Huh, had no clue about this guy, but after reading a bit about him, it's obvious the world of technology would be completely different had it not been for him...

I only watched a little, but the video from the article is so awesome. Chock full of retro tech feedback, design, sound and production.

Doug was critically involved in the invention of many of the things we take for granted in HCI and was hugely influential at both SRI and PARC (by proxy). Quite glad he was recognized with a Turing Award while he was still alive and active.. It sounds like Alzheimers took him much earlier than his passing :(

It's always sad when great inventors die. It makes it so that they can't make anymore cool stuff for us. :^(
