So are we going to get our incorrectly made/mirrored look of disapproval keys replaced by SP, or do we have to buy another to have the proper look?

Please can anyone affected by keys that don't fit (caps lock, spacenew...) vote in this poll.

Just voted that the replacements can be sent along with the Round 4 stuff

I had to cut off the SYMBOL key myself and I'm using the \KL key as backspace on my Tipro, btw.

I'm also missing 4 of 5 row 4 Tux keys, BTW.

As for the space bar: I'm using a 1.5 units blank key as space on my Tipro, so don't be so picky about your wrong 6 units space bar.

:-)

PS: If somone is still missng keys, please write me a message.

I don't see how your Tipro spacebar or backspace is relevant to any of the mistakes SP made.

Or to the way we've had zero communication from you for two months on when the worst mistakes might get fixed.

If only it was just one wrong 6 units spacebar.
ALL of the keyboards that I wanted to use the doubleshots and blanks on require a 6 units spacebar - I ordered EIGHT of them in all.

Playing down my complaint is just plain rude. And even more so if it was meant as a joke.

I limited my poll to just the keys that are disastrously wrong, because that would minimize the work needed, and would at least get usable keys to those who need them.

At the beginning of July you said you would try to get the caps locks sorted out ASAP, so what happened?

OK, and who pays for the extra shipping?

I'm quite sure to get the key caps in a reasonable amount of time. A big box would arrive at iMavs distribution centre. And then?

Edit:

Just read that with those 8 space bars!

I'm deeply shocked. I had no idea! I thought it would be just one of a zillion of keyboards whcih would not get its proper space bar.

I will see what I can do about that specfic thing ...

Thank-you! You see my point! :-)

I presume that every SPACENEW space bar was wrong (CLEAR, BLACK, and GREY certainly are). Partly this may be our fault though - our diagram shows the switch stem in the wrong place. Any of us could/should have spotted it and had it corrected. But the stabilizer stems are clearly SP's fault (if that was the diagram they were given).

I don't mind paying some extra shipping! If we got fixed keys to iMav (or someone), then at least people could choose whether to pay for shipping to get them soon, or wait til round 4 ships. (I imagine that a lot of people aren't too worried about the stepped caps lock, since it doesn't affect Filco, Leopold etc, so would be happy to wait).

Hell, I don't even mind paying for the new keys, if it's our fault. But I can't do that alone, I need your leverage with them after placing such a large order, to get a reasonable price! Unfortunately the required SPACENEW are a variety of colours, with not very many of each (judging by the last statistics email).

Please can you consider the stepped caps lock as well, and perhaps the unstepped-but-offset keys too ([strike]although I haven't noticed anybody particularly bothered by them yet[/strike] particularly colemak backspace).

I've noticed these things, too!

1, I and | are all the same.

0 and O are also very similar. I believe they are cutting costs this way. They do the label once and then use it for as many keys as possible, even if in reality it is not the same letter. No wonder, sometimes labels get mirrored or upside down ...

I got a message that they will re-do most of the wrong keys including the too big Apple key and the off-center Caps Lock keys.

I'm not sure about the awesome face.

I'm still a bit pissed that I only got one SC2 Terran Key in esc. size and not two in win key size(random key is also missing one random key, same size error as the terran key)... Never joining a group buy again. I understand the complications of organizing group buys.. But it shouldn't take over 6 months no matter how custom made the keys are.

WaffleIron, sorry that it took a month for the postal service to deliver your keys.  7bit and iMav don't do group buys for a living.  It is not even their part time job.  It is thier hobby.  SP did screw up the order like didn't make enough Terran keys.  But you are not buying keys from Amazon.

If you think it should never take 6 months to do, why don't you do it?  If you do it, it should only take a couple of weeks, right?  Maybe we will get the Round 4 keys before 7bit is back from his 3-week vacation?

I think there is a (excellent, IMO) "benchmark" out there from the first SP group buy done by White Rice.  He put the design out there, people signed up and paid, product was shipped and the turn around was quick.  When you start adding voting, choice, complaining, etc., it really draws out the process.  Either this is understood, or the voting, choice, etc. gets reduced/eliminated.  Knowing how fickle the GH group is, you're always better off by offering something and letting people just buy it (because they will) instead of trying to garner everyone's input.

I feel like there are group buys, and then there is the Group Buy.  You can just say "Round 3" around here and everyone knows what you mean.  Isn't it true that R3's prices were as low as they were because of the hugeness and variety of the order?  Would all the smaller group buys it absorbed have happened without it?

Regular old group buys should definitely be run like, "this is what I'm getting, buy in if you're interested".  But I like that we have the One Group Buy to Rule Them All lumbering along to provide interesting full sets at a reasonable price.

The problem is that there is no money left for distribution of those keys. So we've got to wait for Round 4 to ship. SP does only the keys plus shipping to one site for free.

If you've got a solution, let me know it!

Besides which, I don't see how waiting for round 4 helps, in the case that someone who is due replacement keys is not taking part in round 4...?!

OK, that's a point!

Is there anybody who can do the shipping?

The idea is that the majority will get stuff from R4, so there will be only a few who will get R3 replacements only.

One solution would be to do the distribution along with  keyboardlover's Dyesub Group Buy.

I don't know... do you have a [strike]poor sucker[/strike] kind person lined up to do the round 4 distribution yet?

Sure, but there would still be a cost, and what if it turns out not to be the majority? Can you assess that yet from the votes you've already had for round 4?

I'm not sure how that helps unless there's a reasonable overlap in the people involved... but I'm listening :-)

I could get the key caps for the EU guys sorted out and sent over along with the Unicomp stuff and then distributed locally to keep the costs down.

What Unicomp stuff? I'm more confused now than those poor folks trying to work out the Round 4 order codes!

PS. Post 5555! This thread just will not die...

How do we make sure we're "registered" to receive missing terran keys / replacements for upside down ]} keys if their coming in round 4?

So, 7bit...

NOW that Melissa has agreed to redo the faulty keys AND there is someone to distribute round4 keys AND I've agreed to pay for the shipping of my keys from whoever that might be...

What is stopping you getting the replacement keys made and sent to the distribution center?

7bit could you register me to receive my missing keys from round 3 as well? They are:
2 x SPACEGREY
2 x SCWINTERRAN
