Hey guys!
I'm happy to bring you my new keyset KAT "Atlantis" Or if you will "KATlantis" ;)
The inspiration for this set comes from the lost city of Atlantis and all the mysteries of the deep ocean. It also just comes from my insane love of all things water-related
The set is featuring new custom icons we have made to follow the theme of Atlantis text/runes.
I am considering custom icons for all keys if these are received well and requested!

If you have read the Timeus by Plato.... it’s exactly where he says it should be on a map he drew, it’s the exact diameter, the correct amount of concentric rings, mountains to the north with evidence rivers once flowed down them, opened up to the sea in the south. The list goes on. It’s Atlantis.
This is themed around the fictional/mythical Atlantis :D

Yes! When I go back through all the kits for editing I will add row profiling to all kits and sizing to keys that don't have it :D

That’s so wrong it’s a joke. But if you want to continue believeing every lie you’re fed go ahead. That article says only Plato knew about atlantis when Plato himself said he learned it from an elder in his family who learned it from Egyptians. Not to mention the Egyptians also have many temples describing Atlantis. A shipwreck from Atlantis was found carrying the metal they used to use as described by both Plato and the Egyptians. What are the chances that they both describe something so exact and it happens to be a “natural structure”. I love the explanations of how it formed naturally cause I’ve heard 3 year olds tell more believable lies.

It also says there is no evidence to suggest that that part of the Sahara was underwater. Except to the west of the structure are tons of whale skeletons and seashells. No evidence?

There is no colevrak layout. It's just a name for an add-on kit that will let you make Colemak, Dvorak, or some other layout when combined with the normal alphas.

The erroneous (YMMV) conflation of "UK English national layout" and "ISO physical layout" is a big part of the reason for the confusion, and that's what needs to change in order to solve the "ISO disagreement" (to call it mildly).
This is why I've taken to write "UK English over ISO" and "US English over ISO or ANSISO" in full all the time, to make it clearer (even if it does come off as a bit pedantic). Once we get past that confusion, we could talk about "exotic" stuff as well, like the German layout over ISANSI (something that CAN be done, thanks to wodan's HADapter).

It is, obviously, not seen a lot today, but back in the '80s it was common to see ANSISO keyboards for personal computers; remember that during that time, terminal keyboards ALL had vertical Enter keys ("regular ISO" in IBM keyboards, or "thin ISO" in DEC and DEC-style units), so many users preferred the vertical Enter over the horizontal ("ANSI") one, even while using the US English national layout. Check out this Ortek MCK-142 keyboard (https://i.imgur.com/zdoNQqW.jpg) for a particularly good example of it.
NOWADAYS, as people into this hobby try out things and build their own keyboards, they can well try out the vertical Enter! And if using the US English national layout, they don't HAVE to suffer with the "short left Shift" if they don't want to, either. Modern PCBs support either Enter key without issue and are capable of transparently determining the position of the \| key (R2 or R3), so... let the users have the option to use horizontal or vertical Enter keys (*). Even if they are 'muricans with no interest in using anything other than the US English national layout and the long left Shift.

KAT row labels are bottom-up, not the typical top-down. Atlantis Text Mod labels are correct. But still, the ISO kit labels aren't perfect.

All though I've gotta say.. I do like the original design of the angler fish novelty. But I totally understand why it was changed.
I would have thought the Atlantis building or ruins would have been one of the first ones changed. Those do have quite a bit going on. Little harder to tell what they are without a closer look.
But anyway. The set looks really good! I back this fully. Cant wait for an update on a date.

Hey guys! Today I have several changes and additions to the kits based on feedback. I have also added a deskmat, so let me know what you think!
The Changes:
-Changed Modifiers kit to Full Atlantean icons

Today I just have some more changes/additions I have been meaning to make. You can find these and others in the "UPDATES" at bottom of main most.

-Removed extra mod tilde & pipe keys in alphas, greek alphas, korean alphas

As with a elven language alphabet or Star Wars Empire signing on alpha's they tend to give a board a pretty weird vibe and make it unusable to others in a household. And it's a lot of work do design for no other reason than a cool look.
I might love it if they are done, but I'm also having strong reservations against buying them.

I think this has been missed, so I'll emphasize it (maybe SomeGreekGuy will confirm) -- the current Greek kit is only 99% the Greek layout. The confusion might be because many Greek keyboards include Qwerty symbols as well.
The letter "Q" doesn't exist in Greek, so the Q key should instead be ; : (semicolon bottom, colon top).
The key to the right of Λ should be ´ ¨ (acute accent bottom, diaresis accent top -- should line up with ' and " on the next key). This is used in combination with vowels to type άέήίόύώ, ϊϋ and even ΐΰ (e.g. for ΐ, by pressing ´ then ¨ then ι).
I think by "seem off", SomeGreekGuy might also mean the font -- are the letters hand drawn? Capital theta needs to have space between the "-" part and the "O" part, it shouldn't touch like a lowercase theta: θ but have a gap as in Θ.
Similarly, the capital psi should be like a U crossed with an I; it shouldn't be like a rounded W with a tail -- one curve, not two: Ψ.
I'm less sure about this, but the omega should probably have less or no vertical "legs": Ω.
Finally, I think the "final sigma" is probably slightly misaligned, as it's actually a lowercase letter. (Uppercase sigma is Σ, lowercase σ is used within words and ς used if it's the last letter of a word: Ὀδυσσεύς = Odysseus.) The "tail" belongs below the line, and the "C" part should be a little smaller than "Ε" or any other capital. I realize this might look slightly odd, but presumably doesn't look any more odd to a Greek than resulting alignment of "_" or "°" keys on other layouts.

