What keyboard do you use on your Android?
« on: Thu, 31 October 2013, 20:07:43 »
Just wondering if Geekhackers were as picky about the keyboard on their smartphone's touchscreen as their actual keyboards  :))

Android one with built in swiping. Also looks like dolch.

SwiftKey, though it's annoying for forum use.

TouchPal X. Nice keyboard and it's free. I'm pretty fast with it now using the swipe input.

I was using SwiftKey yet I ended up sticking with the stock keyboard. I generally have my laptop or tablet (with keyboard) that I don't really ever need to use my phone to type a whole lot.

I'll definitely be watching to see what other people are using. Might try something new.

I really like Swype, though it seems to conflict with both Chrome and Firefox for some reason.

SwiftKey. The dictionary feature is so handy, but I do hate autocorrect when you are typing some odd words like "topre", hehe.

Nowadays I can hardly type on those QWERTY layouts since I've switched to Norman.

It seems weird that I can't do QWERTY with my thumbs, but I suppose my whole perception of keyboards has kind of changed O_o.

Anyone know of an Android keyboard where you can edit the layout? (I feel like that feature shouldn't be too hard to add, really).

Swype (Not the oem version that came with my phone)

I really like Swype, though it seems to conflict with both Chrome and Firefox for some reason.

If you don't already have it, try Swype + Dragon from the play store. I have no conflicts using it with Chrome or FireFox.

I used to like Swiftkey but it's turned to **** lately so I've gone back to the vanilla 4.3 keyboard. Just wish it was more customisable.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Yeah I was hoping I could avoid that. It's probably more worth my time to type slower on the Android, haha.

You should take a look at Smart Keyboard Pro, my favorite until I had lag issues (probably unrelated to the keyboard).

It's more lenient with the auto-corrections, you can add words to the dictionary, customize spacing between keys, calibrate, etc.

MsYutai - well if you were bored on a rainy day you could pound out a new keyboard layout!  I agree it looks like a lot of work but it's pretty cool the option is out there for those so inclined.

I dont like Swiftkey.  I liked it when it first came out but lately it just isnt working well.

I use the hacker's keyboard,  It's very familiar to anyone on GH, and it supports dual language.

I'm back to the stock one w/ Colemak @ CM10, after trying AnySoftKeyboard and Hacker's Keyboard. I barely type on the phone anyway. Maybe if I had time to port OPTI...

SwiftKey all the way. The only annoying part is entering fields and the auto corrects. I swear typing my email address into a field takes 5 times longer than it should

I plug my pure into it via USB OTG cable: works well.

Eventually I'll do GH60, as my Galaxy S3 doesnt seem to have a dvorak keyboard language installed. Thanks AT&T.

I switched to swype a few days ago and i'm really enjoying it. I don't use my phones keyboard much though so my opinion doesn't really matter, just wanted to give my input. :p

I use dvorak on AnySoftKeyboard. It's really good. Also there's a good SSH layout, but unfortunately for me it's in qwerty.
