Mixing Cherry R4 with OEM keycaps?
« on: Thu, 11 July 2019, 03:54:40 »
I have a single Cherry R4 keycap, but all of my keycap sets are OEM profile- is there any way to mix them? Just eyeballing it makes it look like it might fit okay in R2 or R3 OEM, but I'm not sure on the exact specifications.

Well, here's an image of my HyperX Alloy FPS, equipped with their PBT-POM double-shot pudding style keycaps, they have OEM profile, and I've replaced 4 keycaps on R4 with OG Cherry double-shots, they have Cherry profile.

If you ask me, I would say, their tops sit 0,5-1 mm lower then the OEM ones. To me, it does not distracting at all, but it is noticable, and I can see why it would annoy some people. I recommend you trying it out by yourself, and see how it goes. OEM profiles never will be exactly the same, it would be more distracting if you have a Flico OEM set according to your image. My keycaps are closest to the Tai-Hao profile.
