Looks good, looking forward to a build stream or sound test at least ;)
I've seen updates for this project coming through on social media. I'm pretty keen to get my hands on one of these.
By "normal gaterons", assuming that's Red/Brown/Blue? If so, any consideration to Yellow?

If you are interested in the hobby then you're better off saving that money and buying an actual custom from well known members of the community whom have actual reputation to uphold.
How is this an interest check if you already know when you're selling it?IDK what could describe it better, I just wanted feedback to improve it before GB

I dont like the badge design or the way its protruding out. It would have looked way better if it was flush with the case. I dont think its too hard to achieve though. Its just a place holder cause u can take it out and insert a switch in the hotswap socket underneath the badge or use the other pcb option with a pre solderd knob.
Looks like another big company releasing a "spec sheet" product. Good on you for trying to release something more premium for a reasonable price, just hope you do a bit more research before you actually try to produce this. Why more research in what directions?

Yeah I will be getting one for sure, I would suggest a barebones kit for sure as a lot of the hobbyists have their own switches and keycaps. I would get a barebones lol so I am biased here. Other than that, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Watching this for sure. Was slightly disappointed that the GMMK Pro had a uhh mount with gaskets and bungled QMK support. Via out of the box is huge! K2 was my gateway into this world so I’m excited for this project!

C'mon dude, your gasket design is bad and your board is basically just a greatest hits of what has been popular in the last year or two. This feels like a low effort cash grab.

This is not reasonable at all. I like the design quite a bit, and the innovation is in the price point. There's only one other board competing with this one.

I don't get this at all. This board implements a ton of the community's most requested features and offers it at at price point that makes it accessible to more people.

None of the things wrong with the design would require increasing the price. In my opinion we should have higher expectations for an actual OEM.

You haven't actually listed anything wrong with the design and you can't articulate any of your issues. You make broad statements about them needing to do research and how people should have higher expectations. These are all vague. If you have reasonable suggestions, be specific about them.
This is essentially a clone of the GMMK Pro which was a ripoff of the Sat75, only it's $50 more. For what reason should anyone buy this over a GMMK Pro?
This is essentially a clone of the GMMK Pro which was a ripoff of the Sat75, only it's $50 more. For what reason should anyone buy this over a GMMK Pro?
? The GMMK Pro is $170, barebones. This is $150, with switches and keycaps.
Ah, I see where you're making your mistake. The GMMK Pro is currently sold out, and you can reserve one for $100. But you need to pay another $70 + shipping eventually.
As for your final point: what's the difference between a "buzzword laden cash grab" and "selling a product"? I don't understand this complaint at all. Another guy said the same thing, and it just doesn't make any sense to me. The GMMK Pro is popular right now for offering something that people want at a price which was previously unattainable. Especially for a board "in stock." (All right, maybe not. But at least it's not a group buy.) Keychron comes along and offers something even better and... that's a cash grab?
...
Well, it's better if you ignore the lack of an End key. Do other people not use that? I use it all the time. I just used it, just now. I would still get the GMMK.
they have actually been implementing feedback from their facebook group page for about a month to 2 months and decided to get more feedback from other sources.
They have changed several things so far to include the rotary encoder, the bezels on the case, colors and the brass weight.
Keychron 100% has been implementing feedback.

Thank you, as I already explained:
Yes this IC is pretty short, because Keychron itself have no clue about reddit or GH and asked me to help them out to push it out here. Thats why this "IC" is that close to the release. But even now I made a list with all suggested changes and will try to bring them trough before we will release.
The badge is awful, I would much prefer an extra key in a non rotary encoder version. Make the badge as invisible as possible.
That means I have to get the rotary encoder version.
What options are there for the encoder? Are you planning for encoder knobs matching the case colour?
Based on your previous designs, please avoid any type of branding on the case and on the weights.
Transparent/milky plate option for rgb shine through would be good.
Big thumbs up for hot swap ISO option.

