CM Storm Trigger Mysterious Substance
« on: Tue, 02 April 2013, 12:19:25 »
This probably doesn't deserve it's own thread but I'm not sure where else to post it.

I do want to start out by saying I contacted CM Support by email and got no reply.

I recently purchased a CM Storm Trigger with Brown MX Switches from newegg.com. Upon opening I saw what appears to be some sort of dust/powder on the keys. It almost looks like light is reflecting off of the corners of the keys until you touch it and the powder comes off.

Anybody ever saw or heard of anything like this?

The box was factory sealed and all I have done is open and removed the keyboard to get the serial number for support and put it back in the box.

Here is a pic, I apologize for the blurry cell phone picture but I think its clearly visible.

Is it from the cardboard packaging?

I don't think so, I just got on live chat with coolermaster and they didn't really have an answer. They suggested something happened in the factory..?

EDIT: So I decided to at least give try out the keyboard to see how the browns compare to the reds. And now I'm thinking that was some sort of grease because my can of air wouldn't budge it I had to pull out a paper towel and wipe the keys off.....

CM should compensate that for you in some way. Maybe replacing it or offering some item. Wiping every single key is not an easy task!

Old post, but just saw it.  It's probably some left-over material from the key coating.  Mine had it too, and came off with a quick tissue wipe.  The keys are silky to touch and I think there's a special coating on them that makes them such, like the soft-touch finish on Bitfenix cases.
