Can you add to my order 2 Stabilizer Set and 15 Duck Blockers?

Hi Elton, thanks for the spread sheet which made me realized I need the stabilizers as well. Two sets. One for light saver and the other as spare. Also would want to buy the spare plate just in case my layout needs modifying.

I'd try to finish filling the assembly form in a week or 2.

If you are getting assembly, you don't need to buy any stabilizers, they're included. If you want extras, I think it's okay though. Max 2 sets.

I'm pretty sure my order looks good, so the cost so far is 295 + 70 (assembly) + shipping?

my order should be silver, not gray. I need whichever plate supports 1.25x,1.25x,1.25x,6.25x,1.5x,1.5x,1x,1x which I believe is the original plate and that spreadsheet shows me with the new plate? thanks

Weird, I'll fix it. No plates will fit that layout. Read my previous posts please. You can do that without a plate.

My order should be gray, with original plate. I will go ahead and refill assembly form since it looks like it didn't go through.

One setup I saw used 15 blockers. It is easier to buy blockers now than to need them later and not be able to get them. I'm sure I can find some use for them in other circumstances.

Any chance you could find a link to that setup?  I completely agree about buying now rather than needing later, that's why I asked.  Maybe I'm missing out on a really cool layout option!   ;)

one last question, i'm usually out for work all day and i'm unsure of my work address in the near future so i will probably have to ship this to my mother or a friend of mine if i choose to buy one. will there be any problem with changing the shipping address during the production process?

Elton, I see the layout options but it doesn't say which options use plate and which do not? The only 1800 themed layout with a 6.25x spacebar can't use a plate?

Yes I can change your address as long as it's not shipped yet.

Plate only layouts on the form. As I've said it won't fit on any plates offered here.

1.25x,1.25x,1.25x,6.25x,1.5x,1.5x,1x,1x is on the assembly form (Space bar Option D) but you also said this layout only works without a plate?? Man, I'm super confused now, lol.

Oh opps. Let me double check.

Edit: okay I added that one later on and that layout D is only without plate. Forgot about that.

No need to be confused. Either way I've already said that layout can't be used with plate anyways.

You just said that all options on the assembly form use plate then you said that statement was a mistake. Then said there is no need to be confused because you posted earlier in the thread that option doesn't use plate? Now I'm REALLY CONFUSED!! :D

They are these
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=56877.msg1288763#msg1288763

And they are meant to block certain switch positions so that you don't need to put a switch there but it won't look like a hole.  So they're aesthetics for giving a certain functionality.

It's not a stupid question so don't worry. I think it's possible, but I'm not sure what the firmware program can do regarding capslock, numlock and special keys. It might have to hardwired differently in which case you have to ask elton to ask duck and see if he's willing to do it.

That is seriously cool. You mean I can now change my caps lock to the timeout corner - where it should be - without a DIP switch?  :))
That alone justifies this keyboard for me. 8)

Just make sure you program your layer toggle key somewhere far out of reach.  I used to hit mine accidentally and would then get "delete" instead of "right arrow" on the numpad when viewing photographs--not fun  ;)

I think you misunderstood, the layer toggle changes layout if you have your layers set up differently.  And there are 4 layers!  So if you hit the key accidentally and don't notice, most things behave normally, but say your numpad might now be doing different things from the previous layer.  So like "delete" instead of a directional arrow :)  I think it would actually be very helpful to show layers in a way that does not involve LED blinking x number of times constantly (that gets old quickly, so I disabled it), but there's no display attached, and those who use LEDs for everything would not benefit from having extra indicator LEDs (like on F4 for Layer #4).  There are other ways to swap layers too, but it's definitely something to think about and experiment with.  I used to have Layer Toggle as a 1x function key to the right of the right Shift, and quickly moved it away farther out of reach.

Hmm that's some food for thought. Does the layers go in circles (so 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 --> 1) ?The easiest way I can see is to solder in some non-switched LEDs and use those as indicator (like the poker 2 spacebar LED); but it might not be very visible if you turn on every single LED on the board.

Ultimately though, you have to look at some kind of indicator when the layer is changed, usually after the wrong key is pressed. So I think as long as the indicator is clearly visible and recognizable, it shouldn't be too much trouble.

You can have it go in a loop like that every time you press a key (Ly TG) or you can switch to a layer directly (Ly CH+ number).  2 different binding options.  Or you can bind "Ly 4" to go directly to layer #4, etc.

http://duck0113.tistory.com/84

The indicator is by default the top right-most LED. It either blinks x number of times quickly every 2 seconds ALL THE TIME or only shows the layer number when you switch.  The blink succession is very fast.  Best to not bind Layer Toggle and instead bind actual layer numbers or Ly CH for more precision.

If you think of number lock as the second layer, I think a third is doable on top of navigation / numberpad even if it's just a media/macro layer that doesn't cover the whole keyboard. On a keypad I've got a layout that's regular numpad navigation on layer 1, numeric keypad on layer 2, and media hotkeys on layer 3 and it works pretty well. I was experimenting with copy / paste macros on the third layer as well but they were too unwieldy and I ended up sticking those on my extra mouse buttons where they are actually much handier.
