Title: [IC] Klaxon Special Keycaps for 60%, 75% and Special Keyboards

Those of you who have tried to use a standard Imsto or SP keycap set to replace the OEM keycaps on a KBT/Vortex/Choco Mini keyboard know that there are some "special" keycaps that aren't in the standard set.  This leaves us with the option of mixing OEM and custom keys or worse, dropping 1x keycaps onto 1.25 or 1.5 positions.

This Interest check -- conducted with the approval of tjcaustin (http://geekhack.org/index.php?action=profile;u=21772) and the Klaxon Group Buy (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=37225.0) -- is to procure matching solid Red and solid White 1x, 1.25x and 1.5x keycaps, (plus possibly other sizes) and then ship them blank or have them laser-printed to match the various keycaps needed.  (Surprising levels of demand could enable these keys to have other, better legend imprints.)

I have requested pricing for both solid Red and solid White to match Klaxon keycaps.

I believe there are ten special key profiles needed to cover Poker, Pure, Race, Choco Mini, and a lightly modded Phantom.  Heavily modded Phantoms and GH60s may be covered as well by these sizes:

Using SP DCS Profiles and Numbering:
Row 1: 1X, 1.5X
Row 2: 1X
Row 3: 1X, 1X with dot, 2.25X
Row 4: 1X, 1.25X, 1.5X, 1.75X

Here is a mock-up of a Race with Klaxon and some specials installed:

Choco Mini:
Row 1: 1X Qty 3
Row 2: 1X Qty 1
Row 3: 1X Qty 1, 2.25X Qty 1
Row 4: 1X Qty 4, 1.5X Qty 3, 1.75X Qty 1

Phantom ANSI125 with 5 extra keys:
Row 3: 1X Qty 2, 1X with dot Qty 1
Row 4: 1X Qty 2

My best knowledge as of 26-Dec-2012

Obviously people can make "extra-special" keyboards that will need more keycaps, but except for truly exciting GH60 and Phantom builds, I think the list of Keycaps shown above in red will cover all of the profiles needed.

My next step is to finalize the profiles needed for special keyboards.  If I have missed a keyboard, or gotten the details wrong, or if you know the special keys needed for a Pure or any other special keyboard, please reply to this thread.

Once I have the list of profiles everyone will need, I will do a Google Form to understand demand, and at the same time get pricing from SP.

Ok; I thought about that key, but there are so many top row specials in all of our collections I didn't include it.  Also, I use the Fn key (mostly) for Insert, and the actual Insert key fits.

But I'll add it to the Google Form, if this gets that far.

definitely interested! I would love to outfit my Race, so my interested is in 2A and 3C I guess

For me, the Poker looks really clean without caps customized for its layout / Fn layers so I am less interested in that

I am gonna get my hands on whatever replacement sets I can find for all the odd keycaps that is so unlikely ever to be produced at all?

Going for the full set(2a+3c) because seriously is there ever gonna be another chance rare I think  :(

If I wanted to build a phantom and use the tsargan kit so that my right shift was shorter and add a fn key, would that be a 1x for row 2?

Pure is just an extra 1x "~`" key for row 4 and a 1.75x right shift also row 4. Everything else is normal.

I list them because a normal set would not contain mods with those legends.

No; Klaxon will be double-shots, but these are for the keys that don't have double-shot molds.  So they will be purchased blank and then laser-etched or otherwise marked by the user.  The intent here is to have color-matched keycaps, not to extend Klaxon to every possible keyboard layout.

So the short version is:

RA 2.0 = RBV
Klaxon = RDD
Cherry Red Set = RA

My plastic chip set does not have RDD only RBV :\  I only included 'RA' because I have some keys from that color and it clashes pretty bad with RBV.  However, from the screenshot provided below RDD does look close to RBV (at least in the photo it does)

It would be cool if I could get just the 5 Extra Phantom keys, because I've already got a Regular Klaxon set reserved for it (with 1.50x mods, I might add), and I'm thinking that those 5 keys could be used as macros or something with no complicated or bloated software. The only thing would be to determine if It would be 5 macro-esque keys or if it would be a hybrid of the 7bit design and 1.50x ANSi (think Quickfire TK with 1.50x mods). I think the Macros would be cooler, but I'm kinda needing a numberpad, though I use the Insert/delete block a lot...something to think about.

EDIT: I've made up my mind, and it's going to be dual layer. I would also appreciate a Phantom 5 extra keys blank in White. I'm getting a red set, so the 5 extra keys will stand out! :D

Definitely put me down for 2 (TWO) keysets for Races and 2 (TWO) for Pures.  Nice to see these babies getting some attention with SP now.  Please let us know if and when they will take flight and how much to front up with.

I'd also need additional blank keys to replace the "wrong" ANSI keys on my German Layout (for Ä,Ö,Ü etc.) but I guess I can get these if I order more sets.

edit: oh I saw they would be blanks. Well that ruins it for me. Red Alert/Klax not the same without the legends.

Race owners: Are you interested in 1.5x Row 1 (top row) keys with "Escape" and "Delete" in Klaxon Red with white legends?

All other interested parties:  I am going to combine this small buy with my RGBYK buy to increase volume.  I shall create a combined thread soon.

This could be really interesting.

Please have all the keys setup nicely so that customers can see what they want/need for their particular keyboard.  Text alone won't enable more people to spend money on these sets.

I might even buy some off you for some spare Race's, Pure's and whatnot's  ;) .
