I absolutely love this idea and think the colors work wonderfully together. It's also fantastic to see you working on this so diligently despite some of the negativity I'm seeing in this thread--that's awesome!
I would like to echo the sentiment that this needs some more work, though. Firstly, the renders need clarity (grainy, can't see legends on Summit Alternative Kit).
Most importantly though, in my opinion, those deskmat designs have solid ideas behind them, but the execution is absolutely inexcusable for something you want people to spend money on. The darker one doesn't resemble anything nearing a topographical map, and the lines are very clearly clumsy and choppy. The linework on the lighter one is a bit better, but still highly inconsistent in terms of centering and line spacing, not to mention the red dots are off in a few places. The boxes that say "MOUNTAINEERING" and "RISE TO THE CLIMB" are entirely unnecessary and do not echo educated design choicest--they actively cheapen the rest of the design. It doesn't help that the icons on the darker one look a bit like clip-art. The font on the lighter one is overbearing.
In summary: I highly advise reworking the linework and using real topographical reference photos when working with the darker deskmat. You could get away with keeping the "MOUNTAINEERING" boxes, but I really think the designs would speak for themselves much more effectively if you left it to just the coordinates and maybe some small flag squares, and getting rid of the huge "RISE TO THE CLIMB" box is an absolute must imo (it does nothing for the design).
All of this said, I'm really excited to see where you take this, and I'm sure that it can be a stellar set with some extra elbow grease put into it. I love those novelty keys.
