Title: Request sticky on post formatting

Hi all. Noob question alert. Does anyone know how to turn off auto formatting in posts?  It would be great to have a sticky containing the basics of how to control format and content of posts, advice on formatting of posted images, etc.!

First, welcome to geekhack! :D

What do you mean by auto formatting? Could you describe what it is doing vs what you want it to do? In general this is probably a useful thing to document for everyone, so I'd love to hear what in particular is causing you frustration.
