TaehaTypes Build Stream:
Things to note:
1. This is a sample and is therefore a little rough around the edges. This will not be the case in the final GB
2. The plate was rushed and there are gaps in places there shouldn’t be, potentially affecting the sound. This has since been updated and won’t be the case in the final GB
3. The PCB is white. However the final PCB will be Black

Nice, looking forward to this board development, but how about sand-blasted instead of brush brass?

Not sure pc counts as a weight material. My understanding is weight material must be denser than the case material.

This is true, but I wanted to offer PC as a weight material not to add weight (because it won't of course), but to give people the option to choose exactly what they want. Some people might want a full PC keeb, some people might want a full Alu keeb.

Hope that clarifies my reasoning for choosing PC

Thanks for starting this IC. I'm very interested. Based on my experience with Doro67 which has a thick 3mm integrated plate, the undesirable hollow noise can be easily fixed with case foam.

Some suggestions for improvements are:
1. Please consider widening side bezels to match top and bottom for a more balanced look
2. Would be great if you can squeeze in underglow to hotswap PCB, but I understand this can be a challenge
3. Would be great if you can offer a custom case foam for noise management
4. Additional options for different case colors and finishes would be great (within reasonable variety, of course) (+1 for Navy)
5. Please make sure stabilizer cut-out accommodates 3rd party stabs like C3 Equalz, Everglide, etc. since some boards have had some fit issues
6. I'm ok with rounded edges as it adds a bit of retro feel, but not too round please

Questions/Requests:
1. Will the PCB have ESD protection?
2. Can you provide renders for bottom casing with underglow?
3. What's the typing angle?

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to put this together! Comments like these will help me greatly, as they will make me think about certain things before they become a problem (or before its too late to fix). Here are the answers to your suggestions/questions;

1. Will Consider (I'll give it a go and see how it looks)
2. Will try my best
3. There will 100% be custom case foam to dampen unwanted sounds
4. Will try my best to include a variety of colors that most people would want
5. Will try my best (and will make samples to check for these things - so it won't be an issue)
6. I'm personally happy with how rounded it is at the moment, and I think there's a good balance between standing out but not being obnoxious

1. 100% will have ESD protection
2. More renders will be provided after the smaller details of the case have been finalised
3. The typing angle is 6 degrees, I personally wanted something in between 7 and 5 so that's why

Feel free to ask more/let me know if I wasn't clear about certain ones.
Thanks again!  :D

New update... the case is no longer using an integrated plate! So as you may already be thinking, the name is no longer suited to the case, so I have created a second form for you guys to vote on which name you think is best.

Thanks for the feedback so far

I'm going to try my best to add as many plate options as possible (that are reasonable). But to be 100% honest, I doubt we will be able to do a carbon fibre plate

Of course! :)
Any chance for the hotswap version to support stepped capslock (even as stepped-only)? It would be a rara avis, the hotswap fans are always left behind when it comes to stepped capslock.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the lack of updates.
First of all the discord server was deleted for some reason... I will come up with a solution (worst case scenario i will just make another one)
Second; not much has changed however I have given the design to KBDfans and we have gathered all the info to design the PCB, not much will be done at this point as Chinese New Year approaches. Just know that I am still working on this.

Thanks,
Dion

I really, really, *really* would love to see this keeb come to life, perhaps with KBDFans help.

And I really, really, *really* would love to see that little square above the right arrow key be an actual button, not just a light-up accent. :)

Make it have a little bit of click, like a New Nintendo 3DS face button. :)

I don't really have an estimated time for the GB anymore unfortunately as I have been SUPER busy with other stuff. But I am making minor adjustments to get it sent out for the quote, then the next step is to get the PCB designed, and move forward from there.

Sorry about the inactivity and lack of updates though

It will be FCFS, but we will decide on a fair number depending on the amount of interest there is. Thanks!

Somehow the rounded edges and the proportions remind me of the Cherry G80-11800 and 11900.

Do you have a render of the internals? What does the plate look like, and where are the mounting points?

sorry, potentially nooby question here - if the pcb doesn't have per key rgb, does that mean that the square won't illuminate a coloured light?

just wondering before I fill in that new pcb form :)

It will still light up, but you wont be able to control it through VIA (a software with a user interface). However I may be able to work something out if there is enough interest

Layout is my preferred layout for 75% but not too big on the smoothed/rounded edges. Probably a pass for me.

If you have been in the discord server you would know that we have been discussing what we should do with the logo, as some people have suggested that it needs to be changed slightly. So I decided to make a quick form to see what would be the best decision/way of going about it.

The logo has been decided as "Updated Font 1"
You can check the "Renders" section to see how it looks

For now, the main thing we need to be finished is the PCB. Once this is finished I will be able to give you a finalised price prediction, and the GB will progress much quicker.

Thanks!

Just a quick post to keep you guys up to date with everything that's going on;
1. The samples have been made however the brass weights haven't been finished yet and the Burgundy sample wasn't the correct colour (which is the one Taeha Types will be building)
2. The PCB samples are done
3. The packaging sample is being made
4. The case/PCB foam is being designed/made

So once the brass weights have been finished, and the packaging + foam (should'nt take long at all) are done, the sample will be sent out to Taeha Types for the build stream.
In the meantime I will finish off all the things related to the numpad, and potentially work on the product pages so that once the build stream is finished we can progress with the group buy ASAP!
(I don't want to make any promises, but I would estimate that this will take around a week)

Thank you all for your patience along the way, I know its taken quite a while, but we are very close

Will this board support non-OEM keycaps like MT3, SA, KAT, etc? I've recently installed a set of MT3 keycaps in my Keychron Q1, which catch against the frame, so I'm on the lookout for a new 75% board (as I really like the keycaps). Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere.

Is the intention to make an ISO compatible hotswap version, or would it just be the solder version that's ISO compatible? The options for ISO hotswap boards are extremely limited, so I'm wondering if I should just learn how to solder if I want a really nice custom mechanical keyboard.

Hope all is going well with the prototype. I'm looking forward to seeing the Taeha Types livestream.
