So in collaboration with mkawa, I'll have access to some 14 gauge/.08" CP4 grade (aerospace grade) titanium. That means some custom 60% sized plates out of TITANIUM. I'm thinking any layout you want (if jdcarpe doesn't mind helping me with design, I have quite a few designs already) with the caveat that you don't mine paying for the programming fee.

Not sure on pricing or time frame but still let me know if you're interested. I think we'll have to order in quantities of 12 due to the sheet size that mkawa can get

Also, switch tools......

Laser guy got back to me, he can only fit 8-9 plates per kawa sheet. He did also get back to me with a cutting fee with material provided. The final cost of the plate is looking to be around $75 + shipping to you. As for tools, it depends on how many he can fit onto the remaining scrap metal (no cutting fee quoted)

Hell yeah. I'm in for some switch tools and a HHKB style plate.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Interest noted, you'll be first in line. The first 12 plates cut are kind of a prototype because my guy CAN cut Ti, but he hasn't before. So the first plate cut will be mine to calibrate settings, but I can't guarantee them turning out perfectly

Make me an hhkb style that fits omron switches. Me love you long time.

omron switches? Do they have a special cutout?

Plate for a FC660M?

Might be interested and at the very least for a switch tool.

I don't have any drawings for a 660M plate

Only 60%?

Right now, 60% nest on the plate perfectly. TKLs could be done, but they don't nest nearly as well

it will get somewhere between a 36 and 40-ish mil finish. think stainless steel 4B. not polished down to a shine, but a little matte.

What properties does Ti have over stainless steel which make it better for plates?  I could be interested once we get an idea on price.

titanium is as strong as stainless steel but weighs about 1/10 as much, roughly. stainless steel refers to a huge number of alloys, whereas titanium is generally judged on purity, (CP grades). this is CP material, and not an alloy such as 16av. as such, this material offers many of the benefits of very low carbon martensitic stainless with a fraction of the weight and about 10-15% more dimensional stability.

If these plates allow switch top removal I'll bump my order to 2 plates. Not fussed if it costs more, I've got two plates here already but they're just universal plates and I know I'll wind up wanting to change springs or stems some time in the future.

also re: finish, titanium has fantastic bulk material properties and low weight but doesn't have a ton of surface hardness, so you can really finish the sheet however you want to with pretty basic tools. part of my mockup for the project this material is for involves a brushed and wetsanded CP grade 2 plate that i've been trying to get mostly flat for conductivity experiments. i can take some pictures tomorrow if there's interest. titan has a pretty unique look to it for metallurgic  reasons i don't understand in the least.
