Switchmod.net's Sandstorm tracking numbers are going out right now, 1 week early. The sets will begin moving out on May 11. This is done a week in advance so you have ample time to change your addresses, something I feel might be necessary while many of you are forced to move to different areas during quarantine.

Hey guys, good news-bad news.

Good News:
I've started processing shipping today. The sandstorm base kits have arrived, and those orders will be shipped as soon as possible, with many going out tomorrow.

Bad News:
After inspecting the boxes and counting my stock, I've found that the sandstorm extension and spacebar kits weren't found and upon further digging, are delayed without my knowledge. I'm trying my best to get these over to me. Until further notice shipping on these sets has been delayed. GMK has been immediately contacted and we are working this out.

I realize it was incredibly foolish of me to promise shipping so early, and I apologize for that. Having opened my GMK Sandstorm boxes today, to not find any of the auxillary kits I ordered was very stressful, and to be frank, life's pretty stressful right now. I'll do my best to keep this thread updated.

Hey, good news, my base kit just arrived (I ordered from mykeyboard) +even though it uses the new trays, which were delivered broken, the keycaps actually stayed in place :thumb:

If 1 in 10 new trays are replaced by a JTK plastic tray, I worry even that aspect falls short. I figure they'll get better with more iterations but it seems like beta testing coulda been done in house vs on GMK Sandstorm.

8008 came in the new trays too. They're awesome! Who cares if they got a lil dinged up in shipping, they're recyclable and not a huge waste of plastic and silly shape like the stupid old ones.

Regarding trays: just like the plastic trays were improved, these will be improved and refined. The reality is that most people don't care about the packaging and throw the trays as soon as they open the box. The new trays are lighter, fit more keycaps and it should be easy for GMK to improve them.

If I wanted a good plastic tray to store them I'd rather had my caps on one of those enormous JTK trays. Otherwise, I'm team potatoes.

Although the quality of these shipments is acceptable considering regular industrial applications & conditions (according to a very strict Cherry guidelines manual that we keep) we understand that for the hobbyist community the quality observed may not have been enough.

Through this, we would like to reinforce our special care regarding the hobbyist enthusiasts. However we would like to take this opportunity to clarify that the packing procedures and current technologies available in the market cannot possibly yield 100% flawless, replicable and exact results for every shipment, and sometimes we'll just send some boxes to random continents.

While we take great care of our cardboard boxes and already broken keycap trays, technical variables such as the differences in color between brown and purple between runs can be controlled only to a certain extent and slightly differ between the production runs.

As a result, if examined under microscope and macro lens, it is sometimes possible to observe imperfections and variations in our shipments. This is because our shipments are meant to be observed at a viewing distance from Saturn, which translates to normal usage conditions. This time around we understand that the variations on a couple packages didn't meet pleasing characteristics to the naked eye at close.

We are constantly researching and looking for new methods and technologies to be implemented in our facilities, such as having individuals who arent colorblind packing the boxes, as the hobbyist community is a great part of our operation. The passion and support is very much appreciated.

Upon starting fulfillment on Wednesday, May, 13th, Swichmod found out that there was an anomaly with his order, as some Sandstorm kits were missing and they had received instead some GMK First Love base kits. We immediately contacted GMK and Switchmod proceeded to do an inventory on what exactly they had received and what was missing.

We also contacted Cannon Keys, who assisted us and confirmed that the number of First Love sets received corresponded to the ones that ILUMKB, who was coincidentally the SEA vendor for both First Love and Sandstorm had ordered and was supposed to receive the bulk shipping with both of those sets also this week.

As both shipments consisted of the same number of boxes and contained GMK Sandstorm sets, my assumption was that when picking up the boxes some of them were mixed up and unfortunately shipped to the wrong vendor.

Finally, on Saturday, May, 16th, we confirmed that ILUMKB had received Switchmod’s sets and got a follow up with GMK, who had already started to sort out this mishap.

We were waiting for this confirmation and having everything sorted out with GMK first before doing any further updates. However, that hasn't been possible.


We are working closely with GMK and as soon as we can provide new estimated shipping dates for the remaining US orders, they will be posted here.


I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to all of you guys.

There are still pending orders, however Fedex just straight up lost the last box of base sets so I can't get them out. I've been trying for weeks to get a hold of GMK for a resolution and just yesterday they've confirmed the sets are lost. I'll be doing a tally of what's lost so I can get a credit from GMK, then I will begin issuing refunds to all pending orders.

I really am very sorry. I wish I could do more.

At this time the orders will all be refunded in full, and then open queues will be established for items that people still want from their orders. This will last for 2 weeks, then all addons will be listed in stock on site for unclaimed items.

idk why it's popular but it's always been popular and desired on mechmarket (maybe because it's nice and clean, or made by zambumon who has made really popular sets) like people still buy it for flipped prices even now, while most gmk sets are selling for at or around retail.
