If we only need a limited number of these keys for a couple people I can ask if SP can cut us a deal. I have absolutely no idea if they would do something like that, but considering what this group buy is going to cost it *might* be possible.

PS: who can help me get an 1800 board *wink wink nudge nudge*
I'd loan one but shipping from UK and back would be a bit steep :o

is it possible to add front print to the print screen (should be sys rq in the front) and pause (should be break) in the front?

shouldn't be too expensive and makes the sets look MUCH better.

also, since this is getting different mods, u should make sure it all matches unlike the valetine set that had 2 different pause and pause/break
I will do my best to make this happen.
ty sir. if it does, i'll put in my order.

that's not how it works.

orders get closed, everybody pays then it starts. since SP needs to know exactly how much to make.

Yes, I'm aware.  Maybe I didn't word it correctly.  I'm asking if there is enough orders to close and get started.  We're not really saving money by getting more orders at this point.

There is even a vague possibility that these might be made by GMK, which would mean genuine Cherry legends, which a lot of people would like.  Hence something else that we are waiting for is the interest check with GMK at the moment.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I already cut the time in half ending it in the start of February instead of middle/end of March. The point of ending later was because people spent a lot of money around the holidays and extending it gives more people the opportunity to participate. I know keyboard and key cap collecting is a selfish hobby, but think about all the people that spent money on presents for family and friends and also want to participate in this group buy.

You wouldn't save money by ending early either. Think about it, there are about 200 sets ordered with an expectation of seeing an invoice in Feb, and budgetting for that. You end and bill early and people will drop out, you slide back tiers and pay more. Nobody wins.

Just be patient. The timeline has been in the op for a while now.

I am going to try and get the new color finalized and some kind of prototype created. Now that everything should be simmered down from the holidays I will get in touch with Melissa at SP and get some various questions answered.

So someone put in the following order:
Quote
12/13/2012 20:41:00`12`12`12221`12`International - Small Flat Rate Box ($17)
So I'm going to erase it, and if this is your order you want to put it in correctly this time. It was one of two orders that did not include a base set.

Also concerning the center stemmed caps lock, I think I will put the TOX on GX with the base kit, and the GX on TOX with the toxic modifier kit. That will only increase each set by around $2.50 depending on what tier the modifiers hit. Thanks to Shadovved for the suggestion.

So are you still going to do this? I'm trying to figure out what all I want to order. Stepped caps lock would be nice but I really like the idea of bundling them with the other sets. I really like these colors!

Not to rock the boat but out of curiosity did anyone give any thought to TOX WASD keys? I just thought those would be pretty cool since it stands out so well. I'm kinda new here so I never saw this when it was in IC. Thanks for putting this together
I stay busy with work and family these days, but I'm still around, lurking.

I have had a couple requests for a compatibility kit for noppo choc mini keyboards and I know there is an interest check for a Klaxon version. Should I try to add in that compatibility kit to this group buy or let it run separate?

Also I could add a gamer pack to this and just PM/email everyone to see if they want to add it on. What should be included in it besides W, A, S, and D keys?

I didn't read this in the thread, it might be common knowledge to the more experienced but if someone could help me out I would appreciate it.
Are these going to be thin or thick double shots, I have a set of WYSE thins and I'm wondering if these will be comparable to those or will they be the thicker style.

Everything from Signature Plastics is thin. Most group buys here are from Signature Plastics, but imsto sells some Cherry Replica PBT keys that are thick. There is a new company GMK that is manufacturing Cherry keys again and those are thick ABS double shots. Chances are they will not sell in the "low" quantities that we will want to order for this group buy so Signatures Plastics it is.

After more experience with keys there isn't much difference between the thick and thin keys besides the sound they make, and that too depends on if you are using them with MX Reds, Blues, Blacks, etc. Once either one is shiny neither will probably wear through to a hole completely and will last just as long as another. Personally I think I like the texture of SP keys enough to like them more than the thicker Cherry (GMK) keys which has a finer texture that is harder to feel a difference on. Cherry keys may even get shine faster than SPs but that is a bold claim that I have no science on to prove or refute.

Seems like you have a pretty big order going here.  Just curious, how many would you need for GMK to consider you?

That is the number I remember being quoted in the interest check thread. Certain things they said they might consider around quantities of 300, but with an order like ours we have some items not even over 100 so it would probably not work. I seriously doubt the prices would be cheaper than Signature Plastics anyways. Not to mention international shipping and import fees, although my $800 of Lambda keys didn't have me paying any tax, a $12k-16k order of keycaps probably would.

According to the GMK IC, 400 MOQ is needed. (correct me if i am wrong though)

Cool, thanks.

You mentioned earlier that GMK is thicker ABS than SP.  Do you know where I can get a set of their keys.  I'm just curious and want to try the thick ABS.  I tried the thick PBT from Feng and like it.

Thanks Daniel

Any old set of Cherry double shots are the same as what GMK is selling, so any white on black, white/beige, dolch, etc set will let you see what they are like.

This is no longer a deal breaker for me.  I placed an order for this set for my Poker.  However, even though I would have to drop the modifier kit :) I would order a choc mini kit if it were available.
