I just poked into this "Media" forum for the first time tonight.  I'm going to post pics of my keyboards when the last three come in and some keycaps.  I'm not going to wait for the Round Four ones though, but the Cream Cheese and Green are shipping now.

I just modded my Pure that I primarily use for gaming and junk. I stuffed the inside of the board with a cheap mouse pad. Added a bunch of weight to keep it stationary and made it more solid. Oh, I have more Pures on the way ;o

More PBT.

Is that a Pure with LEDs? If so, do they still shine around those keys? Looking to get a Pure, but also wonder if LEDs are worth getting if I'm going to replace the keycaps eventually.

I was wondering, and I didn't want to start a new thread about it, do Pure's have the same LED issues as the Race keyboards? IE, dimming, flickering after a few weeks.

I would presume aluminium case, red switches.

Obviously I need to; twist the stem on the silver cap so it lines up correctly, get a cherry profile short shift & caps lock, and buy a decent camera.  Other than that I'm happy with it so far.

That terran key is awesome, better than any plastic version I've seen so far.
Any chance to find one for protoss?
Btw do you play with it? If so don't you miss the F keys for locations?
I'm planning on buying a Poker or Pure for work, would be great if it could also replace my choc mini I use at home.

The terran key is from a set, only six sets were made and I found someone that was willing to sell just the terran key. It is the escape key so I guess I do play with it there, but I don't really hit escape too often. When I play SC2 I normally use a TKL board, and when I play FPS and MMOs I use the Pures sometimes.

Mine were kindly donated by a Cherry G80 (hence the lack of short-shift and CAPS) which was bought for the purpose and is looking forlorn on the floor next to me.  But if you want OEM caps rather than Cherry profile, then you can get *most* of the caps fairly easily, for example, I believe imsto does blank sets, etcetera.

Fairly easily? Ive looked on every taobao item and every vendor forum. There simply seems to be no one offering blank black PBT with small right shift. And it would be more awesome if someone actually offered the official Pure engraved black set. I don't want some incomplete mashup.

Buy a Tsangan kit with groupbuy keycaps. It includes 1.75x rshift.
I didn't want to do this, but people please stop messaging me about the factory PBTs. They're still hard to come by for some reason and I had to pry my set out of someone's hand (white ones is another story). If I dig up a few more sets, they're going to be for me... Since I've matched OP's Pure count.

Did you just buy the base set and leave the original R-shift key on there?  I'm tempted to do just that because paying for a whole Tsangan kit for just one key seems a bit too much...

Hmm I noticed they used different spacebar stabilizer bars. 1 of mine has a straight bar. 2 others I've opened has the 2 bends in the mid section. The straight bar rattles less. Can't believe I didn't notice this when I put on my PBT caps. I only noticed when I wanted to see why this one had no annoying spacebar rattle (which is from the stabilizer bar).

^ That orange Frow looks nice - nice contrast with the black.  Yellow would look good too, and a slightly better match with Batman :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

How do you like Treble's aluminum case?  Does it add a decent amount of weight to the board?  Any pinging noises?  Also, do you know of any ways to dampen the noise of the keys by placing materials inside the case before screwing down the board?

I'm thinking of picking one up once he sets up his shop again.

I love it, it makes the whole keyboard feel much more solid (just wish it had the centre screw support). I haven't heard any pinging noises except an occasional rubbing against where the backspace key is, but that was down to the board not being entirely centred, soon fixed that. I bought the case off Longwieght who had placed some form of rubbery foam underneath the PCB, so I've left it there as I didn't see the point in removing it, so can't comment on the difference without.

A picture of my Pure collection. All from mechanical keyboards.

Really nice stash there. Really nice. I hear this is a great compact mechanical keyboard design. Hope to try it soon.

Partial collection of my Pures.

Edit: 1 more. + mini comparison
I am quite happy with my new silver cased Pure. The case quality is better than the black versions as well as the Filco case in the background. It has a much finer satin like finish that looks nice, as well as no dings and gouges on it. You can see 2 gouge marks on the inside and outside edge in front of the LWin key on my black case (there are a couple more, but none this bad). It is gouged before the anodizing because the marks are completely filled with color. Then, there are some minor parallel marks on the bottom. Both of my other ones doesn't have the parallel marks, but the silver one's finish is still better.

Silver one seems to have a newer firmware revision than my other Pures. The old one has inversely powered Fn lock indicator. If LED is set to high brightness, then the FN indicator will be dim, and vice versa. New ones only lights up when Fn lock mode is on.
^edited due to fuzz memory and never using the LEDs.

I put the leftovers of my valentines kit on the Pure, or at least tried. The spacebar doesn't seem to fit very well.

I feel bad doing a CCnG for my pure now, since its been done. =(

FWIW, I switched back to the default keys, I just wasn't thrilled with the SP feel.  :'(

I tried the space again, wasnt sitting properly and gave up.
I'll give it another shot when I take all the other caps off.

I've got that for the time being. Profiles are a bit off, but its no big deal. Not bad for the leftovers from the mods & tsangan.

Not sure if you seen the non-backlit Pures. Pure was originally designed to have centered legends. http://kbtalking.cool3c.com/article/56001 The legends on the LED version were moved so they're better lit by the LED.

I haven't seen any either. The only sets I've seen with that key have been the Tsangan sets from SP group buys and I believe the GMK group buy with the purple, thick double shots. In either case, they are both ABS.  :'(

Keycool 84 keycap sets have a 1.75x right shift. Since you want it in blank, they do have them available in both white, blank PBT and black, blank POM. Just a warning though, the 84 sets only have 3 1.25x modifier keys. You would have to pick up an 87 keycap set with it to fulfill the Pure layout modifier row. Considering how cheap you can get Keycool keycap sets, it shouldn't be a problem especially since the price for an 84 and 87 set would roughly be the equivalent to the price of any available set of PBT keycaps and in this case you get extra caps from having 2 sets :thumb: I believe this is a more viable option if you want to keep consistant profiles throughout the board (not to bash on SP or anything and assuming you want OEM profile).

I actually collected a few prototype stuff for the Pure since I posted in the thread last time.
Next on the agenda: Wrestle the Pure prototype from its current owner's hands.

Anyone added anything new lately? Slapped some Dolch mods on mine this week!

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I gave the Commando 23 set a test drive on a KBT Pure that I have in the stock case to see if I like it and I really, really do!

Pictured behind the Pure is a Poker X with MX-Whites sporting a mix of blank and cryllic IMSTO PBT key caps and behind that is another Pure with Retro.
