the LED pads for those switches to be absurdly tiny and meaning that the switches there would not be able to click into the plates using our current plate and PCB mount stab compatibility. The rotation fixes both of these problems.
- Indicator LEDs are white instead of green. This didn't me since I don't use the indicators, but someone had mentioned a ways upward that they would prefer something more neutral colored than green. Wish granted.
I'll be able to give these a proper rundown this weekend while I'm showing them off at the San Antonio meetup.

does it fit LSv2? :o
does it fit LSv2? :o
I myself don't know. The PCB should have the mounting points to fit the majority of cases available, but I'm not familiar with what's needed for everything.

Is this group buy still going on and what is the possible end date for the group buy?
Thanks,
Crushed
Found out I can't make a poll on my own post, which totally makes sense, thx GH. Have a strawpoll as an alternative
https://www.strawpoll.me/15374972
The winner from this tiebreaker will determine the PCB color for this run. Potential future runs could have different colors.
Well so far I am alone on wanting purple... :(

Not a GB yet, just an IC.
Moving on, it looks like matte black pretty solidly won the current poll

But I think I'll give you guys a shot at a tiebreaker since there wasn't much difference between the two numberwise. Once I figure out how I'll setup a poll here on the GH page and leave it for a few days to get a conclusive result.
In the meantime, I'll be working on ironing out the last few issues with the cases, mostly the screwhole situation, the stabholes being too snug, and looking into hipro case bits since someone suggested a pretty simple way to implement it. Also, I'll get some MOQ price points for some more options for colored plates for the case since people were interested.

Purple here as well. It's such a nice color. Too bad most people prefer more muted colors.
Poor purple is trying so hard
I might propose a possible solution to this battle, the option for both purple and black PCBs. I haven't asked the manu about it, but I don't see any reason they wouldn't do two colors as long as the 50 moq for custom color is met for both of them. What would probably have to happen is I give the option for either color, but if one of them doesn't make it your order defaults to the one that does hit or has the higher numbers at that time. Considering the price point of the PCBs is quite nice, I don't see this being a problem, but I do have to worry about people dropping if their PCB choice doesn't make it. Lemme know what you guys think on the matter.
Agreed with BlindAssassin111. I just want a more fun PCB color for pictures taken while building it. It's not like I can see it once it's inside the case, as far as I can tell from the pictures you've posted.

Purple is up 36-32 at the moment!!!
Interested in the hipro addon so long as it's optional during assembly. I can see myself using it with some keysets but not others.
it supports 1.25-1.5-1-6.25-1.25-1-1.5-1.25 bottom row

Yeah, the hipro section would be an optional addon that may put the kit cost over $100 and would include the hardware for both lowpro and hipro configs.
In other news, I was checking over layout compatibility for the budget96 PCB and I thought you guys should know that it supports 1.25-1.5-1-6.25-1.25-1-1.5-1.25 bottom row

Do what you will with that knowledge. I'll have a full layout picture here shortly since I realized I never did one.

I know this is sorta random but.. I would love to one day see some random PCB colors. Color's like Neon Yellow, Tangerine, Burnt Orange, Teal, Neon Purple or Green, maybe a muted blue color. Just some really crazy colors I don't know if such a thing would cost more or less but would just be fun instead of the same old.. Red, Black, white, green options.

It's really close, and I'd be a fool to ignore what half of the votes want, so I'll go ahead and commit to having both as an option. I'll see about getting a quote from the manu here soon while we're polishing up the case design and the hipro addon.
Alright, so JOlimon is touching base with his supplier to get detailed quotes for the frosted acrylic pieces for the middle and hipro layers. Additionally, I have the pricing for the plates of the case. As mentioned, we're gonna allow ordering the plates in each color, so they'll each have their own MOQs, which are as follows:
10 sets(bottom+top) - $25 each
25 sets - $20
50 sets - $17
75 sets - $14
100 sets - $13.5
I'll be putting an option on the order form that will give you a backup in the case that your first color doesn't hit MOQ, most likely one of the two "main" color plates, black or white.
Something else cool, I'm looking into having GMK stabs available as part of the GB, for everyone that doesn't just have a bucket of stabs sitting around :3

okay i'm totally new to this but i really want/need a 96key and this seems like a perfect opportunity to get one and learn about building it in the process. my friend has access to soldering equipment but my main question is what else do i need after getting the kit from this gb? and about how much money will i be spending in total? You're going to need switches, caps, and some stabilizers at the very least. The final cost of the build is going to vary greatly depending on how much you feel like spending.

For example, you could buy Gateron switches for $0.20 ea (https://kbdfans.cn/collections/swtich/products/gateron-swtich-3pin-or-5pin?variant=35765199245)
Or Zealios switches for $0.85 ea (https://kbdfans.cn/collections/swtich/products/zealio-swtich-tactile)
And you can get a keyset pretty cheap (https://kbdfans.cn/collections/keycaps/products/npkc-pbt-keycaps-104keys-side-print) or very pricy (https://www.originativeco.com/products/sa-hyperfuse). It's all up to how you want to build it.
Looking to start soon, waiting on a couple of things to finalize the case design and cost.

...gold immersion finish...
Just another small update while we're still working on this, we're still waiting to hear back on frosted acrylic pricing to finalize case pricing. Additionally, after finding out that QMK support is possible on ps2avrgb boards, I'll be working along with the wonderful mr mechmerlin in order to try and get QMK working on here. I figure that there's really no harm in getting it QMK functional and can only help to get more people interested in the board.
I think it depends on how much more the single middle piece would be compared to the three stacked pieces. If it's not that much more, I would 100% be willing to pay that extra for the single piece of acrylic.

Yeah, can we get the actual estimated price? If it’s really only a $5 difference - I would totally rather have the single piece.
Honestly, I'd pay the extra ~$4 for the 9mm piece. It's such a small difference.
A similar 4 dollar or so increase for the hi pro ones as well?
A similar 4 dollar or so increase for the hi pro ones as well?
If hipro tops could be done with the 3mm slices, which I'm not certain they could, the price difference would be less, closer to $2-$3, due to not being able to nest them like the middle slices can be. Right now the pricing for the hipro tops is around $47 for 9mm, unfortunately higher than I was expecting due to higher material usage from being unable to nest and the costs of the frost material.
So at 15MOQ for the middles, which uses the 10MOQ price point for the plates, we're looking at:
PCB - $30
Plates - $25/set
Middle - $37
Hipro - $47
GMK Screw-in stabs - $10/set
So you're looking at $92 base, $139 with hipro, $149 with hipro and stabs, all at the lowest MOQ. And all things considered, this is pretty much ready to move forward. We've got all our pricing and some last details can be worked out during the buy period.

how well would the underglow LEDs light up the hipro layer? or not at all?
how well would the underglow LEDs light up the hipro layer? or not at all?
Probably not any substantial amount, which is one downside of the FR4 plate. Backlighting should light it up well though.
