Still have not recieved my order in Canada... :(

PM me if your order is still unreceived. I only just stumbled upon this post. US orders not marked shipped, you've all been shipped I'm just a slacker. At this point I expect most of y'all got your packages before will get your tracking numbers to you. International orders, who have not received tracking info from hwood34 please PM me to figure out what's what. I will most likely miss things dumped in the thread.

I just remembered I'm part of this.  :))

I haven't received tracking or any info regarding my order.

I'm heading to Berlin this weekend. I've been awful about posting the tracking numbers. It's on my to do list for tonight. But so is, you know, packing. So the latter might take priority.

In any case all but one order was shipped late last week so US packages should be rolling in. I'll note here when I've updated the GB.

I'd be interested in picking up some SIP sockets if anyone has any spare to sell, stopped looking at this GB when it was US only and didn't realize international orders became available until it was to late.

I mayjust have to buy from  mouser directly  as the Vendor who picked these up seems to be going nuts on the price and marking it up a ****load over mousers prices let alone this GB's.

Oh wow, that is some serious markup :(.   Better when you buy in volume, somewhat similar to mouser and digikey after including shipping cost.

Which vendor is this?  I only need like 20 more, not a huge quantity, so I'll have to suck it up with the price.

Hi so I'm kinda newb about SIP sockets.

If I want it for a 60% keyboard, would it be safe to order 200 or is that overkill?

Also, price is trivial when it comes to having the easiest SIP sockets to work with, as well as build quality. Have you confirmed on the source of SIP sockets?

60% has ~61 keys, so you'd need 122 sockets.  I doubt you'd need many extras, if any, as I don't really see many situations in which you'd be breaking these.
Buy at least 5-10% extra in case you damage some when removing them from the housing.

Good advice  !

I updated my order.

Thank you swill

Thank you again swill !

I followed your advice but even though, I had just enough SIP sockets to finish my TKL.

This saved me today  :-*

EDIT : Grammar.

More or less final update

Hey all. Sorry for the slooooooeoewness of this long tail. Everything has long since shipped. I've been busy with The Real Life and never got around to sending everyone their tracking numbers. There are two individuals I'm working with to send additional items because their orders came up significantly short.

I'm also across the country from the remaining LEDs and so there won't be extras or a second round anytime soon. Certainly not before summer's end.

If you haven't received your LEDs or there are other problems with your order. You need to PM me.

This has been a lot of work, and a lot of fun, and I hope everyone's boards are more beautiful for it. 👋

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to mech kbs and new to GH.

I'm trying to gather parts for my first custom keyboard, and this group buy caught my eye - but alas, I was months too late.

Those sky blue LEDs are fan-freaking-tastic and I'd love to get my hands on ~100 of them. if anyone has extras, please don't hesitate to PM me.

Thank you!

Just FYI, you can buy the LEDs directly from the aliexpress store.

That's where I got mine. Shipping was like 2-4 weeks IIRC.

Since saying that I basically thought I was done, I've heard from a few folks (and found one PM that I missed, sorry!) about missing or incomplete orders. I'm away from the product for the duration of the summer but I'll do as much tracking as I can away from my paper info and be in touch with those folks.

There's also a couple mistake-correcting shipments going out this week.

I'm monstrous busy with work and travel and am not checking threads reliablly. Best way to contact me is a PM if you have questions or issues.

Two remedy shipments went out today.

It's going to be be a long while before I can do a second round or more fix more mistakes. I'll do my best to keep in touch with those of you I owe. Please keep PMing me if you don't hear from me every couple weeks.

I'm tempted to lock the thread later this week to signify that I'm no longer actively checking it. Is that too much?

I think it's fine, but I would put in a last post with a TLDR and reminding people at least 3 times to PM you if they need to and to not freak out if they don't hear from you for ____ days.
I'm back.

Anybody interested in starting a Round 2 for these super cool LEDs? Otherwise I'll just place an order to supply my needs (35 x Sky Blue + 5 Pink).

- Sky Blue - pictures
- Pink - pictures
- Cyan - pictures

The downside is that I'll end up with 100 of each because of minimum order requirements by the seller.

- Pink - pictures
- Cyan - pictures

The downside is that I'll end up with 100 of each because of minimum order requirements by the seller.

Honestly, I don't think LED GBs are worth it, unless it's actually impossible to buy them in small quantities. These LEDs are already readily available to buy on AliExpress.

We shouldn't give anyone the burden of having to sort and ship thousands and thousands of LEDs for what may be a negligible price difference.

Well, I never participated in a LED buy so I apreciate the input. I'd be down to host it but unfortunately I'm not in the US and brazilian customs would delay the buy for months if not years. According to the seller there are some custom options (see the image below) for LEDs that perhaps some people could be interested in.

I'm down for a group buy if we can get a wider range of LED colors available just to make things easier for those wanting all sorts of colors. It's just a hassle browsing different sites to get all the colors you want.

And maybe we could add SIP sockets into the group buy as well to make it more worthwhile

The main motivation for the original group buy seems to've been avoiding aliexpress's somewhat dubious history of international shipping and the fact that once they have your email address you're pretty much never not going to get email from them.

The former seems to be much improved and if you're ordering from the same seller that the group buy used you'll probably be just fine.

The LEDs ultimately shaved 2-3 cents off the individual price but we burned plenty of that savings in re-shipping. Also counting those little ****ers is time consuming and error-prone even with a counting scale.

SIP Sockets are a great thing to try and find a deal for. LEDs, not so much.

I'm down for SIP sockets only if we actually get the long solder tail version from Mill-Max because they charge an arm and a leg for them, and they totally worth it. I'm tired of struggling with the cheapo standard sockets that you could buy from ebay.

P.S. it's Figure no. 2, or Series 311

Thanks for the headsup nuclear and congratulations for this succesful buy! Too bad I missed, it was a fantastic opportunity to get some sweet LEDs.

Do you plan on hosting any more GBs?

Is this GB going to be re-open soon?

I don't think so, but you should be fine by ordering LEDs from the same vendor.

Me and another GH'er just did it (we combined Sky Blue + Hot Pink orders).

No problem pal, here's the SIP sockets' source. The manufacturer is Mill Max but this link features the store that sells them.

100 unities would be ~$4.20 + shipping and apparently there are two models available right now.

The version nuclear provided was this one on the link above, (Long Tail) but there are other options as you can see here and here.

Thank you again, you are very kind, which option is better for PCB mounted switches?

I don't have pictures of your setup, nor enough experience to give an exact advice. However, thinking about it and creating some scenarios in my head I came to the conclusion that you should be good with either. It doesn't really matter. The tail is long enough for you to solder the SIPs, but aren't extremely long to the point they could potentially pierce through the bottom of your switches. I don't know what case are you using, nor how your setup is but I believe you should be good with both options. I'd get the longer ones (standard ones used on the buy, aka Long Tail), as you could trim the legs a little bit if they become an issue when installing.

Perhaps some more experienced users could give some more precise inputs? It would be much apreciated.
