New HHKB carrying case
« on: Thu, 22 January 2009, 19:23:56 »
Original web page:

http://www.pfu.fujitsu.com/direct/hhkb/detail_trunk.html

Translated via Google-o-matic:  "The image of a guitar case is the case with a sense of luxury.  Inside the trunk, there is a charity that mimic the lining of purple velvet.  If you carry a keyboard in the other, and can be used for storage.  HHKB and support all models."

Do these guys just crank out the accessories, or what?

Home/Work:  Custom Filco FKBN87Z/EB and SGI 041-0136-001 chimera (original white ALPS, not simplified, rubber-dampened)
Gaming:  Wolfking Warrior with custom-colored layout, HHKB Lite 2 (Rubber dome)

Looks like something you would carry your gat around in...like a Bonnie and Clyde. Having said that, I would like one : )

Not really, the one I have is fine. On the downside, its in the box in my closet.
See my post on the filco's. My problem is that I like all of the keyboards that I have. They are all great in their own way but the filco is winning me over. I don't know if I will sell the rest of what I have or not.

Am I the only one disturbed by the fact that this case has a lot of "storage room", so the keyboard will bounce around inside as you carry it about?  And the fact that there are exposed rivets/fasteners on the interior, looking eager to scratch up the keyboard?

(Like other HHKB accessories, this one appears to be compromised for the Pro by having it accommodate the Lite.  In this instance, that extra space is required for the Lite's slightly larger size and the integrated cable.)

I would love to get a case of this style for my HHKB, but this one doesn't do it for me.  If they made one sized specifically for the Pro so it was snug, that would be another story.

(Now I'm wondering about whether it's possible to insert another partition in there, to create two compartments ... hmm ...)

snip

Exactly how I felt.
If it was actually like a good guitar case with nice cushioned velvet all round it would have been cool.
This looks cheap and nasty to me.
Keyboards. Happy Hacking pro 2 x2. One white one black. IBM model M US layout. SGI silicone Graphics with rubber dampened ALPS. IBM model F. ALPS apple board, I forget what it is. And some more I forget what I have.

Typewriters. Olivetti Valentine. Imperial Good Companion Model T. Olympia SM3

It's ridiculous and defeats the purpose of having a small easy to carry keyboard.
