Hello everyone!

I'm back with another SA single run set, this time I'm pushing forward a space themed project of mine.

The keyset was inspired in the Apollo Program from NASA and I fell like the theme should be explored like this.

It's is going to be available for purchase by summer, 2016.

In case you're worried about prices, the set is gonna be very affordable due to the fact that many molds I'm using already exist.

Thanks for coming by, let me know what you think.

Godspeed,

MiTo

Dedicated to mom, dad and the dog. Not Jenny. Jenny is a *****.

Godpseed Hype! Looking great MiTo, another fantastic set of your creation. ;D

Also very cool that you added in a White Fox kit, I'm sure a lot of people will be glad about that. :thumb:

I'm more interested in the MOQ at this point. Especially for the child deals and what would happen if MOQ is not reached.

The Whitefox kit is super convenient. Also, it's a very nice detail to include a "Launch" and "Stow" for the ISO kit.

For myself it's based on lesson personal preference both with respect to the key set and designers.

Also, Classic Space will use a new and more suitable font.

Why would he not ask a moderator to move it properly? Now all the questions/feedback/info in this thread is either nuked or orphaned.

Can someone explain the Tsangan pack to me? In particular, I don't understand the shift key being R3 instead of R4 like the other shift keys in the base pack or like the other 1.75u shift in the Whitefox kit.

First of all, I'm sorry for the delayed reply and thank you very much for coming by. About you question, the Tsangan shift keycap was meant to be R4 too. But now that you mentioned I'll have to check if Signature Plastics can manufacture 1.75u "SHIFT" legended keys on R4, there was something about they not being able to make such keys in the past but I forgot what the issue is. I don't know if the R4 was the problem or if it was the 1.75u size, but there used to be an issue with this keycap. I'll e-mail Melissa and get back to you as soon as I have an answer. Stay tuned.

Were the alternative red modifiers scrapped? I kind of liked those.

I didn't know what to do with these, I'm glad you like them though!

(never bought keysets on Massdrop before)

The idea behind the set is to make your keyboard look like something from the 60's NASA. Therefore the faded tones and retro feel. The child kits will be available separetly, but I'd recomend you to get at least the Basic Kit too.

I think you should add some more color to the base. Maybe a some of the yellow and red keys that you have on the novelties kit, move them to the base kit?

Woops, yes that is what I meant.

My keyboard has a 1u + and - instead of the long 2u +, so I just thought it would look weird with them both being different colors.

Do you guys believe we should do something like the Asiimods and Blumods from Sci-Fi?

Woops, yes that is what I meant.

My keyboard has a 1u + and - instead of the long 2u +, so I just thought it would look weird with them both being different colors.

Since this is the case, I'll add the blue "+" 1u mate.

If you manage to keep prices relatively low, definitely yes!

MiTo, the set looks amazing! Loving the color scheme, and I hope you decide to leave it as is!

Cannot wait for this drop! That being said, what do you think the ETA for production time from GB time will be for this set?

I think you should add some more color to the base. Maybe a some of the yellow and red keys that you have on the novelties kit, move them to the base kit?

Hey mate, thanks for coming by! Are you talking about any keycaps in specific?

Maybe just a yellow esc and enter key

Look for the Sci-Fi keyset that I made last year.

For these colors there is the Novelty Pack.

Thank you very much mate! Production will take place by the end of February, this will ship ~8 weeks after it.

Pricing won't be a problem, the main thing is one set being focused and the other one splitting the sales. This used to be an issue on PMK days, but with Massdrop I don't think so. The thing is that I'll have to offer everything blue also in red. Otherwise people will complain. I'm also not a huge fan of offering two sets at the same time.

Ares Program as a future addon?

Yep, better to focus this mission first and maybe next time could be the perfect time for Ares.

Is the 6.25u spacebar included in the base set and is the 7u spacebar included in the tsangan set?

The Base kit covers a standard TKL keyboard, which means that it has a 6.25U space bar included.

Tsangan doesn't include a space bar according to the mockups.

So if I buy a standard kit, a  tsangan kit, and a bar kit, I'd have 2 6.25u spacebars and 1 7u spacebar?  I guess I'd use 1 6.25u spacebar for FC660m stem modding.

Agreed my friend, we will see what happens.

The Basic Kit definitely comes with a space bar but the Tsangan kit doesn't. Here's why: if you look closely, the White Fox pack also doesn't feature a space bar even though people who chose the Winkeyless layout will need one. I'm not offering 7u space bars in the Tsangan/White Fox kits because I want this group of customers (Tsangan and Winkeyless White Fox) buying and making volume to the Bars child deal pack, therefore making it easy to tip. In case you don't know what the White Fox is, it is a custom keyboard created by the great Matt3o that was sold last year by Massdrop. Below you can see a picture of it's Winkeyless layout.

However, this format is open for discussion and I'd like to hear your (and others) opinion(s) about it. In case we keep such decision, I'll make sure to state on the mockups that neither of the kits will come with a 7u space bar, to prevent unsatisfied customers and future complaints.

Matt3o might have used the same file for all the layouts, that's a 2.25 Shift, not 1.25. The 1.25U might be from the ISO Layout

Zambumon is correct, that shift size was a mistake from Matt3o's end when he presented the White Fox Winkeyless mockup. I apologize for not noticing it before, but that's indeed a 2.25u "SHIFT" keycap.

They are stretched a little bit, I lost quality because I stretched the whole image too much.

I will provide a better image with the child deals tomorrow.

I made them in mid/early December and it was a combination of lightning, textures that gives that impression since the sculpting is exactly the same that SP has published in their resource files, I've improved all of them and now it looks much better. That being said, those renders would look way more rounded if I used glossy materials (which has been done by others before)… but that wouldn't be accurate at all.

Renders aside, I'm pretty confident that the set will look 2~3 times better in real life, specially with novelties.

Godspeed-->60s

The idea behind the set is to make your keyboard look like something from the 60's NASA. Therefore the faded tones and retro feel. The child kits will be available separetly, but I'd recomend you to get at least the Basic Kit too.

Well, I'm not too keen on spending money on something I don't really like - but if the price isn't too high I still might get a full set, just to have it complete.
We'll see, I guess.

The tops don't seem to curve inward enough compared to real caps.

I think it may be the lighting?

I'd love to see a red version of this! Personally I'm not a big fan of the pale blue mods, but I would totally pick this up if it was red. As long as it's <100 for a TKL set, I think it's a great idea.
