I'm considering to buy one, but I can't really project myself, could you provide us with a PC top/bottom view with or without brass pcb ?
Would love to see that besides the green and blue ones already out !
I'm really glad Vulcan and KBDfans managed to make this an unlimited GB. I ordered a black version with additional plate and PCB, and will be looking forward to receiving this in a few months' time. However, I'm also curious, like some others in the IC thread, to know if the plate files will be made available after the GB? Also, any plans to disclose sales numbers either during or after the GB window?

Is there any sense when the GB will start shipping? How many months?

Hi!, yes the plate file will be release and opensource.
Just ordered the PC version. Would've been nice to see a prototype—or at least a few additional renders—but this board is too great to not roll the dice. Great work, Vulcan! I'm looking forward to receiving my Maja!
Hilariously enough, the PC version is probably the only version I would get BECAUSE of all the things you said. Knowing KBDFans's colormatching history, I think the PC is the one that is going be predictable in looksJust ordered the PC version. Because of the lack of communication/info on the PC version from OP's side, the dice was not rolled (300$ dice) on my side. Additionally, its made by KBDFans which is known for crappy QA, or god forbids there is a problem with the unit, it would be hell to get the replacement. Even the ALU protos are featured in two videos with a total of 12 secs. Yikes. GL to everyone who did roll the dice.

I have a couple aluminum cases from KBDFans, and there haven't been any problems. One is purple, and it matches their render perfectly. What issues have you heard of?
That being said, I have had two of their PCBs die on me due to static. KBDFans replaced them for me, and that gives me more confidence for this group buy. I think the Maja PCBs are supposed to have ESD protection, but I ordered a spare PCB just in case.

I just saw that the ship date is expected to be September 30th. That is sooner than I expected! I know they're (supposedly) not the same level of quality, but why does Rama take over a year if this is possible. My keycaps won't be ready in time, but that's better than the reverse.

I'm in for a PC, very excited! Was curious if you have any shots of the PC version, and was curious how much the per-key rgb bleeds to the edges on the PC case.
Hi, I hope everybody is doing well,
I got some photo of maja in production from kbdfans. they said the production is going well so far.

What's the ETA on shipping?
That's a bummer, really want this board

Frankly if it does deliver November that's a pretty short time frame for such a large GB.

Will there be a second round for this keyboard? This is literally the board of my dreams and I missed the group buy :/

Have a good day guys!
Any chance there will be extra hotswap pcb's?I might have one for you. I bought a spare pcb just in case.

4 month turn around? Insane
has anyone tried converting to gerbers to cut fr4 on jlcpcb? i'm not sure if the viewer is borked or i'm doing it wrong
I wonder if they're shipping in batches or at once 🤔It's in batches, some already have their tracking numbers, some haven't (I'm included D:)
Anyone figured out how to put the keyboard into reset so I can flash it yet? Can't figure out how to get to layer 2.wow you already received it?

Is there a particular order as to how KBDfans is shipping out this board? I haven't got shipping details yet, but it seems like people are starting to receiving this already.Kbdfans have limit on how many they can ship in a day. They have just start shipping on 30th october.
I'm at Australia, not sure if that impacts anything.

Just received mine and wow is she pretty (and heavy). Hoping the build will go smooth!
Just got my Maja today. most of the way through building and I noticed that the top-mount screw holes are not tapped. No threads. The screws will not even start to go in them. Anyone else have this issue?I'm really sorry for this, all of the top mount screws are not tapped?
If Kbdfans doesn't offer a fix, anyone know what size the screws are so I could tap it myself?
Insane turn around time for a beautiful board. Will keep an eye out for anything else you design, Vulcan. ;D

just wondering, did you run into the screw hole issue mentioned previously in this thread? trying to determine if this affects all boards or just some.

Here's a bad photo of mine. I'm sure I don't have it set up exactly as I want it yet; this is my first ergo layout so I will need to keep tweaking it. It has lubed MX Blacks with Cherry stabs and Band-Aid mod.

Confused about what those little silver squares that came with your pcb are? Those squares are grounding pads. You need to stick them onto the squares on the pcb to help prevent your pcb from shorting.

KBDFans support comes through. After providing some pictoral proof--which was hard with a hole that small--a new top is being sent my way! Happy to share a story of great customer care.
imo typing experience and sound is too dampened with bottom foam (between pcb and case), so if you're experiencing something similar, taking that out helps a good bit. i don't mind the plate foam atm but might try taking that out to see the difference.
edit: i much prefer no plate foam as well.

Which switches are you using? With MX Blacks, it creates a really muted sound that I really like. I imagine that may diminish the experience of clickies though.
Honestly, when I heard that this was going to be a kbdfans production I wasn't too happy. Though after receiving it, I'm super happy with the quality. It seems they've come along way. Thanks so much for putting this together Vulcan, it's sick and I'm sure I can speak for everyone in saying thanks for the work you put in. <3Thank you so much for your support!
Anyone else still waiting on their board to ship? Looks like most people already have theirs.
Same here. I got an email today which says mine is on the way.Anyone else still waiting on their board to ship? Looks like most people already have theirs.
I ordered one in polycarbonate and mine hasn't shipped yet.

I also notice that people started walking away as soon as I announced that I will be working with KBDfans for Maja. Some people suggested me to look for other vendor.
But I disagree with them. I started working with KBDfans since the beginning. I trust them, they are a really nice partner, they care more on improveing. Maja is the proof.
Thank you for your trust.

