Title: Damaged PCB contact
Post by: LevelSteam on Mon, 04 June 2018, 18:58:32
While replacing the switches on my GH60 board I accidentally pulled off one of the contacts from the top (plate/switch) side of the PCB. I thought I had all of the solder sucked up but I guess not. The contact on the back of the PCB is still fully intact and upon resoldering everything works (for now), but will this become a problem long term?

My unprofessional opinion: As long as it works now and it's mechanically stable than it should be fine.

And the only reason it will fail in the future is due to heavy vibration causing the partial pad to fatigue and break away. This probably won't happen though, it would take a lot to make the pad fail further.

OP - you're good, enjoy the board.  If it fails later worry about it then, but it won't be fatal :)

MrTq - Post a picture of the area around the damage with the traces visible in the shine and someone should be able to help with where to solder to fix it, probably won't be me as I'm going out!
