Can't be doubleshots in that case, and they'll have to change the key cap color if they want to do dye sublimination. With pad printing they'd be very limited when it comes to colors too. But a white key with a blue or black horse might look cool still.

Imo if you made modifications to the SVG all of the issues with the doubleshot would have been worked out. However nobody was on hand to make those changes who also had enough understanding of what needed to be done to make it look right. Its fine because that's how it goes, but I'm just saying that since this group buy has been a marathon anyway, the rush to "go ahead" with a mouthless, nostriless, eyeless version was ill done. If I was the guy that bought 50, I would have been pretty choked.

I asked Melissa to advice me based on her experience and was told that there was no way to get it done even with the smallest cutters (these would also have created jagged artifacts at the edges of the details if they were used). Adjusting the size of the facial details to match their minimum requirements made the design look terrible and completely out of proportion. I talked to the guy that ordered 50 of them and to him it was far more important to get the colors right than to have a nostril and eye. If you're unhappy with the keys you can send them back and I will refund you.

Good news everyone! RColinTaylor pm'd me this via IRC last night:

"Hi Robert, we were indeed aware of how Wihl was doing this and really like the way the product turned out. We're going to be considering adding it into our store, we agree its a neat product and would like it to be something our users can enjoy. We had some complications with how our store worked at one point and how our warehouse handles items but it looks like they're getting at least partially solved, so in the future hopefully..."

RCT said he would have posted this himself but the post-malware Chrome issue is making things difficult. So there you go, more TL keys likely available in the future.

I don't mind giving a shot at fixing it if we ever need to do it. So yeah, contact me when that time comes.

That's good news. Kind of crappy if they're commandeering the legend and not compensating whoever it was that made it though. (Wihl?) I'll be curious to see how they turn out.

It's their unique logo in the first place. Also, they said it would be similar to the geekhack one, but it has to be given that it's based on the same logo.

I'm sure they're not copying and pasting the legend from this OP. They're going to make their own, but it'll look roughly the same because the source material is the same.

Those are all assumptions. If they do use the SVG as a starting point they should compensate whoever made it, even though it's their own logo.

Ragnorock showed me the post where you showed the test mold that had the nose/eyes/horrible jaw
If I can get the SVG, I think I can change it a bit, so the horse doesn't become so skinny, actually have a jaw and doesn't look like a unicorn and possibly even give it eyes.

The cutter just follows the border of black and white and as the cutter has width, it took a lot of white off. Resulting in skinny horse + wtf jaw + unicorn horns + massive eyes/nostrils.
I'm sure we can fix and get it looking like the actual TL logo.

I'm not trying to make the keys, I wanna make sure that TL the best looking keycap that they can. If they have someone to modify the SVG already, I'll stay out of it. But if you're just gonna hand over the current one to them, then I rather step in and help make sure they can make it look better.

Also I got the SVG, it's the correct one. I'll post a changed one up after I'm done playing some games with my mate.

no, i haven't requested a resend. The postal system in this country is notoriously slow and therefore i knew that it will take some time. Also the postal center in my company (where you sent it to) took some time to forward it to me.

And yes, i really like them. I was a bit worried about the lag of mouth but it turned out beautiful (maybe even better because of the simplicity?!)

Odd, thought I had replied a few days ago. Guess I must have written it and never pressed send or something. Everyone (5 people) that sent me PMs saying you never recieved anything have been sent new packages. I'm waiting for a package from WASD Keyboards as well that was sent a couple of weeks ago.. Not sure what's causing the delays.