3 1u's and not 2 1.5u's? I guess their pcb manu has started already. So much for asking for feedback...

Hasnt and beside some people most lf 3x1u as far as our survey on facebook and discord showed it. But we consider as written to do a 2x 1.5u in second batch to fill everyone needs
Then why not include it in the first release? You moved your sked anyways, why not maximize the time and add those features?im guessing they've already got a batch in production with this layout.3 1u's and not 2 1.5u's? I guess their pcb manu has started already. So much for asking for feedback...

Would love an explanation since we changed kinda everything people requested beside the bottom row 2x1.5u which only some wanted but we have this in our mind for other pcbs in the future but the surveys in our groups voted for 3x1u

Any Bluetooth/wireless capability?
Since this is technically an IC, I would definitely hop on the pre-order if it has reliable Bluetooth (am using modded K6 now and the Bluetooth is quite good), I know its not exactly friendly with QMK/VIA but I actually would prefer Bluetooth over that (please don't flame me).Any Bluetooth/wireless capability?
No bluetooth because bluetooth and via arent friends right now. But Keychron is working on it for a bluetooth version maybe next year

Will the ISO version also be hot swappable?
Looks interesting, just please, for us all, make the USB-C connection on the back left or back center. Actually, anywhere except the left side of the keyboard. (edit: Ok, I think I see it on the back left in the exploded view render, thank you for that!)

To gather feedback before this item goes into production? Got a lot of good feedback Keychron and I took seriously and implemented and already made suggestion for comming batches and features we wanna support like multilayout with 2x1.5u, split keys and solder PCB
The minimum u had to buy would be a new PCBwhy is this here on geekhack?

I would like to know if 2x1.5u will only be possible for future batches, or when I buy the first batch, I can do 2x1.5u without buying any extras?

Will be in stock until Q2 gets released (maybe 3-4 months, but this will be announced pretty early so nobody misses out)
This looks really good!
What's this layout called BTW?
I've had 75% before but couldn't stand how there was no space between main row & extra buttons on right.
Keychron announced even to me, they will give free USB C coiled aviator cables for free for the first Batch and this will be buyable as addon too, here the pic:Show Image(https://i.ibb.co/tbsvBQL/207136054-562450578251833-783867067496881648-n.png)
Since chips are still a Problem the first batch will be kinda limited since all chips are gone and after that Keychron announced to me to increase the price about 10USD to be able to buy more chips and when chip shortage is not a problem anymore to lower it again as long this happens meanwhile Q1 is live.
Review Units should be shipped at the 10th of July so reviewers have about 2 1/2 weeks to review it before the pre order starts. I will publish a document with each reviewer and link to all videos when this is available

Is there enough time for reviewers feedback to be taken into consideration and make the needed changes before the board is live?

If we talk about small changes yes there is enough time, but if there is a huge change this would be very hard to do. We did our best in the last 7 months do design it at best efforts. If there are any changes that would have a huge impact we have to see if we delay the Q1 or just sell it as it is and take all changes into the Q2

No. I am not going to do their homework for them. There are countless examples of how to properly implement a gasket mount. This is bare minimum level research imo. We should not be encouraging OEMs to come in here with half baked products and expect the community to fix it for them so that they can make money.

Gotcha, so the kit (169USD) includes Keychron produced stabs that are similar to GMK?
What about the barebones kit?
Also is there any news about configurable layouts, or will the hotswap PCB only support the layout shown in the renders? A lot of people in the community enjoy options like split space and split backspace so these are nice to have, even if it required a solder PCB.
Same for barebone and its hotswap only, so only the shown layout is supported atm. Keychron things about adding a solder PCB with all options later.

