  • Is there a limit to how many each person can buy?
  • How do we buy more than one?
  • Can the first 57 have the engraving on more than one?
Logic would suggest:
  • No.
  • 1 form = 1 keyboard, submit more forms.
  • What's the point of having two (for example) 3/57s? Of course you can't.
I doubt the answer you'd receive from anyone else would be different; I'll be very surprised if they are.

Thanks. I guess I was looking at the # question as having more than one weight so you could have one brass and one ss. But yeah I guess that doesn't really make sense in the overall scheme.

1. I don't think there's a limit, within reason.  If you're looking to get like 10, ask ninja directly.
2. submit the order form more than once.
3. No, you only get one numbered weight period (your primary selected weight), even if you order extra weights.

Does the lunar grey have the option to not get diffuser as shown in the pictures?

Also, any word on lowering the amount for customs?

The diffuser is part of the MIRA SE case design, the aluminum is cut to include it, so if you don't insert the diffuser, there'll be a gap in the case.

The grey board is from the Chinese Group Buy. Once the manufacturer returns from celebrating the Chines New Year I will ask about either an aluminum or stainless spacer.

Awesome thanks. With that being said would be be able to buy both an acrylic and aluminum spacer if it's available?

Oh crap, is there any way to get around that? I've heard about PS/2, but not sure about the logistics of using it.

I've heard of this too, but I'm actually not sure how it works on many of the modern PCBs as almost everyone uses USB. Only a few PCBs support NKRO over USB, despite supporting it in the matrix.

I heard a while back that converting it to PS2 and then back to USB can do it, but that sounds kind of sketchy and dubious.

Here's a thread with some LED photos:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=54702.0

Generally used are 2x3x4 rectangular LEDs and 1.8mm small LEDs (down the first page for photos and description).  Either of those work.

I believe most get them from eBay (or Aliexpress).

just get 1,8mm.  the 234 size isn't compatible with all caps.
I believe 2x3x4 LEDs interfere with row 3 of cherry profile, in particular.

I have and  used OG Dolch caps too without issues with rectangular LEDs.  Have you made sure the LEDs are fitted neatly and pushed all the way in?  (All of my LEDs are in SIP sockets anyway).

Yeah, I'd recommend 1.8mm LEDs for the most hassle-free experience when it comes to issues you might run into with cap clearance.

before I order,

Who all are the reputable US based keyboard assemblers?
Need a bonafide, trustworthy person.
Trying to avoid another TheChemist disappearing with $800+ of my gear.

Thanks

Ninjadoc and I were talking about this a few nights ago. He'll finalize the assembler list soon.

Whoever it will be though, the goal is to keep things consistent. IE: all assemblers using the same solder - I advocate for Kester 44 - ultimately it's ninjadoc's call though.

I haven't been following the threads too much, but just want to make sure if I can assemble the keyboard WITHOUT the acrylic diffurer.

I'm almost sure it can but just wanted a 100% confirmation  ;)

This is not possible. The diffuser/bottom half was made to be integral.

Hmm, strange that I haven't had the same issues.  In any event, 1.8mm LEDs seem like a good idea... if they come in colors one wants.  I only see them in fairly standard colors, unfortunately.  I have a few different 2x3x4 cyans and interesting warm pink ones that I love.  But for standard colors, 1.8mm is the way to go now, especially if they fit switches with SIP sockets without falling out easily (I like how 2x3x4 fit tightly into the bottom stem mold).

They come in a pretty nice selection. In my experience, they also fit flush and snug in SIP sockets and the LED recesses for Cherry switches. I myself bought quite a few 2x3x4mm varieties and encountered the clearance issues described with Gateron PBT blanks, doubleshot OG Cherry caps, and OG Dyesubs.

when hubbs started the project, NASA had been around (officially) 57 years. perhaps that means the number of engraved keyboards should be increased to 58?

Any hints on what the engraving will look like? Just curious, as I am not in the first 57 list.

Is there a picture somewhere where I can see the board from the top?  I'm deciding on this one or the LZ CLS and I will buy the board which has the thinner bezels.  Is anyone here able to make a judgement on that?  I have the lz-rv and I think it has quite the fat bezels which is not my preference, it seems to me that the cls has the same width, probably something standard on all lz boards.

Kind of hard to see:

ps: could someone enlighten me why anyone would want to buy the steel weight if it is lighter and more expensive?  Just curious.

This is killin me guys. I've trying to pare down my collection and to stop buying expensive boards. But I love this board! :(
Let's talk about how cool it isn't and how I don't need it.

Let me know if you find an excuse. I'm trying to find one since the IC has started and failed miserably so far.

Don't find an excuse! :)
Please buy one!

Guys, this article describes me.  This board may be my last for a while.  I get so happy when a new board comes in that I get to customize.  I've got problems.

Here's more pictures of the mira https://bbs.wstx.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=700766&page=1&extra=#pid8857629

I chose steel cause it looks better.

brass with the blue case looks ugly
