From May 15 at 22:00 CEST to May 16 22:00 CEST, I’ll be auctioning 8 Oblivion Grey Verne (with either Classic or Modern layouts) using a Vickrey auction at a starting price of $410.
This is a sealed-bid auction (meaning that bidders will submit their bids without knowing the bid of the other people in the auction) where the top 8 bidders will get a board, and the price to be paid will be set by the ninth-highest bid. Only one bid per person, and a Geekhack ID created before April 1, 2019 is required to participate. I reserve the right to accept or decline your bid.

Wow, what a price. Congrats!
I wonder how many of the winners will actually pay up once you send the invoice....
-
were invoices sent to those who got them already?

Probably all of them. By nature of the auction style, 7 of the people are getting a deal.

Funny. My bid was $740.

Great, I saved $600, couldn't be happier :)

I assume invoices have not been sent yet?

They haven't. I have contacted the winners using the email they provided to me and I will be invoicing as I soon as I have their board ready.

Why would anyone not pay and risk ruining their relationship with one of the top designers in the industry? Same as why would anyone flip this board, and do the same thing (ruin relationship, damage reputation)? There are other ways in the world to make money other than flipping keyboards.

Not everyone cares about that moral stuff . To some it's just easy money