Thanks for clearing that up. Plenty of other hotswap boards have multiple layout support so that's why I had to ask.
I'll be waiting until there's some more layout options before jumping on board.
What do you mean by Q2, is it a other version like 65% or just a next version of Q1?
So if they start making Q2 they will stop making Q1 or am I just that stupid and cant read?
If they stop selling the Q1 the moment they start selling the Q2 it'll be kinda sad imo, I might not buy the Q1 when it launch, but if it'll have positive reviews then I might consider it. And then boom, Q1 is out, only option is Q2 which I probably wouldn't buy because I'm interested in it mostly because I was debating on buying GMMK Pro but it turned out pretty incomplete so...So if they start making Q2 they will stop making Q1 or am I just that stupid and cant read?
From my understanding is each variation of the Q keyboard will be run separately. So Q1 first, than Q2 etc etc. They plan to do multiple layouts. However, once they move on to the different layout the layout before will not be available. At least that's how I understand the explanation.
does the 96% version of it will be released the same day as Q1? if not, have any idea when (1 month, 6 months)? What do you mean by Q2, is it a other version like 65% or just a next version of Q1?

are there any plans for maybe a translucent case?
I had a keychron and then sold it. The specs vs how it felt were two different things. Maybe this will be different? :|
Need bluetooth connection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have to agree with previous feedback - the arrows need to be aligned with the rest of the board
It was answered before : as this is a keyboard driven by qmk / via, wireless connections is not possible (as these firmware do not handle them). Maybe on a next iteration without qmk / via
QMK can handle bluetooth connections fine with certain chips.
The battery life is just not really that great since QMKs battery management is kinda ass.
Just VIA won't work with bluetooth.
I am interested in getting a hot swap board, and was going to get the GMMK Pro, but it just seems like they cut every corner with that one when it comes to QC.

I've owned a few Keychron boards and I'm just gonna say you better buckle up when it comes to QC ;D

Oh, this makes me a bit anxious. It couldn't be that bad, could it? :blank:
I hope that you can change the gasket design before release. It looks like those side ones are going to do nothing but make the board stiffer.Forgive me for being dumb and asking, but can’t you just not install them?
I hope that you can change the gasket design before release. It looks like those side ones are going to do nothing but make the board stiffer. If you think those will make it to stiff just dont install them. There are some gaskets pre installed and u will have enough extra gaskets to put on urself to hit ur personal preferences
I don't understand the point of leaving the gap above the right arrow key? There is clearly enough space for another key. Leaving it empty just makes it look less appealing
I know this is coming up soon, but do you know what colors they'll have on launch?Black, Grey, Blue and Navy. E-White is going to come later.
Any plans to release a stl file or anything so we can make our own covers for the top right space? If not I’m sure we could figure it out, but the easier the better?
Did I miss something when we can order the keyboard or is there a delay?
The sound test is not making me optimistic. I hope there was something seriously wrong with your recording and that reviewers and creators can do it justice, somehow.
The sound test didn't really sound like a gasket mounted keyboard with foam. I will wait for other people to build this. Hopefully some one can make this sound good because the price point for a aluminum gasket is pretty attractive.
!!!PRICE ANNOUNCEMENT & CHANGE!!!
Barebone 139USD
Fully assembled with double shot ABS keycaps and switches 169USD
That's entirely my fault; I simply messed up the exchange rate and just put 150€ as 150USD. We've now agreed to reduce the price Keychron originally requested for the barebone from 150USD to 139USD, and for the fully assembled from 179USD to 169USD bringing the fully assembled price closer to the original price I called out.
I'm really sorry for that and I know when people are angry about it but it was a honest mistake.
Looking forward to the testers but I am confused about the colors.Blue got dropped, Navy is now in, colors where updated but page still wip: https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-Q1?variant=39406902444121
There seems to be listed a Blue and a Navy Blue but only one blue in the marketing... Was this dropped?
Thank you!

