Just before I get on to this topic I would say hello to everybody here. I have been a lurking Geekhack for almost a year before taking the jump to make an account.
*sorry it's so long winded but I want to tell you all about this keyboard*
Anyways, about 1 1/2 years ago or about that, I bought my first Model M, a 1991 1391401 from an online seller and I think I got if about $40 but than as most people do I decided to get another (At one point I had 5 but now on 4) so I had a look at what this seller was selling and he was selling a few more so I bought another clicky 1391401 for about $61. However to my dismay when it arrived, it was a Lexmark! :faint: I quickly rang up the seller and turns out he got the keyboards mixed up. Anyway, The seller was really nice and he sent me another. I had no idea about the condition of this board but when it arrived I was overjoyed. I got the keyboard out of the packaging and was surprised to see they keyboard in as new condition and this time it was a 1391401. I flipped over the back and found something intriguing. The keyboard was made on the 12th of March 1987. I though that's pretty early. So I tried to submit my kbd info on clickykeyboards.com but as always it does not submit. But then I found out that my keyboard was the 2nd oldest 1391401 on the DB. Definitely worth the $61. I cleaned it up and I replaced my 1991 keyboard. I tried it and it felt kind of different. It felt stiffer and pingier, a lot like earlier Model F's and 1390301's. and I tried the 1991 and 1987 side by side and the difference was fairly clear. So can anybody concur with me on this? This might the case with other early 1391401 keyboards. Also I read somewhere that the Model M 1391401 started production about the 17 or 18 of Feburary of 1987. Maybe they had an overstock of 1391301 parts.
