I've updated the OP with the following additions, since I've been getting quite a few PMs about this :

Quote
The shipping estimation before checkout isn't working on the site (working on fixing it).

However, if you go to the first step of checkout, it will give you an accurate quote depending on the number of sets you ordered.

Quote
The £127.50 price includes shipping fees from China->UK, Paypal fees (used when I pay the supplier for the sets), Stripe fees, etc.

The total price you pay is £127.50 + shipping cost to you.

I realize these are GMK, but oh man these sets are pricey.

The Olivetti is beautiful, but roughly ~$200 USD not including shipping... Not an easy pill to swallow.

Photekq asked us not discuss our opinions about the price in the tread, just a heads up.

I just requested people avoid threadcrapping. I don't call discussion threadcrapping. Discussion is positive, threadcrapping is negative. Please discuss as much as you want ;D

I'm not saying don't discuss the pricing... Feel free to do that. I would just really appreciate it if people didn't threadcrap like this when they know nothing of the financials behind it.

Sorry for any misunderstanding :-[

Just something I'd like to say about the price :

I'm aware the price is quite high, but after considering all the fees (including the hefty import tax the supplier had to pay), aswell as the keycap box & novelty, the price is not unreasonable. That's not to say it isn't pricey, but anyway, just thought I'd say that. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to change the pricey-ness.

How long will these be stocked? If I eventually find the cash, I would not mind purchasing a set.

There's about 100 sets of each available, so you've got some time.

Really like the Olivetti set, but with your classic beige coming soon, I think I'll have to skip.  Hoping that that add on pack for that one makes it through, otherwise, I will really be kicking myself...

Phantom - 65g Cherry tactile greys

You probably won't know until the first batch/set ships but what do you think is a reasonable amount of time for these sets to reach our doors? 2 weeks maybe?

I can't really give an answer.. It will depend entirely on how quick the shipping is. I would guess a few weeks from when the first batch of orders has filled up.

There's about 100 sets of each available, so you've got some time.

Is that 100 sets of each TOTAL?  Or 100 sets of each available to GH?

If total, that would completely explain the price, as GMK has a very high MOQ (usually 500?), and to allow a lower MOQ they would naturally increase the price.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

More likely shipping to China and from China to the UK has added ~$10-30 to the cost of each set.  So let's say $120-130 shipped to China (higher cost because of windowed caps) +  $10 sorting + $5-10 box + $15-20 Hammer cap, you're looking at $160+ to get a set based off pricing and quotes I've seen on other sets and that's before PayPal or stripe fees.  The pricing makes sense, but it's high because of logistics and stuff people might not want.

GMK MOQ is 250. Their price does drop at higher quantities though.

Correct, but most of those will be sold to the Chinese community.

Pretty much this. Logistics are a large part of the high cost here, and that's all down to the main market being China. It's done the way it is because that's where most of the sets will be sold.

Pho - is your friend willing to ship direct from China to Malaysia? That would make so much sense for me. That would have reduce the shipping cost from UK to Malaysia.

It doesn't include any other costs like shipping fee, proxy-handling fee, tax and so on.
Yeah, they're readily available on taobao, which might seem more attractive than ordering here due to the lower price (since the sets are already in China = fewer costs). However, after the fees mentioned above it would definitely end up more expensive than purchasing here.

As I've said before, I'm getting these sets for less than they're selling elsewhere, in order to make this more affordable. This is partly because the supplier won't have to ship out individual orders. So, I can't offer shipping individual sets direct from China. However, if you can gather a few people ordering from Malaysia, I can arrange for all your sets to be sent to one person. Then you can distribute them among yourselves.

Genuinely curious, and the answer(s) I receive may influence a purchase: Take the shipping and merchant fees out of the equation; that's the cost of doing business. These are not PBT caps, correct? I'd like to know what is it about these particular keycap sets that makes them special to justify a high base price?

These caps are thick ABS with doubleshot legends.  They are made by GMK in Germany who purchased keycap manufacturing tooling from Cherry.  They are the same company who makes Dolch, Classic Beige, Olivetti, etc..

As there are only about 100 sets of each, will you update the community as quantities drop?

I for one am trying to save up for this so hopefully they stay around for a while.

Sorry that's the case. I went with Stripe for the same reason CTRL[ALT] did. Paypal doesn't like preorders/GBs. It maybe wasn't necessary for this proxy, but it certainly is for a full GMK GB which I should be running soon.

If you really cannot order through credit or debit, shoot me a PM and I can try to work out a way for you to buy it through Paypal.