Hi, will the plate files be released so we can get alternative plate materials cut?
Has anyone received their poly MAJA yet? Or received the shipping notification? I only see ppl flexing on me with their aluminum version so I don't know what the status on poly is D: Is it delayed?
Just built my poly with Alpacas!
That looks really nice! I had the same problem with the gap when I used to plate foam and the case foam. So once I took out the case foam the gap disappeared.
Damn, still no sign of it for me rn D:Has anyone received their poly MAJA yet? Or received the shipping notification? I only see ppl flexing on me with their aluminum version so I don't know what the status on poly is D: Is it delayed?
I just got mine right now! Just tested the PCBs, but it's my first polycarb board. it feels really dope. Can't wait to build it later!

ahhh I see, still kinda weird tho hahaha. I'll have to try and see if that affects the sound of the board. Thanks!

Yup I see the exact same thing on mine, even just with the case foam and no pcb foam. Doesn't necessarily affect the experience for me though.
How many stabilizers are needed for this board?5 2U stabs. I personally don't use any though.

Has anyone else had any issues with the default setup not allowing the 2nd layer to operate. I think it should be the key to the left of M but from default it comes up as delete key. Any suggestions?

There was some funkiness with that area of the hot-swap PCB in mine too when I first tested it. Just flash the default hex file (for the version you have, either soldered or hot-swap) from the VIA downloads page. Then you can use VIA to fix that area and add any other functionality you want.
It appears my unit is affected from the screw hole issue. Two holes are untapped and one isn't threaded correctly, all from the top section of the top mount. You should contact KBDfans to let them know.
Since this is my first mk, will this be a problem? Any suggestion?

Guys, How do you put the Maja into bios update mode for QMK Toolbox. I can't find any manual or instructions online. There's a reset button on the back of the PCB. It's a little circle. Once you have QMK toolbox open, the right hex file selected, and your PCB plugged in, hold down that button for a few seconds until QMK toolbox says it's been reset. Then you can flash it.

Hey, my maja came assembled. Is there a way to reboot and flash the keyboard with a space+b function? I cant get that shortcut to work for me.Disconnect usb.. hold esc while re plugging the usb
I was able to grab an extra from the KBDFans Black Friday sale. I appreciate the plate files being provided, but what is the plate thickness? Is it 1.5mm?Yes .. 1.5

I snagged one from the KBDfans sale but I didn't realize the PC boards have that inherent flaw of the gap :(Can you elaborate? What flaw?
Can you elaborate? What flaw?
Can you elaborate? What flaw?
If you look at the previous posts in this thread you will see that the PC version has a gap on the back end of the case where there aren't any screws. Some are severe while others not so much but the fact is the gap is there. Apparently this is an inherent flaw of just turning a design made mainly for aluminum to PC without changes. Could have been seen with protos but I don't know if they did it.
The pic isn't mine but yeah this is what you might expect on a PC Maja
I too was fearful of this but after receiving my PC Maja, I had no gaps and no issues like any reported in this thread. By chance, did you not pat down the foam that touches the back side of the PCB? I made sure that was as flat as possible before assembling the case since I saw some people report gaps.
Thanks Vulcan, the product came out really great!

I just wanted to take the time to post my findings on the Maja. This keyboard might just end up being the best board of 2020 and that is saying a lot. It is superbly well made, heavy/solid and feels of quality but that is not the thing that makes it. I suggest that anyone building theirs should build with Tactiles and don't worry about them being noisy, the Maja has the heft to deal with them. The Maja produces a wonderful positive base for good tactiles to perform at their best. Try lubing some pandas or kiwis for this board. Your typing will become less harsh, more fluid and positive. The end result is that you want to type even more than normal. The position of the keys is dare I say it, almost perfect.
The Maja has surprised me, I expected a good Ergo for the collection, but what I got was a daily driver.

Thank you for adding this perspective. I built my Maja with lubed pandas, and the board has been phenomenal. I'm fairly new to the hobby, so it's nice to know that this is an outlier in terms of build/sound quality vs. expectations. I was worried it was bias from upgrading from a Tofu, but it seems that this board is just really good :)
anyone having issues with their maja just resetting the key layout by it's self? twice in a row i've woken up in the morning and booted up my pc and my maja has either had the left ctrl and caps lock swapped for some reason (not swapped in via, just the input is swapped despite the key not being switched in via) or the entire board has reset back to the default key layout. noticed sometimes when unplugging and replugging that the rgb would freeze up on my board and then after replugging again, it would reset. getting pretty annoying, is my pcb defective?Try to resetting EEPROM with qmk toolbox.

I gave it a try and then reflashed using qmk, but now VIA doesnt recognize the device. i feel like the issue is related to via since opening via when the board was having issues would sometimes resolve it. any way to get it to work with via again though?
Just received and had been using,my Maja for a month but both hot-swap plates for one of my keys fell off, and the whole wiring is messed up and I cant find anyone locally to fix it do you think there is a way to get another Maja PCB it doesn't have to be hot-swapped i just need something to replace my broken one thanks! ( i already contacted kbd fans and they recommended fixing it myself but I don't have that many skills in spoldering) Anyway, i really enjoyed the MK hope you can get back to me.Have you check aftermarket on reddit? Or if you can wait.. kbdfans is planing to stockup more maja pcb
The Maja just came back in stock on KBDFans, if anybody wanted one and missed out.