I'm interested in either the Orth or Ergo kit -- probably the Ergo kit, as it has many more 1U R1 keys, and lots of 1U thumb keys on my Ergodash (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/501437fce9123ecdaa15e9d15ec325b4) (70 keys total).
The current Ergo render shows some duplicates amongst the 1U R1 keys, namely:
- three Alt/Option keys (if that's the wavy line with a dot below and above)
- three Sys keys (diamond with a centre dot)
- three of the ones with three horizontal lines
- two home (swishy up arrow)
- two end (swishy down arrow)
Pairs of icon mod keys are excellent (I can have Alt, Ctrl, Sys on each side, or use them alone for pretty much anything), but three of the same seems a bit excessive, so I think this is five redundant keys.
Personally, I'd prefer:
- two 1U R1 shift keys
- a 1UC R1 space key
- a 1U R1 enter key
- a 1U R1 backspace key
That still leaves the normal four arrows, three arrow pairs (PgUp/Down, Home/End, maybe that's Raise/Lower), four modifier pairs and delete. That gives plenty of flexibility for larger orth, split, or 3D keyboards.
Hopefully this is useful feedback, it's an excellent design, even if on a board with entirely 1U keys I can't make use of the best novelties.

I appreciate the feedback and interest in interest in my set! I will look into updating the ergo kit. The French kit key you pointed out was an error I forgot to fix.

That’s awesome, thanks! I’d say R2 will make the most people happy (including me).
Would you consider swapping the plain space bars for accented ones? I can understand that with so many sizes it might not be possible to have both, but if we have to choose one I think most people would prefer the accent color. Then we can do Esc, Space, and Enter like the other kits. After all, isn’t the point of a kit like this to get that pop of color on the accent keys?

I don’t understand the logic. If most *do* want the accents, why leave it out of the kit?
Two reasons:
1. Not everyone wants the bar. Most might, but then for those that don't you are adding an extra set of bars to the 40's/ortho kit.
2. If you put the mini bars in the 40's/ortho kit, then those who have boards larger than 60% that use mini bars will have to buy the 40's/ortho kit, which is at least double the cost of a spacebar kit.

Is there any way to get a second tab in the modifiers kits? With a second tab you can buy two alphas and one mod and piece together two different 60%. Also why are there 3 escape keys in the kit?

If total number of keycaps spread over whatever amount of kits is the key here, KAT sets should be going the full route and not make a "base alphas" kits + "north"/"south", etc., but instead a full set of kits for each alpha layout ("English (USA) - QWERTY", "English (USA) DVORAK", "English (UK)", "German", "Spanish", "Iberoamerican", "Italian", "Norwegian", "Greek", etc.) plus a full set of kits for most of the common modifiers ("TKL/fullsize", "75%", "60%/65", "1800", etc.), with the more numerous variants (TKL, 65%) even being offered in different styles ("English mods", "Spanish mods", "German mods", "all icons").
MUCH of the work between sets could be shared if agreeing previously to the same font (albeit that would apply to sets where a differing font is a selling point, like Atlantis or Lich, for example).

Sure, so you could run an early poll during the IC phase, to weed out "unwanted" kits. Doing, say, a "KAT TROPICS" set and several people are requesting the Brazilian layout while no one wants the Icelandic and the Faroese? Cut those two out!

Thanks for trying to help. I'd seen both pics before asking. I use a 75% board without any separation for the arrow or function keys (a la satisfaction, evolv, bella, etc). I use different material keys (steel, wood) so that I can feel a difference.
Problem is most all of these odd keycaps are OEM and I was wondering if I'd still be able to use em without it appearing too weird.
I'm guessing yes since the height of KAT and OEM look similar.

Thanks for trying to help. I'd seen both pics before asking. I use a 75% board without any separation for the arrow or function keys (a la satisfaction, evolv, bella, etc). I use different material keys (steel, wood) so that I can feel a difference.
Problem is most all of these odd keycaps are OEM and I was wondering if I'd still be able to use em without it appearing too weird.
I'm guessing yes since the height of KAT and OEM look similar.

KAT has a spherical top (like DSA and SA), while OEM has a cylindrical top. That's one way you might be able to feel a difference. A small difference in appearance might look nice, similar to Return and ESC highlight keycaps.