File this under 'apologies that didn't age well'
Why did you change the pricing on the keychron website? It's 149 for barebones when you said 139. This thing is raising a lot of red flags. It seems like you just promise one thing and deliver another, while claiming to entertain feedback.
If I buy a wired Q1 now, could you estimate how much an upgrade to a wireless Q1 would be?I cant, im sorry.
On his feedback Keychron will provide more thicker foam as an free extra in each Q1 box so people can foamed it more if they want.
i really really appreciate the sound test .. i am not exaggerating when i say it's one if not the best sound test i have ever seen.. showing so many options giving a nice overview ... :thumb:
i was hesitant to say this because i did not want to discourage companies from doing these type of sound tests in the future..
But i found the sound to be less then desirable to my ears.. in comparison or as reference this is a sound i would like to hear..
check out the Geon Frog TKL Andy V Nguyen
i would like the Keychron PCB in that board hahah.. please do a pcb that fits that board.. because i don't know of many RGB pcb's with via/gmk for a tkl hahah
Having said all that the last sound test sounds a bit better not a Geon Frog level better.. and i would be willing to pay a bit more for a Keychron that comes closer to the Frog TKL..
As i need to import the Keychron Q1 to The Netherlands i need to add 21% + at least 11% customs fees over the total price that's including the shipping fees..
Making this board more expensive and thus i need to be a bit more critical.. if there were EU vendors that sell if for the same price.. it would be an instant buy and well worth the modding or any sound issues.. as it's a nice package with the knob..
one question : on their site i see i switch to go from apple to win mode .. i don't understand this switch if it's a via/qmk board why does one need this switch?
and if it is still going to be there .. will it programmable say for instance to turn of the lighting ??

Candykeys will probably get some afaik but I orderd multiple keychron boards on my own and never had to pay the VAT for germany I paid the 99USD for the board + Shipping thats it.
The switch will allow u to swap physically between layers so with QMK/VIA u have 4 layers overall, this switch splits it into 2x 2 layers so Switch on position 1 is Layer 1 and from layer 1 u can go into layer 2 by keybind.
Switch on Position 2 is layer 3 and u can go into layer 4 by keybind. Hope you got what I was trying to explain if not maybe this photo will explain it: https://imgur.com/a/QSfWteq
So the switch just changes what the default layer is? Can you still use the other two layers, or are you limited to just two at a time (in any given mode)?
So... The strength of this keyboard seems to be in it's value for the price. However, it seems that the shipping, at least for the barebone version, is $30 to the United States. That means $180 for the barebone. I'm not sure if that was intended, but $180 does not seem to be a good deal anymore at least in the US. I was ready to buy it as soon as it kit was released, but I kinda feel backstabbed by the rather absurd shipping fee. Very unfortunate.

This ain't Amazon, international shipping isn't cheap. $30 is already an incredibly respectable fee if it's shipped from China. I'm assuming you've never bought boards from non-US vendors before?
Is there any word on whether or not the Q1 will be able to fit MT3 profile keycaps? Ordinarily, I would assume there would be no issue, but I’ve read that some boards can’t quite fit them, and from the pictures and vids I’ve seen, the inner edge of the chassis seems prety close to the keycaps.

I can try that I have dev/tty mt3 here
edit: Tested mods and they fitted and worked without a problem
I have the same ones on another keychron keyboard, but these are the pbt caps. The ABS caps are actually too wide and will get stuck on the key stroke, so be careful with that. They might be too wide for the Q1 as well.Is there any word on whether or not the Q1 will be able to fit MT3 profile keycaps? Ordinarily, I would assume there would be no issue, but I’ve read that some boards can’t quite fit them, and from the pictures and vids I’ve seen, the inner edge of the chassis seems prety close to the keycaps.
I can try that I have dev/tty mt3 here
edit: Tested mods and they fitted and worked without a problem

Maybe, but it's specifically with the MT3 ABS key caps, as the MT3 pbt don't have this problem.I have the same ones on another keychron keyboard, but these are the pbt caps. Could maybe be a problem since other Keychron boards are build with north facing leds as far as I know?

No E-coating so price will stay the same!

Nice!! What's the process if it's not e-white? How does it differ in terms of feel/texture and durability of the white finish?
Also, what's the ETA on the plastic version of the Q1?
