I liked the color of Veuve Clicquot's label and decided to do some googling. Turns out the color is Pantone 137C. This set is designed around a love for Pantone 137C. The legends are CR. If you would like the above banner, go to profile>modify profile>forum profile>signature>copy and paste this:

WHY ADA?

Ada is considered to be one of the first computer  programmers as a result of her work on Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine and she also happens to be the child of Lord Byron, a prominent poet and rake of his time. As this is a keyset and is originally inspired by the color of a Champagne brand, it seemed fitting to name it after the mother of programming and the daughter of a debaucherous merrymaker: GMK ADA.

Kitting

I copied Lightning’s kitting, with his permission, on Dolch r5 and made one slight adjustment to the extension kit (adding 2 1u spacebars). Sorry for not including the sculpt on the renders. Sculpt: 1-1-2-3-4-5. So R5 bottom row.  I’m willing to accommodate changes if it makes sense. MATCHES YOLK?

At roughly the same time as designing this set, I ordered a Rama u80 in yolk and also some FFFF switches because I saw a photo on Instagram that showed that Matrix FFFF switches were a close match to Rama’s yolk. In the image below, you can see how close a match yolk is to the FFFF switches and also my image showing how close the FFFF switch is to a plastic sample of Pantone 137C. I had no intention of making them a close match, it just happened that way. It may not be a perfect match but it seems close. Therefore GMK ADA may be a very close match for yolk keyboards. Rama does not release color codes so I cannot confirm. As a result, I decided to include renders of a Rama Koyu in Pantone 137c. If you are interested in this set because it might be a close match with Yolk, please consult the images below and determine how close they are for yourself.

WHAT DOES THE COLOR LOOK LIKE IN REAL LIFE?

One of the nice things about this set is you don’t need to ponder what the color will look like in reality as opposed to on your screen. You simply need to go to your local grocery/liquor store and pick up a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. The label is the correct color. On the other hand, my plastic sample of Pantone 137C has two sides, a shiny side and a matte finished side. The shiny label on the bottle is a perfect match for the shiny side of the plastic sample. The matte side is a very tiny bit different in color. So please keep this in mind as the matte side of this plastic sample is what I will be matching the keycaps to. Another way to confirm the color is to buy Matrix FFFF switches as they seem pretty close in color. I recently bought some on ilumkb.com.

SIMILARITY TO OTHER SETS

The closest set that I could think of is GMK honey. I asked his permission and he has yet to get back to me. Pantone 137C I believe is quite different from his Pantone 123C. Pantone 137C can look almost orange if it is not in direct sunlight. You can see how different the color can look in different lightings in the photos I provided but also just by googling bottles of Veuve Clicquot and seeing how different the label looks under different lighting setups. I also use black legends and text + icon mods while he uses white legends and icon mods. In my opinion it would be equivalent to calling gmk striker too similar to GMK Masterpiece as they are both blue and Japanese themed. I personally think this set is different enough to not worry about stepping on toes. But if anyone has other sets that I should ask permission that I am missing feel free to DM me.

You don't need the extra R2 1.25u Tab and R1 2u Backspace keys in the Extension kit since, unlike Dolch R5, this set doesn't have an extra alphas kit. The extra R1 1u `~ and R2 1.5u \| are also unnecessary since this set only uses two colors. All of these keys can be removed from the kit.

Based on popularity, ISO-UK keys should be in Extension; and R3 Pg Up, R4 Pg Dn, R4 1.5u Super ×2 and second R4 1u Alt (not Alt Gr) should be in Base, rather than the other way around.

The second 1c space in Extension should be replaced with a 1.25c space. Only ortho boards use two 1u spaces, and since this set doesn't have ortho support, there's no need for a second one of these keys. On the other hand, 1.25c is useful for all standard split 6.25u space configurations, as well as for Alice-like boards. Optionally, you can also add two 3c spaces for standard split 7u space configurations and various boards that use a 3u space.

The R4 1u Ctrl key in Extension can be removed as there aren't any modern non-ortho boards that use two 1u Ctrls. Alternatively, you can change this key to a generic legend (such as Code), which will allow it to be used as a filler key in some miscellaneous layouts. But it's probably better if you just remove it to make room for something else that's more useful.

I will look into this.

Other insights I am gathering:

People might prefer icon mods. I chose text + icon because I thought it gave it a little more of a retro/classic look. But I will think about this.

Kitting needs some work as I have duplicate keys etc.

If anyone has any other suggestions or cool ideas please share. Either on the form provided at the top or just post in the feed. Both work for me. Happy to think about any ideas/opinions.

I think it is all about preference. I really like home offices with lots of pops of vibrant colors (I don’t mean RGB lights everywhere).

Like one example is Dieter Rams office, it is shown briefly a few times in the below video. The office/house is mostly white with pops of bright colors including yellow:

Perhaps an R1 "=" key? I'm no longer a fan of keebs with num pads, but as a former user I definitely appreciated having that key accessible. (Seems to be missing from many GMK sets, but since you include 1u "+" and "-" then it would seem to be appropriate and useful.)

Unfortunately a week after posting the IC, my father was diagnosed with ALS. Along with figuring out what to do about his situation, I am business partners with my father, so it has caused a large increase in my workload on both fronts. So this passion project has taken a back seat as a result. I hope to be able to still run this set. I really appreciate people loving this set and I still really want this set too. I have been debating whether I can handle the time commitment of marketing the set along with handling everything with family and business. I have also been debating how public I should be about the details of my situation which is why I have been radio silent till now. I have been debating several scenarios: 1. Me running the set. 2. Me handing the set off to either a retailer or community member 3. Dropping this set.

1. If I run the set, I do not plan to spend time adding novelties. I will clean up the kitting to get rid of duplicate keys and would plan on limited marketing if any.
2. This would entail handing all design decisions and profits off to someone else. They can decide to add novelties etc. There were some great ideas people had for additions to the set. If anyone is interested feel free to reach out. I will let those people know when I decide what to do.
3. Dropping the set and simply opening the idea up to anyone in the future that wants to do something similar.

Really appreciate the support guys and apologies for the radio silence!

Best wishes during this difficult time. That disease doesn't give you the benefit of a regular timetable relative to planning and logistics much less the feelings relative to an illness affecting a loved one.

I don't have much in keyset expertise or the ability to draw anything more detailed than a Bernoulli number to say nothing of the theoretical Note G deskmat, but if someone taking it over wants render money I can help there. I'm also not the only one who will still want this in 18 months.
