[IC] PBT Triangle - Major Update (7/1/21)
« on: Sat, 12 December 2020, 10:50:23 »

Welcome to PBT Triangle.
If this keyset looks familiar, its because you've seen GEON used it in his keyboard renders.
Given permission by GEON from GEONWORKS, I bring to you this simple and elegant set.
This basic kit will come in monochrome and accent colors give this set a striking yet subtle elegance.

*This set has been given FULL permission by Geon himself. No need for Mito drama here.

The manufacturer for this will be GeekArk. The recent keycaps they have done are beautiful and the quality control has been spectacular. I've also been in contact with the manufacturer directly and they've assured their quality. There's a video done by wildcat on their keycaps. Do check it out. Oh wow, these looks amazing. Not only are those legends super crisp, they even capture a lot of the old school Cherry quirks (like center centered 1.25u control)!

Now I doubly can't wait for this set, will Geekark become the new defacto PBT manu?

This set has potential, but those homing keys don't fit in whatsoever. Please try to come up with a better design for the homing keys.

Regardless the design drama i'm pretty curious about this manufacturer.

Konstantin is right, the homing keys look a bit off to me too.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of the design of the barred homing keys. Worst case, if you don't like how it fits you can use the scooped homing keys, they have that same triangle design.

HAHA... This has full permission from geon so im not the least bit worried.

How can Geon give you permission to use a design by Mito? :D

I think you misunderstood that reference.
He meant that your keycap set looks a bit like GMK Pixel by Mito.

It was a joke though and I don't think that your set looks too similar to Pixel.

I would say it looks like GMK Pixel more than just a bit... When I opened this thread I thought I accidentally opened a GMK Pixel thread.

On closer inspection, I prefer this kit more, but yeah... pretty similar.

This came before pixel - in fact a lot of people weren't happy about mito's set as it was so close to this.

I'd put the F1-4 and F8-12 in the alphas kits and only include F5-8 in the mods kits. Also to echo Konstantin I really don't like the barred homing keys.

Geon has been using this on his renders for at least 4 months, long before Mito had posted anything about Pixel, https://www.instagram.com/p/CC03aE4hagU/
I've asked Mito about the similarities between Geon's renders (and thus this set) and Mito's set, and he said "I believe this is a situation where two things get developed at the same time without the parties knowing"

The two R3 keys in the middle.

Can't be sure since they aren't labeled in the kit image, but I think those might be scooped only? So what do you do if you happen to prefer barred :D

Anyway, if the goal is to have the barred homing keys stand out visually (in addition to being physically different), how about keeping the triangle shape but making it slightly different, e.g. by making the flat inner edge of the triangle on those keys subtly curved in towards the middle? Something like this:

Just a random idea. Probably bad.

@ZLightningZap: Could you confirm which keys in the kit images are homing and what type they are (scooped/barred/nipple/...)?
