Pinedrops IPA - pretty damn good.

Black Butte Porter - as the name implies, it tastes like butt.

I guess I picked up a whale tonight.  Good thing it's not hyped in my head (outside of knowing there's a cult following of Ahabs).  I'll see how it stands up in my mind.

Show Image

Figured I might as well pick up one of everything else while I was there and it was there.

Show Image

And whenever I go to the store, my goal is always to try something new and try something local.  I've found that there are almost always some local beers that compete with whales.  Modern Times is hit or miss with me, never had Wein's, and 90 Minute was one of the beers that got me into beer, so I had to try this.

Ok, thought the Dogfish Head 75 Minute would be a little weird, but it's surprisingly good.

Not anything.  They have a lot of great beers, but they also have their fair share of absolute doozies.

So, verdict on the Founder's KBS.  Good, but not earth shattering.  I went and looked it up after I had it and somehow it had perfect scores on a bunch of sites while other equally good beers sit at the B+ range.  I'd say it's a very good beer, but it's overhyped and I would not pay $6 or $7 again for the tiny little bottle of it.

Same with Canadian Breakfast Stout, i'd go as far as call that an average beer despite the hype. Though I probably would pay $6 or 7 for KBS maybe once a year.

I've just had so many other good stouts for around the same price that I don't think I could justify it again.  Barbapapa was like $8 or $9 for a 22, same with some good Modern Times stouts I had recently.  I know it's more expensive because it's bourbon barrel aged, but that added very little to the actual flavor aside from some alcohol heat and booziness.

I actually preferred their regular breakfast stout to KBS.  Overall, their beers were solid, just KBS is definitely a hype beer.

Bilco's in Napa today. I was overwhelmed with choice.

Started with a denoginizer from drakes, and finished with an APA from henhouse. Good French dip sandwich too. Reminded me of portillos in Chicago.

It's okay Hoff, you can find most of that board almost anywhere.  I see Racer 5, Chimay, La Fin du Monde, different ciders, Stella, and a bunch of common stuff.

And I keep forgetting to send you your beer package.  Partly because I'm scared to send USPS and I know UPS will be bad an expensive.

I've had a few brews today. Just been sipping on them, reviewing them, and working on an assessment. I've never had either of the IPAs, and had the King Louie last year, but picked up another bottle this year so I could review it. Today's been good. I still have three more in the fridge too :thumb:

King Louie Winter Stout

Citradelic

Pinedrops IPA

I think the most shocking part about this whole thing is two of my three beers today were IPAs. And I picked them out under my own, will-full power and enjoyed them. My 2016 beer resolution is to try more styles. I think I'm on my way! Cheers.

I've lived in the UK for over three years now and I've gotten used to drinking tea and putting milk in it and talking about nothing but the weather all day and saying "sorry" for everything under the sun and all that jazz, but I still can't stomach ales xD .

If you want real, amazing beer, there's no substitute for Belgian. Or, for lager, I think we do a pretty good job.

That said, I'm so poor now that I'm condemned to drink Sainsbury's Basics lager now :p .

The loot I plungered from Seattle. These bad boys are going home with me.

This Trickster IPA has cult following here in Seattle. Just recently did they start bottling it. Could only get it on tap before.

So I have been on a quest to find my all time favorite beer.

I have gone to a **** ton of brewery's

126480-0

And I have drank quite a few beers. (This is about a quarter, if not less, of the beers I have tried. All unique. Doesn't count the ones I tried on draft.)

126482-1

But this is probably my favorite beer to date.

126484-2

It just sits so well on my pallet. Very tropical and enough hops to meet my needs. I can sip on this beer all day. It's pours a nice golden color. Smells like a ****ing Hawaiian dream with a little of pine. Just over all, a damn good beer.

I have not tried their Dank IPA but it's next on my list.

I am so looking forward to trying their other beers.

The caps on the fridge is an awesome idea. Do you put magnets on the caps for that?

Tiny rare earth magnets from Amazon.

Guys! Guys! Today is a good day.

1) it's my day off this week.

And more importantly 2) they're starting to carry alpine at my local whole foods! Sweet!

My mom lives 5 minutes away from there.

Been there a few times.

They have some crazy stuff on tap all the time.

Plus the food is great!

Missed this post last time I posted.  That beer looks really nice.  :)  And happy day off!  :D
