The Maja

I ordered the forest green, the big selling point for me wast the Alice layout with arrow keys. I don't know how people function without the arrow keys, I want not a fan of having them in a second layer on previous keybs

Because of the lack of communication/info on the PC version from OP's side, the dice was not rolled (300$ dice) on my side. Additionally, its made by KBDFans which is known for crappy QA, or god forbids there is a problem with the unit, it would be hell to get the replacement. Even the ALU protos are featured in two videos with a total of 12 secs. Yikes. GL to everyone who did roll the dice.

I have a couple aluminum cases from KBDFans, and there haven't been any problems. One is purple, and it matches their render perfectly. What issues have you heard of?

Yikes. Looks like they have had a lot of problems with e-white (Fusion60) for the and e-yellow (Polaris), now that I look into it. Could be why only normal anodized boards are being offered here.
I'm still pretty hopeful about the green Maja I ordered.

KBDFans is bigger than Rama.
Plus, KBDFans has had lots of QC issues whereas Rama does a really good job.

1. 80% of the top and bottom case is finish and already packed.
2. The factory now is working on the plate and weight.
3. Polycarbonate case is still in progress.

I got a lot of request on R2. For now we are focusing getting R1 right. Maja round 2 is not in plan yet. But it depends, if there's plenty demand we might consider.
we did make some extras, but the extras is for backups in case there are some case that didnt pas QC. so we cant say how many extras will be left for purchase.
I also would like to apologies for the delay on type test. During this pandemic I have to work extra hours and have so little time to spare, what switch do you guys want me to do a type test with?

JLC viewer is just broken for stuff that has too many edge cuts like keyboard plates.

Just got my Maja today. most of the way through building and I noticed that the top-mount screw holes are not tapped. No threads. The screws will not even start to go in them. Anyone else have this issue?I'm really sorry for this, all of the top mount screws are not tapped?
If Kbdfans doesn't offer a fix, anyone know what size the screws are so I could tap it myself?
The screws for the top case to plate are M2, and for the top to bottom case are M3.

Oops, I saw at least one square on the PCB but I didn't put a pad on it. I guess I'll worry about it if I start shorting it. My M65A would restart sometimes if I touched it with static electricity; is that what this prevents, or does it protect from more serious damage?

im using linears as well, nk yellow silks w/ 205g0
i like a bit more reverb but i can totally see the appeal if you're into a more muted sound

Well, would you look at that. I just got the shipping confirmation email from KBDfans an hour ago. Looks like everyone who ordered polycarbonate should have theirs soon.
Now I just have to hope that the extra PCBs I had customer support add to my order will be in the box with my Maja.

Well, the foam that goes between the plate and the PCB is designed to not interfere with the distance between the two. If it wasn't, the switches wouldn't be able to be installed. That means it should have zero effect on the clearances between the top and bottom halves of the case.
Sucks that they apparently messed up the case foam thickness that badly, though.

There was some funkiness with that area of the hot-swap PCB in mine too when I first tested it. Just flash the default hex file (for the version you have, either soldered or hot-swap) from the VIA downloads page. Then you can use VIA to fix that area and add any other functionality you want.

Thank you both for your help. I did reach out to KDBfans support but they didn't offer me a replacement top.
I ended up building it anyway to check if it's sturdy enough without 3 screws or if there's too much flexing.
It doesn't look problematic at the moment, so I'm a bit relieved.
One last thing: Vulcan this board is amazing, really sparked my love for custom mk so thank you for your work on the Maja!

If you look at the previous posts in this thread you will see that the PC version has a gap on the back end of the case where there aren't any screws. Some are severe while others not so much but the fact is the gap is there. Apparently this is an inherent flaw of just turning a design made mainly for aluminum to PC without changes. Could have been seen with protos but I don't know if they did it.
The pic isn't mine but yeah this is what you might expect on a PC Maja

I too was fearful of this but after receiving my PC Maja, I had no gaps and no issues like any reported in this thread. By chance, did you not pat down the foam that touches the back side of the PCB? I made sure that was as flat as possible before assembling the case since I saw some people report gaps.

Follow the driver installation instructions here: https://beta.docs.qmk.fm/using-qmk/guides/driver_installation_zadig. You also probably don't want to use id80 firmware on your maja PCB.

Make sure you have the latest version of Zadig,
open Zadig,
hold esc key on keyboard and plug it in,
click "options" in Zadig,
Select "List All Devices",
In the dropdown select "ATm32U4DFU",
Then to the right of the green arrow (if not green do not attempt to install a driver!) select "libusb-win32" and NOT: WinUSB,
select "replace driver",
once finished, unplug keyboard,
open QMK toolbox (close and reopen if already open),
select .hex file you wish to flash,
hold esc key and plug in keyboard,
flash
I assume it's the same if the keyboard didn't have a driver on it to begin with either. And once again superuser4, thank you for saving my evening with your help.

I'm fairly new to the hobby, so it's nice to know that this is an outlier in terms of build/sound quality vs. expectations. I was worried it was bias from upgrading from a Tofu, but it seems that this board is just really good :)

I gave it a try and then reflashed using qmk, but now VIA doesnt recognize the device. i feel like the issue is related to via since opening via when the board was having issues would sometimes resolve it. any way to get it to work with via again though?

Download it from the site.

Just received and had been using,my Maja for a month but both hot-swap plates for one of my keys fell off, and the whole wiring is messed up and I cant find anyone locally to fix it do you think there is a way to get another Maja PCB it doesn't have to be hot-swapped i just need something to replace my broken one thanks! ( i already contacted kbd fans and they recommended fixing it myself but I don't have that many skills in spoldering) Anyway, i really enjoyed the MK hope you can get back to me.Have you check aftermarket on reddit? I just picked up this keyboard in the last drop, I am having this EXACT issue. Everything from the RGB randomly freezing and keyboard locking up and the keymapping from VIA being lost randomly. KBDfans sent me an updated firmware it seems to have fixed the start up it seems (not 100% still testing) however it has still lost any VIA keymapping randomly.
Were you able to find any solution??
