Interested! Can you do a render from the top to see the layout better?
that's an LZ Ergo?
LZ Ergo has been my primary driver at work for the last 2 years and on multiple occasions I've considered using my extra Ergo PCB and designing my own case/plate around it. Here are some thoughts. They are my opinion and I do not claim to speak for others!
Layout/usability:
- Consider increasing the split angle, or increasing the horizontal spacing between the left and right clusters. Compared to the Microsoft Natural and the Cherry MX5000, the LZ Ergo already has the smallest separation. Individual users vary, but I could use a bigger split.
- Consider putting the Alt keys next to the spacebar, similar to the LZ Ergo. Not having to curl my thumbs as much is one of the things I love about the Ergo.
- I don't see Lock key indicators in the render. I assume there are plans to add some?
- I like the 7 degree incline.
- USB via a daughterboard is a great idea. The USB port is probably the most fragile component on most custom boards. Being able to replace that component without desoldering an entire board is something I appreciate :)
Aesthetics:
- I like the corners.
- I like the F-key layout more than the Ergo. Have you considered slightly increased horizontal spacing? That F5 key is a little awkward. Not sure that level of isolation is necessary.
- I don't like the way the top shell covers the bottom. I'm not a fan of the way the LZ Ergo handles it either. I'd rather have a seam line than distinctively different tops and bottoms.
- Consider offering anodized plates if you go with aluminum. I hate the reflective silver showing up in the gaps between my keys on my black Ergo (with BoW caps).
All that said, I like what I see. The Alt keys are the only deal breaker (again, just speaking for myself).

If a bigger split happened, that would be cool. This really got me thinking about negative space on keyboards. I don't really have many dealbreakers on either list.
Who else hits the alt key via curling their middle finger?
not that cost is really a barrier for people anymore
WOW... OK quick update,Great work mate!
I've had over 100 people show interest in less than 48 hours so this will be going ahead, I'll spend some time this weekend on a fuller interest check to fill out details more.
a few FAQ answers in the mean time.
Q: Will the PCB be QMK / VIA compatible.
A: There is no reason it shouldn't be possible, I'm using a fairly standard ATMEGA32U4 controller, I'm not 100% sure how to make it happen but I will reach out to some people for help in the coming days.
Q: Support for Split Backspace / Split Shift etc..?
A: The plates and PCB's will support split backspace and split right shift, the PCB will be ANSI and ISO compatible, and I plan to have separate plates for each.
Q: Any other bottom row layouts available?
A: I was planing on a fixed bottom row, but there have been a few well reasoned requests, so I will play around with things to make the blow options available for the bottom row layout.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/goLJhir.png)
Q: Can I get 'X' Colour.
A: I will probably run a poll at a future date to select the colour, but so you know, I am trying to keep costs down as far as possible, so I will only be offering one colourway.
Q: Who will be the US/EU/AU proxy?
A: At this time, I am handling everything myself, I'm open to using a US proxy to make import and shipping cheaper for NA, but nothing has been arranged as of yet.
Q: NE Winkey Avail?
A: No. There are already 8 keys available on the bottom row which is fairly standard, the WK blockers are an aesthetic choice by me, and a second top option would raise the per board price for everyone else.
I may revise the F-Key layout once I get the prototype, but I kinda like it as is for now.
Anyway, thank you so much for the interest guys and gals, I'm really looking forward to things moving along.

That's a deal-breaker for me. Best of luck with the GB. :thumb:
Looks Good! :cool:The v90 has been blessed by the man himself
Also interested in winkey.OP has already mentioned that there will be no WK layout. There are also 8 keys on the bottom row, and qmk compatiblity i think.
I neeeeeeed this! I don't even like tkl's but this one....gotta have it. Go with the Pink/Purple, Grey/Purple, Black/Red and a Black/Tiffany blue. Brass weight?
Proto next week! Very hype I cant wait to see how it looks irl... my wrists already feel relieved plus if theres a purple option I was already in for the go whatever colour hahaI neeeeeeed this! I’ve not released too much info yet, I’m hoping to get the proto in the next week or so and I’ll have a big update to this thread. Thanks for the interest.
I'd pay good money for a "southpaw" version of this, with the nav cluster on the left.
Flexerman, when you get the proto could you please kindly consider whether it might work slightly better to bring the two ergo halves closer together so the center “void space” is a little thinner. If you look at the Alice, it seems left and right are about 0.5cm closer together.
Many thanks for your consideration!

Having used a few different ergo styles in my opinion having them a little closer together feels more natural - but perhaps you've had a different experience given your (presumably rhetorical) question?
In any case, my request was just for flex to look into and consider it, not to do it. This is an IC, after all.
I wasn't trying to be a jerk - sorry if it came across that way. Me personally, most of the ergos I *have* tried are too close together, to the point where I just prefer split keyboards, so making something closer together would make this less appealing to me. And since ICs are ideally new products, I just didn't understand the suggestion to make another Alice. That's all. Again, didn't mean to be a jerk if it seemed that way.

Huge update coming this weekend, probably going to run this in November.
Unfortunately the Prototype has been delayed till next week as I've changed the base to Anodised Alu to better reflect what the GB Participants will receive. I've had my shipping notice for it, so fingers crossed that the UK customs don't hold it too long.
For now... have some more colour option renders.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/XDzw6VH.png)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/RypDkXc.png)

The new render has a logo now? Can we have a closer look at the logo?
I've updated the first post...You've really gone above an beyond.. Looking forward to the start of the GB
auction :(
I love the gunmetal version with all three accent colors. And ISO :thumb:
An option to split the right 2.75u Space into 1u+1.75u would be great.
I know it’s not ideal for a majority of people, but the plate files and the PCB files will be available after the GB so people can make what they want in any material they want. :thumb:
https://discord.gg/A26zz6zIt works, thanks boss.
Here's a new one
amazing colors mate. shipping to USA is ~60 USD?
amazing colors mate. shipping to USA is ~60 USD?That sounds about right, I need to see how many sell for the final price, as I'll negotiate the best rate I can. if there are enough I'll try and get a proxy involved too.
This says when the group buy opens, but not when it closes. Given that it is a raffle, it doesn't close when it hits 50. How long will you leave the raffle open for?
man that aubergine looks mighty fine :thumb: can't wait!Aubergine, the endgame dream.
This Keyboard Only Winkeyless???
A limited number of full brass bases are being produced, more on this before the GB date.
Are you planning some renders with your colour options. The green looks really good if it remains dark but I would fear that it ends up a lot lighter.

Under a month to go!
Any countdown timer avail?

This looks like a problem with Discord - there is a 100 server limit. This is one reason of several why I don't like relying on Discord for updates...
What do people use as alternate methods of communication similar to discord?

You're not in on the secret Fax machine groupchat?

Oh man. An Alice shaped board that's actually more ergonomically focused. Color me intrigued. I'll definitely be trying to get in on this.

Did I miss the raffle signup?
I might have missed it, but other than the date of GB start, has the time of day & timezone been published? I'm ecstatic for this!

how can one choose between the teal and aubergine colors? wow amazing work on this!
Oh man. We can mix. ****. That's gonna slow me down. Time to spec things out. Good luck everyone!
Think a black top with red bottom would be pretty epic.
Will there be additional PCBs for sale? And I'm assuming there will be extras in case of DoA.
